A large collection of military clothing, equipment and related items, all the property of Major Eustace Archibald Remant R.E. (born 1894), contained in his original (named) Alkit Ltd trunk. Major Remnant fought in WWI in the Dardanelles, France and Flanders, and then again during WWII in France, with his medal record being: 1914-15 Star, General Service Medal 1914-18, Victory Medal, Territorial Efficiency Medal, Coronation Medal 1937, French Dardanelles Medal 1915, Special Constabulary Reserve Long Service Medal and 1939-43 Star. The collection here includes uniform and accessories from both wars (to include a dress uniform), together with two Belgian flags, medal ribbons (no medals present), his coin purse, a bayonet and scabbard, photographs of Major Remnant and a photocopy of his B199A Army Form, detailing his career in detail. Worthy of further inspection.Footnote: Although retained by the family, please see the attached document illustrating Major Remnant's medals and honours including the British War Medal, Efficiency Medal, Defence Medal, Special Constabulary Long Service Medal, France & Germany Star and various others.

Silver, 7.67 grams. 46.50 mm. A silver sheet metal scabbard chape of conical-form. scalloped around the top with incised line decoration in the form of VIVI, below on the face of the piece is a central panel with foliate design. Two rivet holes, for attachment to a leather scabbard, pierce the chape on both narrow sides near the upper edge. From a private collection, purchased from a London dealer.

Imperial German Model 1888 Kommissionsgewehr Bayonet, an interesting example being a modified French model 1874 Gras bayonet with the wooden grip being extended and the muzzle ring being changed. Blade has the French arsenal engraving to the edge ground off and Alex Coppel Solingen makers stamp added to the forte. Housed in the original steel scabbard. The blade measures 52cms, overall 68cms. Believed to be modified in 1915 to fit the German model 1888 rifle and re-issued to the Landsturm.

Imperial German M98/05 Bayonet, good untouched example with steel scabbard which still retains much of the field grey paint finish. Two piece wooden slab grips with acceptance stamp to the top pommel. Swollen blade with fuller to the back edge. Simson & Co Suhl makers mark and crowned W 15 stamp to the spine. The blade with some wear and small nicks. Dents to the metal scabbard. Blade 36 ¼ cms, overall 52 ½ cms.

Alex Coppel Solingen makers mark. Edge of the blade with acceptance stamp and date for 1911. Some sharpening to the blade and pitting to the exterior fittings. Leather scabbard has shrunk so bayonet does not fit tight. Blade 36 ½ cms, overall 52cms.
