The narrow blade etched with a Crowned VR cypher. and presentation script 'LONDON RIFLE BRIGADE PRESENTED TO DRILL SERGT J.G. TILT ON THE COMPLETION OF HIS 21ST YEAR SERVICE BY THE MEMBERS OF G Co. AND OTHER OLD COMRADES APRIL 1882'. The forte with the retailers details of 'Silver & Co. London'. The hilt is the regulation pattern with a Victorian crowned strung bugle device. Shagreen grip with twist wire binding. Housed in black leather and silver plated mounted scabbard. Etching clear.

Georgian Honourable East India Company Officer's Sword. A rare example, the single edged curved 32 inch blade with engraved crowned GR cypher and Royal Coat of Arms. The back of the blade with cutler's details. The ornate cross guard terminates with lion heads and the centre is embossed with a Company Lion device. A lion head pommel with gilt mane surmounts a white chequered grip. Housed in original red velvet covered scabbard, with gilt embossed mounts, these depicting a sheep's heads and monkey faces. Overall GC but PLEASE NOTE, pommel to hilt slack.

Napoleonic War Period French Hussar Officer's Sword with Indian Blade. A rare and unusual example, the curved 29 inch blade is plain with only gold inlaid Indian script towards the forte. The hilt with polished horn grips and a gilt cross guard with turned finials. The underside of the cross guard is stamped 'Versailles' and with a letter 'B'. Housed in original black leather and gilt mounted scabbard. Also retaining what appears to be the original bullion tassels. Sword fits tight to scabbard, some shrinkage to the leather, not effecting the overall appearance.

Early 19th Century Indian Gift Sword of Naval Interest. This sword is believed to be possibly a gilt to a European Naval Officer. The single edged 22 1/ 2 blade with damask. The hilt with a white grip and mounted with a most probably Indian silver (not tested) cross guard and langet. This with engraved decoration depicting King Neptune riding a chariot being pulled by two sea horses. This decoration is repeated to the silvered mounts of the blue velvet scabbard. GC.

The piped back slightly curved blade, with etched decoration depicting the Company Lion and initials 'E.I.C', floral decoration and the original owners name 'Captain George Fuller Carter'. The reverse etched '1st Madras Regiment' The open gilt brass guard, incorporating the the device of the Company a rampant lion holding a crown within it's paws. Shagreen grip with brass twist wire binding and surmounted by a lion head pommel. Housed in black leather and gilt mounted scabbard. Remains in good clean condition.

Life Guards Officer's Post 1901 State Pattern Sword. A scarce early 19th Century example, the single edged blade with retailer's name of Hamburger, Rogers & Co, 30 King Street. he remainder of the blade is plain. The polished steel guard is mounted with entwined gilt metal letters L.G, surmounted by a crown and bears gilt metal stud decoration. Shagreen grip with twist wire binding. Housed in plain steel scabbard and two loose rings. The hilt is with a later white buff lining and correct plain white buff leather knot. Minor wear to the scabbard. This sword would date from 1901 to 1917.

Napoleonic War Period British Officer's Magnificent Fighting Cutlas. An impressive large size fighting cutlas, the curved blade is a width of 2 1/s inches at the forte and a length of 35 inches. Half of the blade with blue & gilt engraved decoration, depicting a Crowned GR Cypher, Royal Coat of Arms and Britannia. The hilt made with a gilt open guard of floral decoration and this style of embossed decoration is repeated to the pommel and the back strap of the grip. The grip is of ebony with twist wire binding. Housed in original black leather scabbard with gilt mounts, these fitted with loose rings. The frog button appears to have been removed. The top mount with the cutler's details of 'Brown 104 Strand'. The blade retains approximately 30% of blue and gilt finish, small chips to grip.

Napoleonic War Period Mounted Cavalry Officer's Sword. A rare and unusual example, the curved single edged blade is a length of 31 1/2 inches. Bearing half length engraved decoration depicting Royal Coat of Arms, Britannia and cutler's details of 'Osborn, Gunby's Warranted. The hilt decorated with a silvered 'S' shape quillon one arm terminating in a chain knuckle guard, which is connected to the horse head pommel. The ebony wood grip with silver bands. Housed in original black leather a silvered mounted scabbard. The mounts supporting two fixed rings. The overall condition is good no blue & gilt decoration remains to the blade. British Military Swords by Harvey J S. Withers notes a similar example Page 111 it also states that similar example have been noted bearing Irish Silver Hallmarks to the metal work.

