Maker/Retailer marked "J.J Caney, 44 Cheapside, London" along with Masonic symbol and floral etched decoration. Brass crossguard. Turned wooden grip painted black. Overall length 310mm. Complete with brown leather scabbard. (This was originally a Masonic Knife and was later used as a Fighting Knife. Joseph John Caney was recorded as working at 44, Cheapside, by 1863. By 1905 the business was in the hands of his son, Stanley Caney. By 1916 the firm was styled J.J. Caney & Co. )
