A US cavalry trooper’s sword, curved fullered blade 34½”, with narrow back fuller for ¾ length, marked “US GKC 1865” on one side at forte and “Ames Mfg Co Chicopee Mass” on the other, brass hilt with guard, knucklebow and 2 sidebars, cap shaped pommel, wirebound leather grip, issue stamps (unclear) to back of guard, in its steel scabbard with 2 rings. Basically GC (blade reseated, some wear and light pitting,minor edge nicks). Plate 6

A good USA cavalry trooper’s sword, similar to French M1822, curved, fullered blade 36”, no visible markings, narrow back fuller to centre section, brass hilt, the guard with reinforced edges, knucklebow stamped “11” at the top, and 2 sidebars, forward sloping cap shaped pommel, wirebound leather grip, in its steel scabbard with 2 rings. Near VGC, the blade retaining most original finish. Plate 6
