A William IV Andrews of Pall Mall curved dress sword with brass scabbard, bone handle and brass hilt, the blade marked "Andrews No.9 Pall Mall London" bearing George IV motif & Brigadier-General baton & cross sword 91 cm long ( Provenance : Lt Col Lord Charles John Innes-Ker ) CONDITION REPORTS Scabbard approx. 77 cm long, has some wear and "dings" and dents, grip has some small splits and some chips and splits and some cracks and areas of loss, there appears to be a loop and/or fitments missing to the scroll end of the grip (please see photos), blade has some wear and scuffs and a little tarnish, length of blade approx. 77 cm, blade appears to fit quite smoothly into scabbard. Please note that this is William IV (not George IV).
A 19th Century Japanese carved ivory cased katana, the handle and scabbard decorated with figural scenes, signed on medallion to end of scabbard, blade 52 cm long, 75 cm long overall CONDITION REPORTS Overall with some wear and scuffs, some yellowing to the ivory, blade with some wear and tarnish, scabbard has been made in sections and sections are coming apart, one of the loops broken off and been re-glued, some splits to the banding between the ivory sections, generally a few small splits and blemishes to ivory.
A 19th Century Japanese carved ivory cased katana, the handle and scabbard decorated with figural scenes interspersed by rings of exotic birds and flowers, blade 62.5 cm long, 92 cm long overall CONDITION REPORTS Iron tang beneath the grip has some damage and losses, and rusting (please see photos), grip is loose and has quite a lot of glue, wooden lining to scabbard is split and taped and loose, blade has some wear and tarnish and is approx. 62 cm long, ivory casing is made in sections and sections have separated and been re-glued and are not quite straight, generally with some wear, scuffs and splits, sections currently fairly loose/unattached.
A GOOD QUALITY 19TH/20TH CENTURY JAPANESE TANTO, with a lacquered sheath, the kogatana knife with floral and scroll kozuka handle and signed blade, the kashira and kojiri protective end fittings of gilt bronze, the bronze kurigata cord fitting on the side of the scabbard finely decorated in silver and gold metal with waves and a shi-shi, 13.6in long overall, the visible part of the blade 8.4in long.

Royal Navy Georgian Napoleonic War Period Midshipman’s Dirk. Circa 1810 A good quality small example made by Reed & Co. of Portsmouth. The straight 6 inch double edged spearpoint blade is plain. The hilt with a floral engraved shaped circular guard and complete with turned ivorine / bone grip. Housed in original gilt scabbard with two loose rings and the retailers details. Clean condition gilt to scabbard worn to base copper.
German Third Reich Police Officer’s sword or ‘Degan’ by F.W. Holler, Solingen. A good clean example. Single edged plated 85 cm blade with cutler’s oval thermometer logo to the forte on one side. The hilt with plain “D” shaped guard, wire bound grip with inlaid police eagle and swastika within oval oak wreath. Housed in its painted black steel scabbard with plated mounts. Minor service wear, some staining to blade, generally GC.
German Third Reich TeNo Hewer by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen. A scarce example of the 1938 model, the blade bearing Eickhorn logo and “Ges. Gesch” eagle and swastika mark. Two piece white celluloid grip, the cross guard bearing a TeNo device, the eagle head shaped pommel ornamented with a cogwheel “eye”; housed in its nickel mounted black repainted painted regulation scabbard, the throat of which bears issue number 7315. Some service wear and pitting. Throat screws absent. Scabbard complete with pitted suspension clip with replaced leather loop. TENO (Technische Nothilfe) was the Technical Emergency Corps

A good clean example, the slightly curved blade with etched decoration of an entwined VR Crowned Cypher, also with the retailer’s details of Linmey London. The hilt of the regulation pattern, gilt brass open folding guard with VR cypher, enclosing a shagreen grip with twist wire binding. Housed in brass scabbard with two lose rings. Good clean condition etching clear.

