British George V / WW1 Infantry Officer’s Sword, 82.5cm blade stamped PROVED, pierced guard, wire bound grip, leather bound scabbard. Condition report:Blade marked 'Armfields Ltd Birmingham' to one aspect, stamped 'PROVED' to the other. It it very difficult to see the Armfield mark as the blade is so heavily silvered, possibly even re-finished? There is tarnishing to outer and inner surface of the guard. Blade retains a good shape. The leather of the scabbard is well worn, with the stitching beginning to part towards the top of the spine, and also coming loose at various points down the length of the spine.
A British Infantry dress sword, pattern 1905. With pierced guard, blade etched with the crown, GVR, and leaves. In a leather scabbard. Total L101.5cmThe sword was owned by Captain Hubert Beaumont Balmforth. He was a member of the The Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. He served in Gallipoli, was wounded there and was awarded the Military Cross. After the war, he worked for the Cooperative Wholesale Society at the soap manufacturing factory and became the General Manager. He lived with his wife, Florence, in Mobberley Cheshire. They had no children. The sword was handed down to the vendor by his Godfather.
A Third Reich Luftwaffe officer's sword, by SMF Solingen, the blade with Waffenampt mark, the hilt with aluminium mounts and gold anodised swastikas, in its aluminium mounted scabbard, the upper mount engraved "Oberst/Alfred Druichel/ SG 4/ Ritterkreuz/21-8-1941/ Eichenlaubs 3-9-1942/ Schwertern/19-2-1943" over a crest in circle. Very worn condition, some corrosion to the aluminium, scabbard leather peeling off. £300-325

Good Condition, retaining most original gilt (a little wear, some rust marks to blade, the scabbard slightly worn and limp). £2500-3000

Brunn, Charing Cross (barely legible). GC (light honest age wear overall, dent to scabbard). £2500-3000

A fine presentation 1845 pattern Infantry officer's sword, blade 33", by "Hebbert & Co, James St, Haymarket, London, SW", etched with crown over VR within sunburst, Royal Arms, panels of scrolls, and "Presented to Major A Henty by the N.C. Officers and Men of the H (Worthing) Company of the 2nd Royal Sussex Regt on completion of the 25 Years Service 17th October 1891", with regulation pattern gilt brass hilt with wire bound fishskin covered grip, in its plated steel scabbard. Near VGC, the hilt retaining all original gilt (a few marks and one dent to the scabbard). £600-800

Good Condition (patches of rust staining to scabbard). A IV QOLD sword of similar date but different pattern is illustrated in Robson's "Swords of the British Army" figure 75. £1800-2000

A speculative European made mameluke hilted sword for the Eastern market, plain fullered Solingen made blade 31", the gilt brass hilt embossed and hand finished overall with flowers and foliage and inset on one side with small coloured glass "stones", in its brown velvet covered scabbard with similarly embossed gilt brass mounts mounted with filigree rosettes inset with coloured glass "stones". GC (some stones missing, minor wear to the velvet.) £200-300
