A Bornean sword (mandau or parang), heavy single edged blade 22in. with panels of incised decoration and inlaid brass bands along the back, the back flat for the first 14 1/4in. giving way to a scalloped section terminating in a curlicue and then to three shallow stepped sections, further curlicues to the front edge near the hilt, forked wooden grip with well carved decoration, lacks scabbard.
An East African sword, slightly curved blade 28in. with incised geometric decoration, hide covered hilt of flamboyant cruciform type, with stepped moulded decoration and a triangular pommel forming the hilt of a concealed dagger, moulded hide scabbard ensuite to the hilt and with four small knives in pockets along its length.
An SA dagger, blade marked for Neptun of Solingen, regulation grip and brown finished steel scabbard, mounted on a board with a small collection of Third Reich items including a H.J. belt buckle, and a Great War Iron Cross 2nd class. German Third Reich Luftwaffe 2nd pattern Officer’s dagger by F.W. Hšller, Solingen An example with white ivorine grip and twist wire binding, the plain blade bearing thermometer logo; the aluminium crossguard and langet bearing an eagle (swastika absent); the pommel ornamented with swastika and oakleaves. Housed in its metal scabbard fitted with two suspension rings. Some light staining to blade whose tip is bent. overall service wear and slight oxidisation to pommel. Some light rusting to scabbard. Introduced in July 1937.
WW1 Period George V British Infantry Officer’s Sword. A good example with etched decoration to the blade and retailers details of Hawkes & Co Ltd to the forte. The hilt with shagreen grip and to the guard a crowned GVR cypher. Housed in polished brown leather field service scabbard. Overall GC sword has be plated during its working life and is now with some wear.
Victorian 1822 Pattern Infantry Officer’s Sword A good example, with superb slightly curved, fullered blade by Linney, London, very finely etched with foliate decoration and VR cypher. Comparatively small brass (originally gilt) “Gothic” guard with folding flap incorporating VR cypher, wire-bound shagreen grip, housed in its steel scabbard. Guard rubbed and slightly distorted, otherwise GC. The steel scabbard suggests that this weapon was carried by an adjutant.

Plated guard with George V cypher, wire-bound shagreen grip and brown leather sword-knot. Housed in the correct polished brown leather narrow scabbard. GC.
British Army 1847 Infantry Pattern Victorian Officer’s sword. A good example retailed through Maynard & Harris of London. Single edged unfullered, slightly curved blade decorated with a VR entwined cypher surmounted by Crown. Gilt metal hilt with crowned VR cypher, shagreen grip and copper twist wire binding. Housed in steel scabbard fitted with two loose rings. Etching remains clear. Gilt worn to base metal some service wear GC.
Victorian General Officer’s 1831 pattern Mameluke hilted sword A good example by Robert Mole & Sons Birmingham. The blade is etched with Crowned VR Cypher, General Officer’s device and floral decoration. Gilt cross guard with floral decoration with General Officer’s device to the centre. Two piece Ivorine grips with two floral head gilt studs (one absent). Housed in a brass scabbard, fitted with two loose rings. The etching to the blade is clear and clean. Overall GC ... Accompanied by gold bullion and crimson silk lined sword knot.
William IV Coldstream Guards Officer’s Sword. A scarce regimental example of the 1822 pattern Officer’s Sword. The narrow single edged piped back blade with an etched panel depicting the Regimental Garter Star and a WIVR entwined crowned cypher. The hilt of regulation pattern, the guard incorporating a Crowned WIVR cypher, the shagreen grip with twist wire binding. Housed in brass scabbard. The etching to the blade is clean and clear. The sword has been professionally restored to a high standard, the guard regilded. GC.
Victorian Coldstream Guards Officer’s Levee Sword. A scarce regimental example of the 1822 pattern Officer’s Levee Sword. The narrow single edged blade with an etched panel depicting the Regimental Garter Star and a VR entwined crowned cypher. The hilt of regulation pattern, the guard incorporating a Crowned VR cypher, the shagreen grip with twist wire binding. Housed in correct pattern narrow steel scabbard. The overall condition is good, however the blade edge with a number of badge edge knocks. GC.
Victorian Coldstream Guards Levee Pattern Officer’s Sword by Wilkinson. A good and scarce regimental pattern. The blade etched with a Crowned VR cypher and bears Regimental Battle Honours the last being for the Crimea. To the forte cutlers details of Wilkinson and to the back of the blade the number 17356 (1871). The hilt with steel guard incorporating the Garter, the grip with shagreen cover and twist wire binding. Housed in correct narrow plated scabbard. GC etching clear clean condition.
Mid 19th Century Coldstream Guards Bandsman Sword. An unusual regimental pattern by Mayer & Mortimer of London. Straight plain double edged blade (28 inches) with cutler’s details to the forte. The hilt constructed of solid brass to the centre of the cross guard a Regimental device of the Garter Star. Housed in original leather and brass mounted scabbard, the top mount with frog button. GC.
Coldstream Guards Superior Quality Drummer Boys Sword. A very good example of a George VI period sword. The straight double edged 13 inch blade with etched decoration of a Crowned GVIR Cypher, Garter Star and Battle Honours of the Regiment the last being for the Great War. The grass hilt with a GVIR cypher and the grip is plain. Housed in original leather and brass mounted scabbard. Overall near VGC, top mount to the scabbard loose ... Accompanied by a Coldstream Guards Officer’s silver mounted swagger stick. This now in poor condition. (2 items)
Royal Navy Midshipman`s dirk. A George V example carried by A.C. Gibbs The blade is etched with a crowned foul anchor and a crowned GVR cypher. The shagreen grip is with wire binding and surmounted by a lion’s head pommel. Housed in original black leather scabbard with gilt metal mounts and two loose rings. The top mount is engraved “A. C. Gibbs” . Gilt worn and blade with staining and some surface pitting. In 1946 Sub Lt A.C. Gibbs is shown as serving with the Fleet Air Arm at RNAS Gosport.

