Snake-shaped knuckle guard. London, silver stamps and "TS" stamp probably standing for Thomas Shekleton.The Lieutenant Colonel Richard Kelly enlisted in the41st Regiment of Foot the 12th of January 1799, then in 1802 in the 66th (Berkshire) Regiment of Foot; in 1809 he arrived in Portugal and, after the Senior Official was gravely wounded, he led the Regiment for two years. He guided the Regiment during the battle of Talavera and, after being wounded, he was honored with the Gold Medal. He left the 66th Regiment in 1811 (his officials gave him this outstanding sabre in this occasion) and he enlisted the 4th Regiment with the rank of Major and he ended his career becoming Lieutenet Colonel in the 83rd Regiment (County of Dublin) of Foot.
