Meissen figure group modelled as a Gentleman wearing armour and lady companion, cut through crossed swords mark and incised model number 543 to base, late 19th century, 23cm high Condition report: The tip of the scabbard and the ladyÆs thumb missing. A Victorian dress sword with chased gilt grip and helmet pommel, the etched double edge blade with VR monogram, later scabbard. note. This dress sword belonged to Sir Charles Lemon, 2nd Baronet of Carclew, son of Sir William Lemon, 1st Baronet. Sir Charles and his family lived in the, now lost, country estate at Carclew. Having been born into a family deeply involved in Cornish politics, Sir Charles followed suit. In several stints between 1807 and 1857 he served as an M.P. in Cornwall, during which time he led the petition against the removal of the packet service in Falmouth and funded the establishment of the Camborne School of Mines. He tragically lost all three of his children at a young age meaning the baronetcy became extinct after his death.

A Third Reich Army officer’s sword, plated blade 30¼” by Alcoso, Solingen, the brass hilt with eagle on langet, oak leaves to knucklebow and backstrap and lion’s head pommel with red glass eyes, the black plastic covered grip with remains of wire binding, in its black painted steel scabbard. Basically GC, with traces of gilt to hilt (some staining to blade, scabbard paint worn with patches of rust)
An Imperial German Model 1889 Hessian Cavalry trooper’s sword, the plated 33” blade with maker’s mark of WK & Co and profusely etched with panels of foliage, horse’s head and portrait of Wilhelm II and commemorative inscription “Zur Erinnerung an meine Dienstzeit” in scrolls, all on a blued ground, the other side similarly etched with cypher of Tsar Nicholas II and in blued panel “2. Grosch Hess Drag. Regt (Leib Drag Regt) No 24”, the regulation black painted steel hilt with Hessian lion in panel and ribbed composition grip, in its black painted scabbard. GC, the blade good apart from light rust staining at forte (part of guard slightly bent, some wear to scabbard paint)
A Geo naval dirk, shallow diamond section blade 8½”, etched with simple trophies and florets and retaining traces of blueing, solid brass wheel guard, ivory grip with pommel and upward facing brass lion’s head top, in its brass scabbard with 2 rings and maker’s name “Dudley Portsmouth”. Basically GC with a little original gilt (hilt cracked, pommel cap loose). Plate 4
A Vic midshipman’s dirk, SE blade 17½”, by J Gieve & Sons, Portsmouth, etched with crowned VR cypher, crowned foulded anchor within scrolled panels, brass crossguard with acorn finials and disc langet on one side, bearing crowned fouled anchor, lion’s head pommel, wirebound sharkskin grip, in its brass mounted leather scabbard with spring clip to hilt and 2 opposing rings, the locket bearing applied device of Gaunt Gieve & Co on one side and Gothic initials “HE de PR” on the other. Basically GC (some wear and pitting, edge nick to blade)

GC with dark patina to hilt and scabbard (blade some pitting patches). Plate 1

New Condition
An 1895 pattern infantry officer’s sword, earlier slightly curved fullered blade 33” by Wilkinson, no 24960 (for 1882), etched with crowned VR cypher within scrolled fenestrated panels, and owner’s monogram “CUS”, plated pierced guard incorporating crowned VR cypher, without turned over inner edge, plain pommel, diced backstrap, wirebound fishskin grip, with leather knot, in its leather FS scabbard. GC
A Geo VI 1897 pattern infantry officer’s sword, blade 33” etched with crowned GVIR cypher, crowned R Arms and wreath within scrolled panels, pierced hilt incorporating crowned GVIR cypher, chequered backstrap, wirebound fishskin grip, in its leather FS scabbard with steel top and chape. Basically GC, the blade retaining a little original finish (small dark pitting patches overall to blade)
A composite bandsman’s sword, shallow hollow diamond section blade 21” (worn), heavy brass hilt, the crossguard similar to Drummers Mk I but larger and without langets, writhen grip and lion’s head pommel, in its rectangular section panelled brass scabbard, the panels on the front set with classical figure, rosettes and strap devices, 2 suspension rings. A Vic 1897 pattern infantry officer’s sword, straight fullered blade 32½”, by Robt Mole & Sons, Birmingham, Makers to the War & India Office, etched with crowned R Arms, crowned VR cypher and wreath within scrolled, geometric panels, regulation pierced steel guard incorporating crowned VR cypher, plain pommel, diced backstrap, wirebound fishskin grip, in its leather FS scabbard (repaired). GC, the etched part of the blade retaining much original finish (dark rust patina to hilt)

Basically GC (some wear, dark rust patina to hilt and scabbard)
