An Indian sword (tulwar), curved and wavy edged blade 33 in. and double edged for the last 10 1/2 in., broad fuller to each side extending almost to the tip, impressed decoration between the fuller and the blade back, characteristic Indo-Muslim hilt adorned with dense leaf and flowerhead design in gold koftgari, disc pommel finished with a domed finial with pierced border; in an associated green velvet covered scabbard with white metal chape.
A Chinese sword jian, straight double edged blade 30 3/4 in. and inset with stars and Chinese characters in copper and gilt, characteristic shaped crosspiece and triform pommel, plain wooden grip, wooden scabbard with pierced metal mounts. According to the vendor the sword was given to his father, a member of the Hong Kong police, by a Japanese officer, upon his release from prison at the end of WWII.
