A Victorian 1821 Pattern Heavy Cavalry Officer`s Sword, by Henry Wilkinson of Pall Mall, serial number 30996 (1891), straight single edged spear point blade 84.5cm long, finely etched, 2nd Regiment Central India Horse, Royal Artillery with thunderbolt, lightning and wings, VR, crowned royal arms, and family heraldic device, regulation "honeysuckle` plated hilt, wire-bound fish skin grip, in its plated scabbard The Central India Horse, the Regiment was founded as two irregular Cavalry Regiments in 1857, at the outset of the Indian Rebellion, the first were known as Mayne`s Horse, the second as Beatson`s Horse after their Commanding Officers, they were both billeted at the town of Guna, in the state of Gwaliorand Augar in central India.
