A 1796 PATTERN INFANTRY OFFICER'S SWORD, 82.5cm blade decorated with scrolling foliage, stands of arms, floral sprays, crowned Royal arms and crowned GR cypher, the latter two centred with in a rayed star or sun burst, all highlighted in gilt on a blued ground, regulation copper gilt hilt with D-shaped knuckle guard, urn pommel, wire bound grip, contained in its steel scabbard. The rayed star or sun burst that surrounds the cyphers is perhaps reflective of the Coldstream Guards regimental motif. Scabbard pierced above the chape to one side.

A VERY RARE 1796 PATTERN INFANTRY OFFICER'S SWORD TO THE 7TH REGIMENT OF FOOT (ROYAL FUSILIERS), 81cm, broad flattened diamond section blade by Eginton, etched with scrolling foliage, a stand of arms, the figure of Britannia, crowned Royal Arms, crowned GR cyphers and crowned regimental device surmounted by 7th, regulation copper gilt hilt, the inside of the shell guard applied with a crowned regimental device to either side, D-shaped knuckle bow, urn pommel, wire bound grip, contained in its copper gilt mounted leather scabbard, the upper mount with maker's panel. Wear to lower scabbard leather.
A GEORGIAN NAVAL DIRK, 41cm flattened diamond section fullered blade etched EDWARD EDWARDS OWEN 1794-1838, characteristic copper gilt hilt with cushion pommel, the reeded ivory grip with engraved central copper band with traces of a rampant lion, contained in its copper gilt mounted leather scabbard. Scabbard leather replaced, together with a further Georgian naval dirk, 35cm flattened diamond section fullered blade, copper gilt anchor form hilt with tapering ivory grip. (2) There is an Edward Edwards Owen listed as a Lieutenant in 1827 in the Navy List.

AN 1805 PATTERN NAVAL OFFICER'S SWORD, 81.5cm blade etched with scrolling foliage, laurel wreaths, crowned fouled anchor and crowned Royal arms, regulation gilt stirrup hilt, the langets engraved with fouled anchors, wire bound fishskin grip, contained in its copper gilt mounted leather scabbard, the upper mount with maker's panel for MITCHELL & SON PORTSMOUTH.
AN 1805 PATTERN NAVAL OFFICER'S SWORD TO JOESPH WILLIAM CRABBE (SIC) HMS UNITE, 81cm fullered blade with traces of etched decoration to include scrolling foliage and crowned GR cypher's, the back edge of the forte etched with owner's details, regulation copper gilt stirrup hilt, wire bound fishskin grip, contained in its copper gilt mounted leather scabbard, the upper mount with maker's table for Drury. The French 40 gun ship Imperieuse was captured from the French by Admiral Gell on the 11th of October 1793 and renamed Unite in 1804. Joseph William Crabb entered the Navy on the 4th of September 1801 as a Midshipman on the Royal Sovereign then Acasta, Doris, Diamond, Chiffonne and then the Unite under Captain Henry Chamberlayne. Crabb was involved with the capture of numerous ships, Il ROnco, Nettuno and the Touile - promoted Lieutenant. Wounded in the groin by a Langridge shot. 1811 Capture of the Dromadaire. Commanding Unite's boats he cut out the St. Francois de Paul and later the same day took three merchant ships. Gazetted twice. After a four hour running fight with the Persanne Crabbe, senior lieutenant again distinguished himself and gazetted. The scabbard leather is replaced which is covered in a letter from Wilkinson Sword dated 1966, accompanied by various letters and research dating to 1966. It has been suggested that Crabb's exploits form part of the basis for Hornblower.
AN EARLY 19TH CENTURY MIDSHIPMAN'S HANGER, 65.75cm fullered blade, patinated, regulation copper gilt stirrup hilt, the langets chased with crowned fouled anchors, wire bound chequered wooden grip, flat lion's head pommel, contained in its copper gilt mounted leather scabbard. Repair to scabbard leather.
