A letter opener in the form of a miniature Third Reich Hunting Association Hirschfanger, blade 5 3/4 in. and etched with stags, makers mark of E. & F. Horster, hilt with shell and deer foot quillons, metal simulated stag horn grip with hunting association badge, metal scabbard with centre section painted to simulate leather.
FOUR SIMILAR SECOND WORLD WAR PERIOD BAYONETS, one marked Alex Coppel Solingen, with brass mounted leather scabbard, two similar with black mounts and scabbard one with black blade probably British and a Spanish bayonet in similar style marked Artilleqia Nacional Toledo, with metal mounted leather scabbard. A French Canadian knife bayonet with leather scabbard marked Ross Rifle Company Quebec an all metal bayonet with hollow metal socket handle and two others. (5).
A GERMAN THIRD REICH POLICEMANS DAGGER, having nickel plated eagle head pommel with horn scales and inset winged eagle over swastika device, oak leaf relief decorated cross piece, and nickel plate mounted leather scabbard. The blade marked E & F Horste, Solingen and the hilt crosspiece stamped S.D. VI. 373. Similar numbers to scabbard mount. 19" Long overall.
An 1885 Pattern Cavalry Sword, blade length 87cms approx. and marked "Solingen" together with various view marks, dates and "YC" for Yeoman Cavalry, complete with scabbard marked Y over WST (West Somerset Yeomanry). ++the scabbard and bowl appear to have been painted black, some staining to blade otherwise good condition for age
THE MEDALS AND EFFECTS OF MAJOR W.J.R. HEPPELL RE serving with No.4 Commando April 1944 - November 1945. Medals:- Court mounted 1939-45 Star, France/Germany Star, Defence Medal, 1939-45 War Medal (with oak leaf), Territorial Efficiency Decoration George VI with ER clasp dated 1951. Together with set of miniatures. Royal Engineers cap badges, collar badges, boxed Normandy and Dunkirk medal, French Veterans 1944 medal etc. His fighting knife, believed to be No.3 pattern, blued overall, no marks except "No.1" cast in pommel, blade 17.5cms approx. overall 29.5cms in length, good condition, together with leather sheath, elastic missing from top and some service wear. Six officer`s Commando buttons by Pitt & Co, London. Commando Service Certificate signed by Chief of Combined Operations 1945. Large cloth badge and framed certificate for mention in despatches 9/8/45. His Dress Sword 1897 Infantry Officers pattern with George VI cypher, original leather covered scabbard and frog (some staining and service wear). Military issue Compass (arrow stamped). Leather Swagger Stick, unscrews with plumb line. Customs of the Service booklet. Commission as Second Lt Territorial Army 18/9/39. Quantity of service photographs, wall plaques, 1940 newspapers, box of buttons, ribbands etc. NB: Major W J R Heppell was commissioned Second Lieutenant Territorial Army in 1939, serving with the Royal Engineers at Dunkirk 1940. Transferred to No.4 Commando 20/4/44 - 22/11/45. Present at Normandy and mentioned in despatches 1/8/45. An unusual Georgian Officer`s Midshipmans Dirk having curved blade, approx. 41cms, which is half blued with crown, GR, sunbursts etc in gilt. The hilt supports a half circular guard showing anchor and Britannia (?) device, grip is of ivory with a gilt brass lion head pommel and back strap, complete with black leather scabbard and gilt mounts. ++hilt has small piece of ivory missing, ornamental end of quillon on one side missing, no chain. Blade dirty but in very good order, guard has been buckled (but repairable) scabbard is in good condition for age with service wear to gilding and leather
A rare blued and gilt naval officer`s Chief Captain`s Prize presentation dirk, August 1904, 45cm blade by J.R. GAUNT & SONS, blued and gilt for three-quarters of its length, with etched central presentation panel, regulation brass hilt with reversed quillons with acorn finials, lion`s head pommel, wire bound fishskin grip, contained in its engraved brass mounted black leather scabbard. Externally aged and blade with staining and rust patches.

Worn.

An 1897 Pattern Infantry Officer`s sword to the Lincolnshire Regiment, 81.5cm blade etched with scrolling foliage, crowned GVR Cyphers and C.B.SIPPE LINCOLNSHIRE REGIMENT APRIL 29. 1915, regulation pierced steel hilt incorporating Royal Cypher, wire bound fishskin grip, contained in its field service scabbard.

Some wear to scabbard, Reilly operated from 502 Oxford Street between 1848 and 1855.

Indian Staff Corps 1894, Capt 1901), regulation triple bar hilt incorporating crowned VR cypher, wirebound crocodile skin grip, in its plated scabbard. Basically GC (hilt plated, some wear and rust patches overall)
