Surface of crossguard has three small blister dots. Generally good. 2 - Blade is indistinctly stamped with European lettering. Scuffing to the leather.

Brown Bess examples all with overall patches of rust and some pitting. Leather scabbard somewhat dry, lacking mounts and with some defective stitching. Enfield examples with significant rusting and pitting. Scabbard very dry and with some defective stitching. Frog probably associated.

Blade rusted into leather scabbard: blade therefore not examined. Crossguard and grip with usual wear commensurate with age and use. Scabbard stitching partly split. Leather very dry.

A 19th Century Continental Percussion Belt Pistol, converted from a flintlock, the 12.5cm round steel barrel octagonal at the breech and inset with maker's poincon,the walnut stock with single steel barrel band, steel trigger guard and belt clip, the butt with foliate chased brass pommel (af); also, a leather shot flask, a Sudanese machete and leather scabbard, a French M1872 Gras bayonet and scabbard and an arrow (5). Pistol - action does not work. Pitting to metalwork. Brass butt cap would originally have had spurs which are now missing. Shot flask is damaged. Machet blade has nicks to blade edge and leather scabbard is scuffed. Gras bayonet has pitting to scabbard.

Acton works. Minor pitting to metalwork. Bruising to stock with a sliver of wood missing from the left side of the fore-end near rearsight, and wax filler on the butt where roundels would have been.

A French Model 1831 ''Gladius'' Infantry Sword, stamped, ''Talabot, Paris'' to one side of the ricasso, with scabbard; and six various bayonets, comprising a Canadian Ross Mk.II example; a British Rifle No.4 Mk.I example; two similar, Mk.II examples, and two others similar but unmarked, one with apparent repair, all with scabbards, two with webbing frogs (7). Gladius blade significantly rusted and pitted. Brass hilt with dings and dents. Scabbard leather dry and with pins and clasp lacking to choke. All bayonet release mechanisms operative. Ross bayonet with some rust to blade which is also partly reground. Hilt with rusted metal parts. Scabbard dry but good. British Rifle bayonets generally good with the one stated exception.

Blade with overall rusting and pitting, some reasonably severe in places. Some wear to gilding on hilt. Scabbard with two tears to leather on one side. Some splits to stitching. Scabbard generally limp. Locket loose. Wear to gilt finish on mounts.

A 19th Century Fijian Kiakavo (Gunstock) War Club, the head with raised medial ridge and chip carved decoration, with slightly curved cylindrical haft and shallow domed butt, 97cm; a Partridge Wood Walking Cane, with baluster pommel and tapering cylindrical haft, 90.5cm; a Small Sword, with Toledo blade, black grip, gilt metal horse head Pommel and leather scabbard (3) . There is a 24cm fine crack running from the head and further fine cracks along the haft. The butt has numerous chips around the edge. The patina is bleached and dry.

First sword - Blade with very light rusting. Scabbard with some scuffing to leather. Otherwise good. Second sword - Blade with light rusting. Hilt similar. Fishskin grip badly worn and with some sections lacking. Wire binding incomplete. Scabbard with large dent to one side.

Sunwheel swastikas are not gilded. Possibly later chromium plated. Some wear to leather. Generally in good condition.
