GC (very small rust patch on blade, scabbard paint worn)
A 1796 pattern infantry officer’s sword, fullered blade, 31½”, etched with 1801-16 R Arms and supporters, crowned GR cypher, trophies and maker’s name Dunderdale & Mabson in scrolled wreath, regulation hilt with double shell guard, the inner shell turning down and engraved in script “TS/ODV”, facetted knucklebow and urn shaped pommel, simulated copper wirebound grip, in its leather scabbard (AF), with gilt chape and locket. Basically GC, the sword retaining a little gilt to hilt and blueing and gilding to blade (some light pitting patches especially to lower part of blade). Plate 9

An early 19th century continental cavalry officer’s sword, curved, shallow fullered blade 34½”, with back fuller, iron hilt with slotted guard and unusually long quillon, flat knucklebow with sideloop on each side, plain iron pommel cap, ribbed ebony grip, in its iron mounted leather (worn) scabbard with 2 rings. GC (2 or 3 edge nicks and rust stains to blade, dark rust patina to hilt and scabbard mounts).
A presentation 1803 pattern light company infantry officer’s sword, broad curved fullered blade 30”, engraved “Woolley & Deakins Impressed Steel” on the backstrap, etched with crowned GR cypher, crowned 1801-16 R Arms, standing officer wearing Tarleton helmet, trophies, maker’s name and scroll “Warranted”, gilt hilt, the slotted guard with 3 loops on each side into crowned GR cypher and fluted knucklebow, lion’s head pommel and backstrap engraved “J H Toyne Esq AD 1848”, wirebound leather grip, in its brass (retaining traces of gilt) mounted leather scabbard with 2 rings, the locket engraved “Lieutenant Charles Parker to J H Toyne Esq AD 1848”; with photostat details, GC, the blade retaining much original gilding and a little blueing, the hilt approx 15% gilt (guard a little mis-shapen). GC (pitting stains to blade, some service wear)
