A scarce mameluke to a regiment that only existed between September 1816 and September 1821.

A FINE INDIAN ARMY HORSE'S HEAD PRESENTATION SWORD TO THE MADRAS ARTILLERY, 70.5cm sharply curved blade etched with diminishing crescents, finely chiselled gilt horse's head stirrup hilt, the knuckle guard formed from entwined serpents, their heads forming the down turned quillon, gilt mounted red velvet covered wooden scabbard decorated with borders of scrolling foliage, faceted suspension rings passing through acanthus bud mounts, the throat with maker's panel P. Augier and presentation inscription From the Non-Commissioned Officer's and Matrosses of Captain M H Court's Company of Madras Artillery employed at the capture of Amboyna & its dependencies in the year 1810 to Captain Court as a small testimony of the respect & admiration they have for him. In February 1810 a force of three ships carrying detachments of the Madras Artillery and the Madras European Regiment attacked the Dutch Spice Island of Amboyna. Captain Major Court commanded the shore party which also included Marines and some Seamen totalling 401 men in all. After the successful capture of Amboyna the remaining major Spice Islands surrendered without bloodshed or resistance.

Scabbard lacking and minor crack to hilt side bar.

This style of flank officer's sword is attributed to the 51st Regiment of Foot or 2nd Yorkshire or West Riding Regiment, see pages 150 and 154 Swords of the British Army, 2nd edition, by Robson.
A GEORGIAN OFFICER'S SABRE, 75.5cm blade signed Osborn & Gunby Warranted, etched and gilt with scrolling foliage and stands of arms against a blued ground, and interspersed on each side with two bright etched panels of foliage and arms, copper gilt stirrup hilt, the back piece and langets cast with acanthus leaves, the knuckle guard pierced with acanthus, chequered ivory grip, contained in its leather scabbard with copper mounts engraved with geometric patterns within an acanthus border.
A VERY RARE REGIMENTAL PATTERN COFFIN HILT SABRE TO THE 10TH (PRINCE OF WALES'S OWN) LIGHT DRAGOONS, 78cm clean curved blade, regulation steel hilt with large diamond shaped langets, D-shaped knuckle guard with slightly downturned quillon, coffin-shaped pommel set with the Prince of Wales feathers in gold and brass, spirally fluted ebony grip, the whole set with and highlighted with polished faceted studs of graduated size, contained in its openwork steel scabbard, the three open panels trimmed in fishskin, some losses. It is suggested, given the fine quality and obvious stature of the hilt, that it was made for the commanding officer of the Regiment who at that time was in fact George, Prince of Wales.

AN INTERESTING LIFEGUARDS AND COLDSTREAM GUARDS OFFICER'S SWORD, 82cm blade by Wilkinson, serial no. 65917 for 1936, etched with crowned Coldstream Guards badge and battle honours, crowned GVIR cypher and owner's initials JHB, regulation steel hilt with brass stud decoration, later applied EIIR crowned Life Guards emblem, wire bound fishskin grip, contained in its field service scabbard.
THE SWORDS AND PORTRAIT OF LIEUTENANT GENERAL SIR GEORGE MONTAGUE HARPER KCB DSO HIGHLAND DIVISION, comprising an 1831 Pattern General Officer's sword by DANIELS, 80cm curved clipped back blade etched with scrolling foliage, crowned crossed sword and baton, laurel wreaths, crowned GVR cypher, and maker's panel, retaining good original polish and matt ground, regulation gilt hilt, two-piece ivory grips, one chipped, contained in its plated steel scabbard, some lifting, complete with knot, together with his 1897 Pattern Royal Engineers Officer's sword by ROBERT MOLE, contained in its field service scabbard, a framed and glazed pencil portrait of Harper in service dress titled "France 1916" and signed Leonard Smith, a boxed pair of General Officer's cufflinks and one shoulder insignia, a 9ct gold First War tank tie pin, a 1913 dated half crown engraved with a tank and a bi-plane and 1918, a later? Highland Division sleeve patch and a copy of The History of the Fifty First Division 1914-1918 by Brewsher. (Group) Lieutenant General Sir George Montague Harper (1865-1922) was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Royal Engineers in 1884, serving at the School of Engineering and promoted Captain while serving in India in 1892. Twice mentioned in Despatches during the Boer War he saw extensive service and rounded the campaign off with the receipt of the Distinguished Service Order. There then followed a number of staff appointments during the inter-war period, before going on to half-pay in 1911. The onset of the First World War saw Harper's appointment to the headquarters of the BEF. Principally his service during the First War was known for his command of the 51st (Highland) Division in France, serving at the Somme, Ancre, Arras, Menin Road and the Tank campaign at Cambrai. Leonard J. Smith (1892-?) was an artist, infantryman, sniper and camouflage designer who also made daring trips in to No Man's Land to map and sketch the German positions.

OF CRIMEA INTEREST AN 1822 PATTERN INFANTRY OFFICER'S SWORD, 82cm curved clean blade etched with scrolling foliage and crowned VR cyphers, maker's panel for LANDON & MORLAND, further etched with owner's initials RNC, regulation copper Gothic hilt incorporating a crowned VR cypher, wire bound fishskin grip, contained in its engraved copper mounted leather scabbard. The initials RNC are believed to be those of Richard Nugent Clayton who as of 1860 was a Lieutenant with the 13th Prince Albert's Regiment of Light Infantry and landed in the Crimea on the 13th of June 1855 and served at Tchernaya and the Siege and Fall of Sebastopol.

White and maker's panel for GILLOTT & HASELL, regulation copper gilt hilt incorporating the R.N.A.S. motif, folding side guard, lion's head pommel, wire bound fishskin grip, contained in its engraved copper gilt mounted leather scabbard complete with knot cord. A Captain James Butler White, DFC, served with the Royal Naval Air Service piloting Sopwith Camels with No. 8 Naval Squadron and secured twelve victories, qualifying as an ace, during the First World War.
A TRINITY HOUSE NAVAL SWORD, 76.5cm curved clean blade etched with scrolling foliage, fouled anchor, laurel wreath and the Trinity arms, regulation brass hilt incorporating the Trinity arms, lion's head pommel, wire bound fishskin grip, contained in an associated naval scabbard by Wilkinson.
A FRENCH 1ST EMPIRE OFFICER'S SABRE, 84cm curved blade decorated with scrolling foliage, flowerheads and stands of arms highlighted in gilt on a blued ground, the ornate gilt hilt decorated with neo-classical imagery, the oversized langets decorated with Athena and Mars, lion's mask pommel, chain knuckle guard, chequered wooden grip, contained in its gilt scabbard decorated with foliate and floral sprays within a geometric border.