The double edged straight blade with central fuller, bearing etched decoration of thistles and GVIR cypher one one side, thistle decoration with regimental title and grenade to the other. The forte with the cutler’s details. The hilt is fitted with full basket, this with buff leather and scarlet cloth lining and also crimson tassels. Housed in correct pattern brown leather scabbard with long blackened chape. One guard bar with fracture otherwise generally VGC

Napoleonic War Period Pioneers Sidearm Sword. An impressive heavy weight example, the flat 28 inch slightly curved blade with saw back and hatchet point. The solid brass guard with cross guard, terminating with animal head quillons and a central panel with a lion mask. Plain grip with screeching cockerel head pommel. Scabbard absent small amount of age wear.
Victorian Grenadier Guards Officer’s Sword by Wilkinson of London. A good regulation example by Henry Wilkinson (Serial No 29837, indicating manufacture in 1889), carried by Captain Gerard Lysley Derriman who served in the Boer War . Fine slightly-curved blade etched with regimental grenade and imperial crown above VR cypher reversed and intertwined. On one side, scrolls bearing eight battle-honours from Blenheim to Barrosa, the other side with honours from Peninsula to Egypt 1882 and owner’s initials ‘GLD’. The hilt with plated Gothic guard incorporating the grenade, and wire-bound shagreen grip. In its good plated scabbard. Etching to blade remains clear and bright, somewhat defective, particularly on inside of guard, otherwise GC. Gerard Lysley Derriman was educated at Eton and commissioned into the Grenadier Guards in November 1889. In the Boer War he was on the staff of the Imperial Yeomanry and then served in the S.A. Constabulary until 1904. Returning to the Grenadiers he was posted to France and whilst a Staff Captain met his death on 7th Aug. 1915 and was buried at le Trepart Military Cemetery.

Gilded brass eagle and swastika pommel and fouled anchor ornamented crossguard; wire bound white celluloid twist grip. Housed in gilt metal scabbard with lightening bolts with oakleaf bands retaining two loose rings and secured with spring clip. Minor service wear to gilt finish, small crack to lowest grip section. A good example with nickel mounts, the blade etched “Alles für Deutschland” and bearing maker’s oval logo. Housed in original brown painted scabbard with nickel mounts, the top mount with single suspension ring. Minor service, generally VGC SA (Sturmabteilung) “Brown Shirts” dagger introduced in 1933.

The German made blade with etched decoration including the words, “Union” and “Liberty”. The hilt with gilt guard and leather grip, this with twist wire binding, the binding now loose. Housed in original black leather and gilt mounted scabbard, The sword is of superior quality have engraved decoration of Trophy of Arms to the mounts. Blade clean, scabbard with a part break to the leather.

A good example by scarce maker example with twist wire bound blue leather grip, nickel plated mounts with gilt mobile swastika to centre of pommel and down swept crossguard on both sides. Double edged polished blade bearing A. W. Jr. knight logo. Housed in its dark blue leather covered scabbard with plated mounts and complete with hanging chains and ‘OLC’ stamped spring clip. Some scuffs to scabbard, slight wear to plating in places. GC Introduced in 1935.

Two piece bakelite grip, the front section of chequered design, the reverse plain. Housed in its black painted scabbard with nickel plated throat and chape; complete with its leather frog. Minor service wear. Overall VGC. Introduced in February 1938 and discontinued in 1940.

Black wooden grip inlaid with silvered eagle and enamelled circular SS device. Housed in original anodised, nickel mounted scabbard with single loose suspension ring. Minor pitting to blade, small surface chip to grip just above crossguard. GC
German Third Reich Government Official’s dagger circa 1939-42. A fine rare example with simulated mother of pearl grip and silver plated mounts. Eagle’s head ornamented pommel, crossguard and langet bearing an eagle and swastika, the blade unusually with no maker. Housed in its finely pebbled plated scabbard, the oakleaf bands retaining both loose suspension rings. Complete with knot or portepee. (Official Government knots were of Army pattern but smaller.) Generally VGC. Introduced in March 1939; production ceased in mid 1942.
6th Dragoon Guards (Carabiniers) 1887 Regimental Pattern Sword. A rare attributed example carried by Lieutenant William Percy Burnell Ward who was commissioned into the Regiment in 1887. The straight single edged blade with etched decoration of a crowned VR cypher, regimental device with title and Battle Honours the last being Afghanistan 1879-80. The blade also with the original owners entwined initials. The hilt with special pattern guard incorporating the Regimental device. The shagreen grip retains twist wire binding. Housed in steel scabbard. The blade remains in clean condition extra metal dulled.

Aluminium crossguard and langet bearing an eagle and swastika; the pommel ornamented with swastika and oakleaves. Housed in its plated metal scabbard fitted with two suspension rings. Complete with both straps attached to spring clip and with aluminium wire portepee (knot). Minor service wear. Luftwaffe dagger 1st pattern introduced in 1935, superseded by 2nd pattern July 1937.

