A German WWI era sword, the blade signed E Eickhorn Solingen, with a scabbard Condition report Report by GHScabbard very slightly kinked, only really visible when you look straight down the edge. No visible dents to scabbard. Tip of blade very slightly off set. Very slight movement in handle. Wires appear to be intact, but some slightly out of shape. Blade generally very clean with no signs of any pitting. Some tarnish to the metal on the handle. Blade length is 88 cm. Total length of sword 101 cm and length of scabbard 93 cm.

A WWII period German Kriegsmarine dagger with metal scabbard, pommel and hangers, with WKC Solingen blade measuring 25.5cm.The dagger was brought to the United Kingdom by Army Air Corps Lieutenant John (Jack) Edward Helingoe, who was a prisoner of war kept for seven months in the Jakob-Grimm School in Rotenburg, Germany, from October 1944 to April 1945.Sold with copies of related letters and pages of book on the Battle of Arnhem, in which he was mentioned.

General wear throughout. split and poor solder repair to top brass mount further splits and dents, stamped '0011' and '811', leather distressed.

CONDITION REPORT: Please note that the scabbard leather is distressed, not firm and undamaged. No visible maker's marks or details; join between lion head and base and handle is broken, handle loose, gap between handle edges and mother of pearl section, one section of mother of pearl loose, back of scabbard split in one area, extensively, distressed blade with scratches and nicks, top probably replaced, reground.