Napoleonic War 1805 West Midlothian Volunteer Infantry Presentation Sword. An impressive and rare presentation sword by the cutler Gibson Thomson & Craig of Edinburgh. The curved single edged blade with central fuller is approximately 29 1/2 inches long. The hilt appears to be a unique design, the fire gilt cross guard in the form of a Fascist, the base supporting a double link gilt chain which terminates with a ring supported by a lion head mask. This mounted into the white bone grip, this with lined and chequered decoration. The Fascist is mounted with langets of classical form decorated with three crescent moons. Housed in original shagreen scabbard, this with fire gilt mounts, engraved with floral decoration. The reverse of the top mount with the cutler's details and a engraved presentation 'PRESENTED BY THE NON COMMISSIONED OFFICERS & PRIVATES OF THE WESTERN REGT OF MIDLOTHIAN VOL INFY TO PATRICK WALKER ESQ THEIR MAJOR AS A MARK OF THEIR ESTEEM FOR HIM AS AN OFFICER & A GENTLEMAN 5TH NOV 1805'. The overall condition is very good, fire gilt remains bright, slight age wear to the blade with light rust areas to the forte. Dent to the chape, blade fully fits in the scabbard. Major Patrick Walker served with the 2nd Midlothian Regiment Western Battalion and was appointed Major on the 23rd November 1803, this appears to be the date the Regiment was formed.

Napoleonic War Period Cumberland Militia 1813 Presentation Sword. This light Company style sword with single edged curved 30 1/2 inch blade with engraved decoration of Britannia, a mounted Officer and a presentation script 'THIS SWORD PRESENTED TO CAPT R. PENNIINGTON OF ROYAL CUMBELD REGIMENT OF MILITIA BY THE OFFICERS. AS A MARK OF RESPECT 6TH MAY 1813'. The hilt similar to the 1796 Light Cavalry pattern, with fire gilt cross guard and single bar ring decorated guard. Complete with original black leather and gilt ornate mounted scabbard, fitted with two loose rings. The top mount with the cutler's details of S.Brunn of 55 Charing Cross London. Overall GC, gilt remains bright. Please Note. old repair to the bar guard and some restoration to the leather scabbard. No blue & gilt decoration to the blade remains. Captain R Pennington remained with the Militia and is noted in 1834 as still serving as Adjutant at that time living at Whitehaven.

Hebbert Pall Mall East London'. The hilt with polished steel cross guard and two piece grip retaining gilt pateri. Housed in steel scabbard of correct pattern, fitted with two loose rings. The sword and blade remain in good condition. The scabbard with deep pitting having been re-polished. Swords fits correctly, scabbard possibly not original to the sword. Charles Hebbert operated under this trade name from 1830 to 1849.

Housed in original polished silvered scabbard with two loose rings. Overall good clean condition. The cross over of the Edward VII cypher to the crossguard and George V Cypher to the blade would indicate Circa 1910-11 period.

Slightly curved fullered blade with etched floral decoration and presentation script 'PRESENTED TO CAPTAIN WATKINS BY THE NON COMMISSIONED OFFICERS AND PRIVATES OF THE 15TH WORCESTERSHIRE (OMBERSLEY) RIFLE CORPS AS A MARK OF THEIR ESTEEM'. The Gothic guard, cartouche containing Victorian crown above a bugle-horn with '39' in the curl. Shagreen grip with twist wire turnings. Housed in steel scabbard, fitted with two loose rings. Blade remains in clean condition scabbard and hilt with pitting. The number 39 denotes the county's precedence regarding the Volunteer corps raised from 1859

1900 Boer War City Imperial Volunteers Attributed CIV Sword by Wilkinson London. A rare attributed example carried by Captain S.C. Byrne who commanded a reinforcement draft of the CIV. The Victorian sword is the regulation Infantry pattern. The blade with etched decoration depicting crowned reversed VR cypher and a name scroll 'S.C. Byrne'. The forte with the cutler's detail of Wilkinson and the back of the blade with the number '38064' (1900). The hilt is of the regulation pattern, the guard with a crowned VR cypher, shagreen grip and twist wire binding. Housed in brown leather field service scabbard. The sword has been professionally plated at some time and the plating has peeled to parts. Captain S.C. Byrne served with the 21st Middlesex Rifle Volunteers and volunteered for service in South Africa. He was placed in command of a Reinforcement drat and was awarded the Queen's South Africa Medal, with three clasps 'Cape Colony', 'Orange Free State' and 'Transvaal', '

Royal Navy Edward VIII 1936 Midshipman's dirk. A rare example purchased by Midshipman Douglas Collier Salter RN who at the outbreak of WW2 was serving on the Battleship HMS Hood. The blade is etched with a crowned foul anchor and a crowned EVIIIR cypher. The shagreen grip is with wire binding and surmounted by a lion's head pommel. Housed in original black leather scabbard with gilt metal mounts and two loose rings and to the top mount. engraved initials 'DCS' Also with correct pattern bullion dirk knot. GC, blade clean. ... The dirk is accompanied by the correct pattern waist belt. (2 items) Lieutenant Commander Douglas Collier Salter was born in 1920. On the 1st September 1936 he was appointed a Midshipman and Acting Sub Lieutenant two years later 1938. At the outbreak of the war he was serving onboard HMS Hood and is noted as the Star Shell Control Officer. He was Mentioned in Despatches on the 4th October 1940 for operations off Norway. At the end of the war he was the Commanding Officer of the minesweeper HMS Wave and retired in 1959. He died in 1974.
