Brass hilt with shell-guard with relieved crown inside the crown of leaves. Guard decorated with pilaster, parry quillon shaped as animal's head. Pommel with relieved crown as well. dating: circa 1700 provenance: Persia, Curved, single-and false-edged blade, in damask, with double groove, first part of the right side bears two cartouches with inscriptions in Arabic and remains of gilding, above the golden chivalry coat-of-arms with helmet and armed arm of scimitar over the circle that includes three crosses, letters 'S L P K' in the angles, all in gold; on the other side the Emperor Ferdinand I of Hapsburg motto 'Pereat Mundus et fiat Justitia' (Let justice be done, though the world perish) in gold and among two symbols (most likely of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem), golden floral decorations above the back. Elegant, iron hilt with cross-shaped quillon and angled pommel, completely engraved with animals and floral motifs with golden frames. Wooden scabbard covered with ray skin with iron mounts engraved and gilded en suite. Two suspension rings. length 91 cm.
