A Japanese World War II katana with gilt brass tsuba, the cloth wrapped shagreen handle with floral menuki housed in a brown leather covered scabbard CONDITION REPORTS Numerous surface scratches, scuffs, areas of loss to the leather and the internal wood section of the scabbard. Oxidisation to the metal areas on the scabbard. Areas of staining, etc, accretions. The sword itself has numerous surface scratches, staining, accretions, areas of discolouration. The blade has tarnishing and areas of rust. The blade edge or ha has some knocks and dents as does the boshi. The habaki has some oxidisation and some areas of rust. Some accretions and tarnishing. The tsuba has some areas of oxidisation, accretions, some areas of rust to the plates either side of the tsuba. The tsuka or handle has some parts of the ray skin missing on both sides. Oxidisation to the metal inserts under the cord wrap. The cord wrap itself has some discolouration, fading, staining, accretions, etc. The kashira or pommel has oxidisation to the metal, accretions, etc. The blade removes easily from the scabbard. Unknown if tang is signed as peg is very tight and do not want to force it. Blade length approx 62 cm. General wear and tear commensurate with age and use. See photos for more details.
A CONTINENTAL POSSIBLY FRENCH/GERMAN YATAGHAM STYLE RIFLE BAYONET, possibly for use on several types of continental rifle, 1856 era, the blade is marked with the Knights helmet marks for Weyersberg Germany, a bone handled dagger by Sheffield maker A Wright & Son in a leather scabbard, blade has been machine sharpened at some stage and a crudely made Machete, no markings
