Georgian Napoleonic War Period Royal Navy Fighting Sword. This example with single edged curved 27 inch blade. The hilt with a single gilt brass guard, the langets with engraved fouled anchor and unusual Naval Crown device. The grip retains a large part of it’s leather cover with wire binding. Scabbard absent, only faint etching to the blade visible.
German Third Reich RAD hewer by Eickhon, Solingen A good nickel example of the 1934 model, the blade bearing etched motto “Arbeit adelt”, the reverse with RJAD in triangle, “Ges. Gesch” and oval maker’s logo with squirrel, two piece simulated stag horn grip with stylised eagle pommel. Housed in its black painted regulation scabbard, the top mount with ornate design. A little service wear, chape screws absent. GC Reichs Arbeits Dienst was the State Labour Service.
WW2 scarce 2nd pattern Fairbairn Sykes personalised fighting knife. A good rare example with Parkerised grip with chequered design. Double edged spear point blade, etched with the Wilkinson Sword Logo, & F.S Fighting Knife panel, to the forte. The blade also etched with a ribbon bearing initials “J.H.L.” Hilt with straight oval cross guard. Contained in original dark brown leather scabbard with Parkerised chape Leather tangs and upper section of scabbard absent. Overall GC, some service wear, Parkerised furniture worn to base brass.
Royal Scots Field Officer’s Victorian Sword. An extremely rare example of the “Thistle Hilt” pattern worn by mounted officers but (despite broadsword pattern blade) in levee size. Retailed by J Jones, 6 Regent St. Very narrow blade of claymore style, with twin fullers each side, plain except for Royal Arms at forte. Plated thistle motif guard with St Andrew in the centre (similar to Robson 2nd Edition, Fig 178). Scarlet hilt liner with buff inside lining and blue edges. Crimson silk tassel. In its slender plated scabbard with 2 rings and ball finial. Blade approximately 2 in. shorter than scabbard, suggesting possible slight shortening, otherwise near VGC.
German Third Reich Police Bayonet by Alexender Coppell, Solingen. A good 33 cm blade example with eagle’s head pommel, eye for show only. Two piece simulated stags horn grip bearing silvered police device. The cross guard bears oak leaf decoration. The plated blade bears maker’s details on one side, maker’s scales logo on the other; matching S.Ar.I.604 stamp to back of the grip backstrap as well as scabbard top mount. Housed in black leather scabbard with plated mounts and complete with black leather frog. No movement to blade. Minor service wear, overall VGC.
German Third Reich 1933 model SS dagger by Robert Klaas, Solingen. A fine example, the blade etched “Meine Ehre heist Treue” (My Honour is Loyalty), and bearing Klaas ‘kissing cranes’ logo. Nickel plated mounted black wooden grip inlaid with silvered eagle and swastika and enamelled circular SS runes device. Housed in repainted black scabbard. Grip eagle replaced. GC
German Third Reich Heer (Army) Officer’s dagger. A good unmarked example with amber twist grip and silver plated aluminium mounts. Oak leaf ornamented pommel, crossguard and langet bearing an eagle and swastika; plain blade. Housed in original plated scabbard retaining both loose suspension rings, the bands that support them are worn. A little service wear and dent to scabbard. GC Army (Heer) Officer’s dagger was designed by Paul Casburg in 1935.
German Third Reich TeNo Hewer by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen. A scarce example of the 1938 model, the blade bearing Eickhorn logo and “Ges. Gesch” eagle and swastika mark. Two piece white celluloid grip, the cross guard bearing a TeNo device, the eagle head shaped pommel ornamented with a cogwheel “eye”; housed in its nickel mounted black painted regulation scabbard, the throat of which bears issue number 5268. Some service wear and lifting to plating. TENO (Technische Nothilfe) was the Technical Emergency Corps
Coldstream Guards Officer’s Regimental Pattern Sword A good example of Regimental pattern. The blade etched with the Regimental device and Battle Honours the last being “Modder River”. Also the original owner’s initials of N.E.P.S.”. The forte with the retailer’s details of Edward Smith. The hilt of regulation pattern incorporating the Regimental device, the shagreen grip retaining twist wire binding. Housed in polished brown field service scabbard. The sword has at some stage being professionally refurbished and is now in near parade condition.

White ivorine grips, the blade bearing etched motto “Arbeit adelt”, the reverse with maker’s oval tree logo; the crossguard langet bearing the RAD device of a swastika set upon a spade head emerging from a spray of wheat. Housed in original dark brown anodised scabbard with nickel plated mounts, the top one missing a throat screw, with single loose suspension ring. Minor service wear GC. SA (Sturmabteilung) “Brown Shirts” dagger introduced in 1933.