This example with a curved single edged blade with fuller, the forte with the date 1864 and “D.R.” stamp. The hilt with a single brass D Shape guard with down swept quillon. The leather covered ribbed grip with heavy brass pommel. Housed in steel scabbard with two loose rings. Clean condition.
Edwardian Royal Army Medical Corps Attributed Officer’s Sword. A rare Edwardian levée weight example by E.J. Jones, King St., St. James’s London. Narrow dumbbell blade deeply etched with foliate decoration, EVIIR cypher, Corps badge and motto ‘In Arduis Fidelis’, and owner’s initials M.F.F. Hilt with gilt-brass Gothic guard with royal cypher in the cartouche and wire-bound shagreen grip. Housed in its steel scabbard. Some pitting to blade, one grip-wire loose, some discolouration to scabbard. Attributed to Major Mathias Frederick Foulds, Lieut. Apr. 1901, at the outbreak of the Great War he held the rank of Major and was serving at St. Helena.
18th Century Smallsword, with Swivel Polished Steel Bar Guard. A good quality example, the narrow straight double edged 31 inch blade with engraved floral decoration. The hilt with a polished steel ribbon decorated guard with fixed single D shape knucklebow and swivel steel ornate ribbon decorated bar guard. The white ivorine / bone grip with reeded decoration and terminates with a polished steel Urn pommel. Housed in original black leather and steel mounted scabbard. Good clean condition.

Near Parade Condition.
Scottish RAMC Unit Highland Regiment Pattern Officer’s Broadsword, By Wilkinson. A superb and rare Elizabeth II example. The double edged straight blade with double fuller. Bearing etched decoration of a Crowned EIIR cypher, thistle decoration and regimental device of the RAMC. The forte with the cutler’s details of Wilkinson and the blade is numbered 89415 (1966) The hilt is fitted with full basket, this with buff leather and scarlet cloth lining and also crimson tassels. Housed in correct pattern black leather scabbard with silver plated top mount and chape. Near Parade Condition. Possibly carried by an Officer of 225 Medical Regiment, this being Scotland's oldest surviving medical unit with history that goes back to 1739. Their full dress being as a kilted Highland Regiment.

This appears to have metal simulated shagreen grip of the Wilkinson patent hilt style. Housed in steel scabbard. The blade remains in very clean condition, scabbard and hilt with surface rusting and pitting. The forte with details of Reeves Greaves & Co Makers to the board of Ordnance and the Hon East India Company.

Housed in original brown painted scabbard with nickel mounts, the top mount with single suspension ring retaining brown leather strap with spring clip. Minor service wear. Generally near VGC. SA (Sturmabteilung) “Brown Shirts” dagger introduced in 1933.

Housed in original gilt scabbard with two loose rings. This with the cutler’s details of “Milbourne 93 Strand” Clean condition, gilt worn. Milbourne operated from 93 Strand Circa 1808 to 1814

Housed in its dark blue leather covered scabbard with aluminium mounts and complete with hanging chains and ‘OLC’ stamped spring clip. VGC Introduced in 1935.

The hilt with plain fire gilt circular guard and complete with square tapering ivorine / bone grip, with gilt metal cap and ball pommel. Housed in original gilt scabbard with two loose rings. Clean condition gilt to scabbard remains bright with approx. 75% present to base copper.
WW1 Royal Field Artillery Attributed Officer’s Sword. This sword is attributed to Lieutenant Guy Homfray Pinsent MC. The sword is the regimental pattern with a plain blade. The forte is engraved “Lieut Guy H Pinsent MC RFA 1914-1919” The hilt with open three bar guard. Complete with leather field service scabbard. The sword is now with heavy age and storage wear. Captain Guy Homfray Pinsent MC served with the RFA during the Great War and remained with the Reserve of Officer’s until 1939 when he reached the age limit for service. At that time he was serving with the Loyal Regiment.
German Third Reich Forestry Service sidearm / cutlass. A good scarce senior forester’s example, the 33 cm blade with etched panel either side depicting hunting scenes. Simulated ivory grips ornamented each side with three gilt acorns, gilt knucklebow joining the pommel in a deer’s hoof design; gilt clamshell guard. Housed in original dark brown leather scabbard with gilt mounts and acorn frog stud; complete with leather frog dated 1937, retaining aluminium wire and green thread knot. One acorn on reverse of grip a replacement, the others with verdigris.

Black turned ebonised grip with applied silvered star bearing black enamel swastika; the langet bearing stylised eagle and swastika. Blade retains most original finish and bears maker’s oval logo. Housed in its black nickel mounted scabbard with hangre. Minor service wear. Generally VGC RLB was the Air Raid Precautions.
