U.S. MODEL 1840 NCO SWORD & CROSS STRAP, ALSO USED BY MARINES, ricasso is mkd. “Emerson & Silver, Trenton N.J.”, the brass handle has a nice dark patina the the front & back guard were bent during the period for ease of use, the blade has no pitting but some dark spots, the black leather scabbard has brass brass mounts is very nice, the black leather cross strap is 2 1/4” wide & has a brass circular eagle plate mounted to it, not counting the period modifications this is exc.

The copper alloy pierced tsuba, menuki and fuchi kashira decorated with cherry blossoms, the tang signed Yoshimichi and with a date possibly reading Showa 17 (1942) 7th month. Nagasa L65cm, the metal scabbard with a fitted leather sheath. Condition Report: Unable to remove the scabbard from the leather sheath to closely examine (reluctant to pull forcefully for fear of damage). The press function does not appear to be working. The cutting edge is overall in good condition, no obvious dents, roughly 65cm long. Scabbard roughly 79cm longPlease note we are legally unable to send this item with the post.
