A rare Masonic walking cane c.1900, the black leather covered steel cane with silver plated ferrule and rounded knop, the knop unscrewing to reveal a concealed ceremonial sword to the interior, with brass wire grip and brass and black leather scabbard, the decorative engraved blade signed `Kenning, London, Liverpool, Manchester & Glasgow`, 36in. (91.5cm.) long. .
A NEPALESE HORN HANDLED KUKRI, 20th century, the pommel carved as a stylised tiger, the typical curved blade housed within a leather covered scabbard with ornate embossed white metal mounts. 45cm(L) Condition Report: Corrosion to blade, bye knives lacking, marks scratches and minor denting to scabbard.
A VICTORIAN OFFICERS 1874 PATTERN SWORD having a pierced and engraved hilt and shagreen grip, the curved and fullered single edge blade with remains of etching, manufactured by Jones, 6 Regent street, London, scabbard lacking. 94cm(L) Condition Report: Tarnishing to blade, some knocks and bending to hilt.
Four: 1939-45 star, Burma star, Defence and War, with a Burma Star Association membership card (none named). Together with a WWII Sergeant’s battledress blouse dated 1942, with RWAFF cloth titles and shoulder patches, pair trousers, khaki shirt. A Ross Rifle bayonet dated 1/16 (spring button missing) in scabbard with leather frog. Also a quantity of letters from WWII, to a soldier in the RASC and possibly related, between addresses in Sussex, including a letter April 10th 1941 “...I expect you have heard that Hastings was bombed in the early hours of Monday morning....two to our three hospitals had direct hits...” and sundry other items.
A Third Reich Army officer’s dagger, by Eickhorn, with dark orange/brown plastic grip and silver plated mounts, in its sheath. Basically GC (grip chipped and cracked, some corrosion to mounts); also a 1907 SMLE bayonet by Wilkinson, in its scabbard, GC (lightly rusted and worn overall, point rounded off). (2)
An RN officer’s sword, c 1835, pipe backed blade 31”, etched with crowned fouled anchor and crowned 1816-37 R Arms within panels, regulation copper gilt half basket hilt with turn down inner portion and incorporating crowned fouled anchor, lion’s head pommel and facetted backstrap, wirebound sharkskin grip, in its leather scabbard with brass chape and locket with opposing rings. Basically GC, the hilt retaining approx 40% gilt (blade some wear and edge nicks). Plate 6

A Netherlands infantry officer’s sword, c 1800, curved, fullered blade 29½”, with narrow back fuller, etched in small script letters near forte “M.J. Chaussant” on one side and “fabricant a Liege” on the other, line engraved brass hilt, the flattened crossguard with facetted ball quillon, long langets with rounded ends, knucklebow broadening towards sloping pommel and backstrap, ribbed wooden grip, in its leather scabbard with locket and chape. Basically GC for age (some wear, pitting and dents overall). Plate 7

A rare and most interesting 1853 pattern cavalry trooper’s sword, specially made by Wilkinson’s for the Yokohama Mounted Rifles, almost straight, fullered blade 34½”, with narrow back fuller, etched logo of “Wilkinson Pall Mall London” on one side at forte, signaturer of J Latham (the owner of Wilkinsons at that date) and no 14416 on fore edge at forte, scrolls “Yokohama Mounted Volunteers” on the other side of blade, regulation steel hilt with flattened knucklebow, sideloop and 3 sidebars, in its steel scabbard with 2 rings; with photostat article stating that 20 of these swords were made for forces supporting the Japanese Emperor in the civil war of 1866. GC, the blade retaining most original finish (hilt and scabbard rusted overall). Plate 6
A good Continetal cavalry trooper’s sword c 1900, slightly curved fullered blade 35”, with clipped back tip, mark (unclear) and small stamp “RF” at forte, Italian style steel half basket guard with reinforced inner edge, French style cap shaped pommel and brass wire bound brown leather grips, in its steel scabbard with 2 rings, the top band stamped “601”. GC, with a dark patina to hilt and scabbard.
An 1899 pattern cavalry trooper’s sword, slightly curved fullererd blade 33”, marked /99 on backstrap with various stamps at forte, steel half basket guard, stamped I.Co.L.Y 213, with reinforced inner edge, diced leather grips, in steel scabbard with opposing rings. Basically GC (guard a little dented, old pitting and black paint to hilt and scabbard).

A German M18998/05 bayonet, with trimmed muzzle ring and no flashguard, by Simson & Co, Suhl, in steel mounted leather scabbard with frog (bayonet basically GC, scabbard FC); a kukri, with plain wood hilt and leather covered sheath; 2 African knives in leather sheaths; a fencing foil; and a modern chrome and enamel car badge of the Life Guards. QGC to GC (6)
A scarce saw back bayonet, similar to the P1875 Martini Henry, blade 18¾” with 7” saw back section and no trace of ordnance or other markings, the 20mm diameter muzzle ring fits a Snider artillery carbine but the groove will not fit the lug. FC; in a French Chassepot scabbard. A similar bayonet is illustrated in “The Bayonet Book” by Watts & White described as P1875 Martini Henry 2nd type, with 20¼” blade and crosspiece modified to fit the Snider carbine.