German Third Reich Hitler Youth Knife by Tiger of Solingen circa 1933-38. A good example, the blade bearing Tiger logo with “Tiger, Solingen”’ and with the motto “Blut und Ehre”. Nickel plated turn up quillon and pommel with two piece black chequered composition grip inlaid with red and white enamel HJ swastika diamond. Housed in black painted scabbard with brown leather belt loop retaining press stud on securing strap. Some service wear, blade has been sharpened. GC Introduced in 1933 with the motto “Blut und Ehre” on the blade. Motto discontinued in August 1938.
Imperial Russian 1894 dated Cossack shaska. The single edged slightly curved blade with wide fuller, to the forte can be seen the date 1894. The Caucasian style hilt with ribbed sectional wooden grip and heavy brass pommel. The base of the grip with faint basic engraving and number 1-106. Housed in leather covered wooden scabbard with brass mounts. Minor wear GC clean condition.
Royal Artillery Officer’s Sword by Wilkinson with Patent Hilt. A good example with the Wilkinson solid patent hilt. The straight single edged blade with etched decoration depicting the regimental title and crest. The forte with the cutler’s details of Henry Wilkinson and the blade is numbered “36984”. The hilt is of the regulation pattern, with three bar open guard and the patent all metal grip. Housed in steel scabbard, this fitted with two loose rings. GC slight age wear, blade clean, with a two stained areas.

The straight double edged blade with double fuller and clear etched decoration depicting, a GvR crowned cypher and thistles. The alternative hilt with crossguard and large disc pommel to the shagreen grip. Housed in polished brown leather scabbard with steel mounts. VGC Near Parade condition, little wear to the leather of the scabbard.
Victorian Princess Louise, Duchess of Argyll, Crested Officer’s Mameluke Hilted Sword by Wilkinson of London. A magnificent example, believed to have been carried by an equerry to the Princess. The slightly curved single edged unfullered scimitar blade with etched decoration, depicting The Princess’s cypher to both sides with the addition of a family crest of an Oak Tree with a shield resting beside it. and initials “S.W.”. The forte with the cutler’s details of Wilkinson and the blade is numbered 22809 (Circa 1878). The hilt with gilt Cross guard with embossed floral decoration, to the centre the Princess’s cypher in silver. Two piece plain grip with two gilt floral pateri. Housed in polished steel scabbard, with embossed floral gilt mounts, fitted with two loose rings. Near VGC.
Elizabeth II General Officer’s 1831 pattern Mameluke hilted sword By Wilkinson A good and rare example made by Wilkinson of London and numbered 91431. The blade is etched with Crowned EIIR Cypher, General Officer’s device and floral decoration. Gilt cross guard with floral decoration and General Officer’s device to the centre. Two piece grip with two floral head gilt studs. Housed in original plated scabbard with two loose rings. Fitted with gold bullion and crimson silk sword knot. The sword has been professionally refurbished, probably by Wilkinson and is in Parade condition. One floral head stud to grip absent.#11;#11;

WW2 Showa Period Japanese Officer’s “Surrender” Sword with accompanying Paperwork & Provenance. A scarce near complete grouping, this being the sword of Lieutenant Yosuida an Artillery Officer of the Southern Army. Comprising: Sword, this with a 27 inch polished blade of good quality. The tang with maker’s stamps, indicating made by O-Gawa Kanekuni of Noshu Province. The hilt with military mounts the pommel with a family “Mon” indicating Yosuida. Housed in painted metal scabbard. The sword retains original sword knot and brown leather field cover for the handle. The scabbard with original linen surrender label giving details of the original owner and his unit details. Good clean condition ... The sword is accompanied by the original Certificate of Possession allowing 14763319 Sergeant R Brown to have the sword issued by the Special Investigation Branch May 1946 ... A photograph of Sergeant Brown and Lieutenant Yosuida ... Silk Japanese Prayer flag with signatures. Overall condition is near Very Good a very complete and comprehensive grouping. Interpretation of tang markings and surrender label accompanies the lot. The interpretation of the markings on the tang and label are supplied by the vendor. Potential buyers should satisfy themselves to the accuracy of the interpretation before bidding.

Victorian 1899 Royal Engineer Officer’s Pattern Issue Sword. A scarce example of an Officer quality sword, probably made for the Regimental pool to be issued to Senior NCO’s. The single edged slightly curved blade with etched decoration of a Crowned VR cypher and title Royal Engineers. The forte with the cutler’s details of Robert Mole and with various inspection stamps and issue marks, indicating 1899. The hilt with Officers special Regimental pattern guard with shagreen grip and twist wire binding. Housed in original steel scabbard fitted with two loose rings. The etching to the blade is clear, the scabbard now with dark patina and surface pitting.

A good 1892 pattern infantry officers sword, straight blade 32½”, by “Robt Mole & Sons, Birmingham, Makers to the War & India Offices”, etched with flat topped crown, R Arms and wreath on one side, and crowned elaborate VR cypher and wreath on the other, all in stylized foliate panels, regulation triple bar gilt hilt with side loop and incorporating crowned VR cypher, plain pommel and chequered backstrap, wirebound fishskin grip, VGC, retaining virtually all original polish and gilding, in its plated scabbard with 2 rings (some rust and bubbling overall) with chamois lined leatherette bag. A Vic RN officer’s sword, slightly curved, fullered blade 29½”, by Moore & Jupp, London, etched with R Arms and motto on one side and crowned fouled anchor on the other, all in scrolled panels, gilt half basket hilt incorporating crowned fouled anchor, turn down inner portion, lion’s head pommel and backstrap, wirebound sharkskin grip, in its black leather scabbard with gilt locket, middle band and chape, with 2 rings. Near VGC, the hilt and scabbard mounts retaining virtually all original gilt (a little wear and cleaning to blade). Plate 4
