B.ia', a few pitting; brass hilt with three loop-guards and sheath-guard wings; leather-covered grip. Iron scabbard (areas with rust damage) with two suspension rings. length 102 cm.

dating: Second half of the 19th Century provenance: Italy, Curved blade with typical fuller doubling at the weak, engraved with racemes and trophies at the forte, and with the signature of a Solingen manufactory; the same wording also at the tang but as a stamp: 'Wester & Co. Solingen.' Hilt with fine quillon provided with iron, stirrup guard, carved with floral motifs and with monogram 'MRS' in-relief on granulated background. Cap richly carved and engraved with floral motifs. Ebony handle with checkered sectors (a missing part at the base of the guard). Leather sword knot. Iron scabbard with two lugs and leather clutches with pendant shaped as the Savoy eagle, worked in relief. length 99,5 cm.

dating: Early 19th Century provenance: Italy, Curved, single-and-false-edged blade, wide fuller, with remains of bluing at the forte(about 60%, some slight pitting and scaling) and engravings with various effigies such as the anthropomorphic sun, small trophies, racemes, and also an effigy of a hussar surmounted by a cartouche with cabalistic inscriptions. Provided with iron stirrup guard, long, smooth cap cusped on one side, grip with probably antique leather covering bearing copper wire binding. Without scabbard. Provenance: probably Italic Kingdom or Cisalpine Republic. length 94 cm.

dating: first quarter of the 20th Century provenance: Kingdom of Italy, Curved blade similar to the one of Mod. 1855 with fuller doubling toward the weak, in the first half featuring engraved racemes, trophies, and Savoy's emblems. On the back engraved with laurel branches. Hilt with main guard provided with six thin loop-guards and featuring a brass eagle on the back, crowned and surmounting a cartouche with motto 'albis ardua' (Lancers of Novara). Partially checkered cap. Smooth ebony grip. With heavily worn leather sword knot. Iron scabbard with two lugs. During World War I, the Novara lancers fought in the famous battles of Pozzuolo del Friuli and of Vittorio Veneto. length 94,5 cm.

dating: Late 19th Century provenance: Kingdom of Italy, Slightly-curved, single-and false-edged blade with cylindrical back, richly engraved on half-length on both sides. With the crowned German eagle surrounded by trophies and racemes on the right side, and the effigy of a hussar on horseback on the left side. With stamp 'Z' within a crowned shield at the tang, on one side. Remains of nickel plating. Iron hilt with remains of nickel plating, guard with four loop-guards, marked 'UNIONE MILITARE TORINO' and with numbers. Smooth ebony hilt, long checkered iron cap. Two sword knots, one made of blue and gilt cloth and one of leather. Iron scabbard with signs of use and time, light pitting and a strike, with remains of nickel plating, two lugs and leather clutches. length 101,5 cm.

dating: 1914 provenance: Kingdom of Italy, Straight, double-edged blade with thin, central groove and areas damaged by rust. Engraved and gilded up to the center on blue background with the Savoy eagle, the Savoy coat of arms, trophies and floral motifs. Tang with the dedication 'I CORPI VOLONTARI ITALIANI PIETRO FRVGONI GENERALE COMAN.TE D'ARMATA 1914'. On the other side the manufacturer 'F. W. THEEGARTEN SOLINGEN'. Beautiful silver grip, center of crossguard with Savoy eagle (red and white enameled Savoy cross) above a toothed wheel and green enameled monogram 'VCA', quillons decorated with laurel and oak branches, the back with two escutcheons under crown, the left one with 'S.P.Q.R' inscription, the other one with enameled Savoy cross. Grip depicting a naked man with a hand on his chest and the other one resting on a sword. Small damages. Without scabbard. Pietro Paolo Frugoni (1851 - 1940) was an Italian general, he participated in the Italian-Turkish War and the First World War, in particular in the Battle of Zanzur and the four battles of the Isonzo including the Strafexpedition. In 1915 he was appointed commander of the 2nd Army and later took over as commander of the 5th Army.A fine gift from the Italian 'Corpo nazionale volontari ciclisti automobilisti' (National Corps of Volunteer Cyclists and Motorists), which was a civilian organisation under the supervision of the Ministry of War, established to contribute to homeland defence by preparing cycling and automotive forces. It was established in 1908 and disbanded in 1915. length 106.8 cm.

Faceted hilt. All finely engraved with floral motifs. Silver scabbard engraved en suite, cap with four suspension rings. dating: 1910 - 1920 provenance: Ceylon, Flat and thin silver blade. Solid silver hilt with langets between two small arches ending in a dragon's head. Quillons decorated en suite, curved guard ending in a dragon's head. Large pommel shaped as a dragon's head with open jaws and tongue. Light blue, faceted hilt (one facet missing), finely pierced. All finely engraved with floral and geometric motifs. Silver scabbard engraved and richly pierced with floral motifs. Smooth cap with four suspension rings and borders with intertwined decorations. Chape with a dragon's head (rare). Hilt and scabbard decorated with many semi-precious stones (missing parts) especially pink, some white; a large, a dark red stone on the guard and two large smoke-grey and yellow stones on the dragon's head on the chape of the scabbard. Such a fine and rare kastane has not been seen on the world market for a long time. See a very similar item at the Hermitage Museum, illustrated in Obrtztsov (2015, page 124). length 46 cm.
