3x Assorted 19th Century African Tribal Knives, the first Salampasu (head hunters) with swollen shaped blade of conventional form, carved wooden hilt with fluted pommel and bobbin carved grip; a Yaka tribal knife with slightly swollen blade cut with narrow fullers, skin covered grip and scabbard, the former with cage-work pommel and cylindrical iron finial; another Yaka tribal knife with conventional blade and skin covered hilt with brass studs, cage-work pommel and tall iron finial; and the iron shoe from a Masai lion spear. Average good condition.

Blade 78 ¾ cms. Good untouched condition with some age wear.

Rare Battle of Waterloo Period P.1796 Heavy Cavalry Trooper’s Sword Issued to the 6th Inniskilling Dragoons, famous for their ‘Scotland For Ever’ charge at that battle alongside the Royal Scots Greys as part of the Union Brigade, good to very good condition 86cms pointed blade. Standard pattern hilt, one side ‘shaved off’ to prevent rubbing on the tunic, slight wear to the grip. Steel scabbard stamped on the front ‘6 a 24’, probably for ‘6th Dragoons “A” Troop Weapon No.42. Throat retaining screws missing. Excellent patina overall.

Netherlands Model 1852 Grenadiers Officers Sword by Carl Eickhorn, fine example having gilt crossguard with silvered flaming grenade to central diamond cartouche, acorn finial, guard with silvered crowned “W” cipher to the centre, leading to lion head pommel. Grip retains the original wire binding. Housed in its plated scabbard with single hanging ring. Slightly curved blade with fuller to back edge. Blade engraved with scroll having “YZERHOUWER” to centre, back edge engraved “REGIMENT GRENADIERS”, Carl Eickhorn makers trademark to base. Blade measures 85 cms, overall 101cms.

AN EARLY 19TH CENTURY SPANISH CAVALRY SABRE OF THE ROYAL GUARD (?), 80cm sharply curved blade decorated along half of its length with scrolling foliage, stands of arms and laurel wreaths, all highlighted in gilt on a blued ground, white metal three-bar hilt inset with a partial solid guard, this engraved with the initials CV within a shield, surmounted by a crown and flanked by lion, the remainder of the hilt engraved and chiselled with stylised laurel leaves, the back strap further engraved with a pair of initials BV within an escutcheon, wire bound grip, contained in its white metal scabbard decorated to match and with leather inserts.

A LATE 18TH OR EARLY 19TH CENTURY PRESENTATION QUALITY SABRE BY PROSSER, 83cm sharply curved pipe-backed blade with clipped back spear point, etched with damascus style swirls and stylized calligraphy in the talismanic manner with traces of gilt highlights, copper gilt hilt, the langets cast and chased with the head of Medusa, dog's head quillons, tapering rope twist form copper gilt pommel, spirally fluted rhinoceros horn grip, contained in its copper gilt mounted scabbard decorated to match, the upper mount with maker's panel for Prosser. The crest is that of the Scottish Family Fullerton - a member of that family served with the Warwickshire Regiment, The Royal Irish Lancers and the 13th Hussars - Grey D'Estoteville Herbert Fullerton - although the initials do not correspond.

A VICTORIAN ROYAL ARTILLERY OFFICER'S 1821 PATTERN SWORD, 90cm blade by MOLE & SONS, etched with scrolling foliage, crowned VR cypher and regimental devices, regulation steel three-bar hilt, wire bound fishskin grip. Note the quality of the etching is higher than usual and the rayskin has not been polished smooth, remaining chunky, no scabbard.
