The eyes are different colour one is green and one is red to the lions head. General surface wear and tear. There do not appear to be any numbers stamped on the hinged guard, scabbard top mount, or blade spine.

Three 19th century Austrian pioneer's swords: i) a model 1847 experimental pattern, broad saw-back blade 20.5 in. with narrow fullers, brass guard with Turkish* mark to on quillon, two-piece horn grip, brass mounted leather scabbard; ii) a model 1853, broad single edged blade 18 in., with broad fuller to one side, ricasso with date mark for 1887 and 'OHLIGS' for maker Robert Klass, steel guard unit marked 'I.S.A.' over '676' (1 Sanitats Abteilung (1st Medical Division) sword number 676), two-piece horn grip, steel mounted leather scabbard; iii) a model 1915, heavy un-fullered blade 15 in., steel S-curve cross piece, wooden replacement grips, steel scabbard. [3] *Trialled but not adopted into Austrian service, stocks of these weapons were sold to Turkey, and issued to pioneers as late as the First World War.
Three eastern edged weapons: i) a small Indo-Persian dagger (peshkabz), double-curved blade 5.5 in. with reinforced point, horn grip scales, fabric covered scabbard with openwork brass chape; ii) a small Omani dagger (jambiya), broad blade 3.5 in., ornate silver mounted hilt and scabbard with characteristic arrangement of rings; iii) a Tibetan brass ritual dagger (phurbu), triangular blade 3.5 in. projecting from the mouth of a monstrous bird, the openwork grip formed as a Buddhist thunderbolt (vajra), the pommel in the form of a three faced head. λ A fine English mounted yataghan, first quarter of the 19th century, Balkan blade 24 in., of typical forward curving form and inlaid in silver with panels of scrolling decoration involving script, the shoulder covered with a silver repoussé plate; English 'Mameluke' style hilt of gilt brass and ivory, quillons and langets richly embossed with oak leaves, grip strap formed of leaf chevrons with a beaded medial line, ivory pistol grips secured with flower head rivets; black leather scabbard with gilt brass locket and chape - each encircled by a band of leaf chevrons, the outer faces engraved with elegant botanical forms against a textured ground, the locket with two loose rings having reeded edges and Greek key decoration to each side, inner face of locket with cutler's particulars engraved within a seeded border "Salter Sword Cutler & Jeweller to H.R.H. the Duke of Sussex 35 Strand LONDON". John Salter, who occupied 35 Strand between 1801 and 1824, is notable as having been both cutler and jeweller to Admiral Lord Nelson, and to a limited number of other naval officers including Edward Pellew; and as having been cutler to Lloyd's Patriotic Fund. The blade is dated 1220 AH (CE 1st April 1805 - 21st March 1806) and carries a pious invocation to Hasan and Husain, key martyrs in Shi'ite hagiography who died at the battle of Karbala in 680 AD. Their names appear on many Balkan arms. The silver inlay work can be attributed to Shkodra, Montenegro and southern Bosnia. There is a similar blade in the Wallace Collection.

An Austrian model 1849 infantry officer's sword with moving bar hilt, slightly curved pipe-back blade 32.5 in., marked 'P.D.L.' for Luneschloss of Solingen; steel stirrup hilt with unusual configuration of two (rather than one) folding bars held in place by a sprung mechanism, fluted details to the guard and back strap, leather wrapped grip; steel scabbard; a non-regulation pattern that is more commonly encountered with a single folding bar.
