LEHMANN REGENCY HOUSE ALDERSHOT, regulation copper gilt hilt with riveted two-piece ivory grips, contained in its plated steel scabbard, some lifting, complete with knot and bag. RASPIN IN APPRECIATION OF HIS SERVICES AS A SPECIAL CONSTABLE DURING THE GREAT WAR 1914-19, characteristic brass hilt decorated with vines and foliage, dished disc pommel with starburst dome finial, scrolling knuckle guard, contained in its leather wrapped wooden scabbard.

Circa 1740. Scarce to find a Dublin marked example.

While the hilt resembles that of mid 18th Century English hangers, the width of the blade would suggest that this is more probably adapted for use by a privateer.

87.5cm service sharpened blade with modified spear point stamped with an inspector's mark, regulation steel hilt, the knuckle guard engraved RD, E32, inner langet removed, ribbed leather covered grip, contained in its steel scabbard, dented, stamped Woolley Deakin Dutton & Johnson. The Royal Dragoons served in the Peninsular and in the famous Union Charge at Waterloo. The modification to the blade conforms to the order given to the troopers on the eve of Waterloo.

David Gilkinson of the ship Hope from the Underwriters of the Brig Fame for his exertions in saving goods from the wreck of that vessel on 28 Feb 1805", wire bound ribbed ivory grip contained in its linear engraved copper mounted leather covered wooden scabbard. On the 27th February 1805 the Fame was driven ashore and wrecked in the Clyde. She was on a voyage from Greenock, Renfrewshire, to Trinidad. Ivory Declaration Submission Reference 9DNU1CDQ.

The hilt probably contains Rhinoceros horn and therefore any prospective purchaser must comply with CITES regulations regarding export.
