The hilt is of the regulation pattern incorporating an Imperial Eagle. Complete with original scabbard this being post 1906 with a single fixed loop. Etching to the blade clear slight age wear.

Important German Third Reich 1933 model SS dagger with full Rohm inscription by Eichorn, Solingen.A rare fully authenticated example, the blade obverse etched “Meine Ehre heist Treue” (My Honour is Loyalty), the reverse bearing “In herzlicher Freundschaft Ernst Rohm” inscription and small oval Eickhorn squirrel logo. Black wooden grip inlaid with silvered eagle and enamelled circular SS Sigrunen, the crossguard impressed I (for Munich area), the underside with issue number. Housed in original lacquered anodised nickel mounted scabbard with single suspension ring retaining buckled strap with spring clip and belt loop. Minor dents to scabbard and minor service wear. GCFollowing Hitler’s purge of the SA during “The Night of the Long Knives”, Röhm was shot at Stadelheim Prison by SS-Obersturmbannführer Michael Lippert on 2nd July, 1934, An order dated July 4th required all Rohm inscriptions to be obliterated from the blades, failure to do so risked severe punishment so very few daggers with the inscription remain.

Seebataillons’, ‘Damast-stahl Eisenhauer’ and stamped with maker’s details which are also etched on the back of the blade. The gilt guard, with folding section, ornamented with pierced crowned fouled anchor and floral sprays, lion head pommel, set with ‘Port and Starboard’ ruby and green coloured glass eyes. The ivorine grip with twist wire binding. Now housed in associated plate steel scabbard with two loose rings. Some service wear to scabbard and lifting to plating otherwise VGC

Solingen’ logo and etched ’RZM M7/40/37’; ‘Blut und Ehre !’ motto on front. Nickel plated turn up quillon and pommel with two piece black chequered composition slab grip inlaid with red and white enamel HJ swastika diamond. Housed in black painted scabbard with leather belt loop retaining press stud securing strap. VGCIntroduced in 1933 with the motto “Blut und Ehre” on the blade. Motto discontinued in August 1938.

The blade is etched with Crowned WIVR Cypher, General Officer’s device and floral decoration. Gilt cross guard with floral decoration with General Officer’s device to the centre. Two piece Ivorine grip with two floral head gilt studs. Housed in black leather and gilt mounted scabbard, the top mount with the cutler’s details. Overall condition is good, etching to blade clear, some gilt dulling.

The double edged straight 32 inch blade is decorated with etched decoration. This includes a crowned VR cypher and to the reverse an Order of the Thistle Star. The cutler’s details are to the forte and the back of the blade with the number 6931. The hilt with full basket, retaining scarlet and buff leather lining. Housed in original black leather scabbard with steel mounts. To obverse of each mount with engraved decoration. Fitted with frog hook, to the top mount and two loose rings. Etching to the blade clear. The etching to the blade of the Order of the Thistle may indicate carried by an Officer of the Scots Fusilier Guards.

The obverse with entwined VR cypher and crown. Fixed guard of fire gilt metal bearing entwined VR Crowned Cypher. Shagreen grip with twist wire binding complete with buff sword knot. Housed in original steel scabbard now painted black. Etching to blade clear. The sword has been refurbished at some time and now with some minor wear to plating, traces of fire gilt to the hilt. GC.

The straight single edged blade with etched decoration of a GVR cypher, also the Regimental title and the owners name “G.R.B. HARRIES”. The forte with the cutlers details and the blade is numbered “46967”. Regulation pattern plated guard and shagreen grip, this retaining twist wire binding. Housed in polished field service brown leather scabbard. The blade with stain spots and now some surface rust. Plating to guard worn.Lieutenant George Robert Brian Harries passed out of the Royal Military College in December 1914 and landed in France on the 4th June 1915, he would later that year see service at Loos. He died in 1939

The plain clipped back 10 inch blade is double edged for the lower 5 inches, the upper section with a narrow fuller. The black bogwood grip is of an interlaced design decorated with silver studs (one absent) and surmounted by a plain silver pommel ornamented with a foiled citrine. The silver base of the grip which covers the throat of the scabbard is ornamented with thistles. Black leather covered sheath with applied thistle ornamented silver mounts; the middle two mount houses the matching knife and fork (both attached by chains and engraved “EHDM”; the top mount bearing “93” within a thistle wreath. Reverse of centre mount engraved “EHD Macpherson 93rd Highrs”. Some minor staining to blade, spring clip to fork AF, possibly replacement chape, minor service wear otherwise generally VGCEwen Henry Davidson Macpherson of Cluny born 1836, Ensign 93rd 3rd November 1854, Lieutenant 9th February 1855, Captain 12th May 1859, Bt-Major 5th July 1872, Major 29th October 1873, Lt.Colonel 1st January 1879 Bt-Colonel 1st January 1883, half-pay 1st January 1885. JP and DL for Inverness-shire. Died in Cheltenham 1900. Saw action in the Crimea shortly after joining 93rd and again during the Indian Mutiny taking part in the Relief of Lucknow and numerous battles; ADC to Governor of Bengal etc.

The clipped back 11 inch blade is double edged for the lower 4 inches, the upper section with a wide fuller and retains faint etching of Crowned VR Cypher and other decoration. The black bogwood grip is of an interlaced design decorated with silver studs and surmounted by a plain silver pommel ornamented with a foiled citrine. The silver base of the grip which covers the throat of the scabbard is inscribed ‘ARGYLL HIGHLANDERS’. Black leather covered sheath with thistle ornamented silver mounts each bearing registration mark indicating 26th March 1864; central mount also inscribed “XCI” and houses the matching side by side knife and fork; the top mount bearing a Crowned saltire with VR between the angles. Some staining to blade and minor service wear otherwise generally VGCTop mount and throat bear scratch initials THB attributed by vendor to Thomas Holme Banks born 1847, Ensign in 91st 8th June 1867, Lieutenant 28th May 1870, Instructor of Musketry 1st January 1873, retired 1st September 1875. Lower mount bears scratched initials TOT attributed by vendor to Arthur Ely Tottenham who possibly purchased the dirk from the above Officer. Tottenham appears as a Sub Lieutenant and Lieutenant 1873, Captain 1st July 1881, Major 11th July 1884, retired 15th April 1896, died in Ireland 20th June 1908 (served with 91st in Zulu War 1879)

Housed in an early pattern dark brown leather scabbard with nickel rounded chape and strap and stud retainer. The overall condition is near very good clean condition, blade length 17cmMr Ron Flook in his excellent work “British Commonwealth Military Knives” describes the stores reference number as an Admiralty example, 1950’s / 1960’s and indicates issue to Royal Marine Commandos.

To the lower grip a WD Arrow and 2 stamp Double edged spear point blade, with straight oval cross guard. Housed in original dark brown leather scabbard with rounded chape and retaining tangs. Blade length 18 cm. The Parkerised finish has been removed from the grip and chape. GC.

WW2 Period American Office of Strategic Services (OSS) Fairbairn Sykes fighting knife.A very good and rare example of the pattern modelled on the British F-S Fighting Knife. Double edged spear point blade mounted into a Parkerised metal chequered cut grip, with oval cross guard. Housed in brown leather scabbard tailored with “pancake flipper” belt loop, both “flipper “ and chape retaining most of the original green painted finish. GC clean condition. Blade length 17cmThis pattern of knife was extensively used by the OSS during WW2 operations and was again carried into action by the CIA during the Bay of Piggs invasion