A FRENCH CUIRASSIER'S ANXIII SWORD, 97cm double fullered blade with hatchet point, Borson, Aply and Lobstein poincons to the forte, dated 1814 on the back edge, regulation four-bar brass hilt the knuckle guard stamped 225 and bearing matching poincon, wire bound ribbed leather grip, contained in its black painted steel scabbard.
A FRENCH CUIRASSIER'S ANXIII SWORD, 85.5cm double fullered blade with spear point, various rubbed stamps to the forte and dated 1810 on the back edge, regulation four-bar brass hilt the knuckle guard stamped 142 and bearing, amongst others a Borson poincon, ribbed leather grip, buff knot, contained in its steel scabbard marked 143 7.
A 19TH CENTURY FRENCH SMALLSWORD, 77.5cm triangular section incurved blade decorated with scrolling foliage, stands of arms and a maker's panel for COULAUX KLINGENTHAL, characteristic hilt decorated with classical symbols, D-shaped knuckle bow, reeded wooden grip, contained in its leather scabbard. Metal parts painted gold and chape replaced.
A 19TH CENTURY CONTINENTAL NAVAL OFFICER'S SWORD, 83.5cm triangular section incurved blade decorated with scrolling foliage, laurel wreaths and stands of arms, all highlighted in gilt on a blued ground, regulation gilt hilt, the down turned guard decorated with an anchor and oak leaves, D-shaped knuckle guard, spherical pommel, two-piece fluted mother-o'-pearl grips, contained in its brass mounted leather scabbard. Scabbard complete but fragile.
A 19TH CENTURY FRENCH OFFICER'S SWORD, 77cm triangular section incurved blade decorated with scrolling foliage, laurel wreaths and stands of arms, all highlighted in gilt on a blued ground, regulation gilt hilt, the down turned guard decorated with a lion dormant on a shield upon a bed of arms, ornate knuckle guard and mounts decorated in the classical manner, reeded mother-o'pearl grips, contained in its gilt mounted leather scabbard by Salter, decorated naval motifs. Salter is known to have mounted trophy blades and prepared scabbards for trophy swords, this one in two parts and with chape lacking.
AN 18TH HUSSARS OFFICER'S MAMELUKE, 77cm curved clipped back blade etched with scrolling foliage, a laurel wreath, regimental device and crowned VR cypher, regulation copper gilt hilt decorated with scrolling foliage and applied with a regimental device, two-piece riveted ivory grips, grip chipped, contained in its plated steel scabbard with scrolling foliate copper gilt pierced mounts, complete with sword bag.
A WILLIAM IV FIRST LIFEGUARDS OFFICER'S SWORD, 94.5cm blade etched with a crowned WIVR cypher above a laurel wreath to either side, further etched with a maker's panel for ANDREWS, 9 PALL MALL regulation pierced steel hilt with applied crowned brass regimental cypher and domed rivet decoration, wire bound fishskin grip, contained in its steel scabbard. William Andrews succeeded his father John Andrews in 1826 and was based at 9 Pall Mall until 1868.
AN EIIR LIFEGUARDS OFFICER'S SWORD, 94.5cm clean blade by Wilkinson, serial no. 72120 etched with scrolling foliage, regimental motif, full battle honours and an EIIR cypher, retains all of its original polish on a matt grey ground, regulation pierced plated hilt applied with the regimental motif in brass, wire bound fishskin grip, contained in its steel scabbard.
AN 1887 PATTERN HEAVY CAVALRY OFFICER'S UNDRESS SWORD TO THE 17TH LANCERS, 88.75cm blade by Wilkinson, serial no. 39207 for 1902, etched with scrolling foliage, crowned EVIIR cypher, crowned Royal Arms, regimental motif and owner's crest, demi-lion holding a boar's head, and initials - Evans family, regulation pierced steel hilt with wire bound patent solid hilt, contained in its steel scabbard.
AN 1821 PATTERN LIGHT CAVALRY OFFICER'S SWORD TO THE 18TH HUSSARS, 88cm blade by Wilkinson, serial no. 29696 for 1889, etched with scrolling foliage, crowned VR cyphers, regimental motif and battle honours to Waterloo, regulation three-bar steel hilt, wire bound fishskin grip, contained in its steel scabbard.