Large steel bowl guard with reinforced back section. Elongated double leather chequered grip secured by three rivets. The guard with regimental various issue and cancelation stamps. Housed in steel scabbard with two fixed rings. Overall GC minor age wear.
Victorian Infantry Officer’s Levee Sword of 1845 Pattern A good example of a levŽe weight sword by Jones, 6 Regent’ St, slightly curved blade bearing foliate decoration and VR cypher. Post-1855 delicate brass (originally gilt) one-piece guard, with VR cypher in cartouche, and wire-bound shagreen grip. Crimson and gold lace sword-knot. Housed in its brass scabbard. GC.
Georgian Infantry Officer’s Sword of 1822 Pattern An interesting George IV period example, with unusually curved pipe-back blade bearing panels with traces of the Royal Cypher. Brass guard with hinged flap, retaining traces of gilding, with GR cypher in cartouche. Wire-bound shagreen grip. Guard slightly distorted, some pitting to blade scabbard now absent.
Edward VII British Infantry Officer’s 1897 Pattern Sword. A good regulation example with fine blade by John Jones, 6 Regent St, (No.2388), bearing EVIIR cypher and Royal Arms. Plated steel guard with Royal Cypher, wire-bound shagreen grip and gold lace sword-knot, housed in its plated steel scabbard. Some rust spots to scabbard.
Victorian British Cavalry Trooper’s 1885 Pattern Sword A good example with regulation slightly curved fullered blade bearing various stamps including “?YC” and “2/86”, sheet steel Maltese Cross guard with lapped edges, chequered leather grip with triangular hand-stop at top. Housed in its steel scabbard with a fixed ring on each side at top. Minor spotting to blade.
1900 Pattern Royal Navy Boarding Cutlass A rare example, with straight fullered 28-inch blade with stamped “00” on back edge, and “EFD” and “01” on the forte. Polished sheet-steel guard with lapped edges,stamped with “N”, broad arrow, “EFD” and various numbers. Chequered leather grip with hand-stop. Housed in its black leather scabbard with steel mounts and frog-stud to locket. Some spotting to blade. Clean bright condition.
Honourable Artillery Company Victorian Regimental Pattern Sword A rare example of the pattern worn by non-commissioned ranks, with straight blade of flattened hexagonal cross-section, bearing foliate decoration and HAC initials, badge and motto, brass (originally gilt) hilt with knucklebow guard and shell, the latter mounted with a grenade in white metal, wire-bound shagreen grip. Housed in a black leather scabbard with gilt brass mounts. Some rust patches to blade, scabbard slightly shrunk and with some dents to locket and chape. Little gilding remaining to brass elements.
Royal Scots Fusiliers Officer’s Early Victorian Sword A very rare example, with pipe-backed blade, now seized in its brass-mounted leather scabbard. The hilt with the unique pattern brass “Gothic” guard worn by the 21st Foot until 1881, with a thistle spray, regimental title and motto in lieu of the Royal Cypher, langet bearing a grenade and wire-bound shagreen grip with embossed thistles on backstrap (see Robson Fig 142). Guard of sword slightly distorted and with left-hand bar skilfully removed to facilitate wear in a frog. Shagreen partly defective. Chape of scabbard dented, leather crazed and frog-stud removed when adapted for wear on slings. Viewing Recommended.

Northumberland Fusiliers Victorian Regimental Pattern Officer’s Sword by Wilkinson of London. A rare example, with “dumbbell” blade by H Wilkinson (No. 38364 denoting manufacture in 1900) bearing foliate decoration, VR cypher and Royal Arms, Prince of Wales’s plumes and initials “WG”. Regulation 1897 Pattern guard with appliquŽ grenade bearing St George on the ball. Wire-bound shagreen grip and plaited brown leather sword-knot. Housed in its brown pigskin scabbard with plated steel mouthpiece and chape. Traces of rust and pitting to blade, plating of guard slightly defective. Minor wear to shagreen of grip. Frog-tab of scabbard absent. Complete with original brown leather storage bag. The initials WG on the blade, which also appear on the brown leather outer cover, are probably those of William Gibson, who transferred from the Militia to the Northumberland Fusiliers in 1900.
Royal Engineers Attributed Victorian Officer’s Sword and Court Sword Mounted into a Period Display Case. A magnificent example of the 1857 Pattern by Henry Wilkinson, with extremely fine slightly curved fullered blade (No.5280, indicating 1854) bearing foliate decoration, VR cypher, Thunderbolt and crest and motto of the Grant family. Hilt with gilt-brass scroll pattern guard, black shagreen grip with gilt wire binding, and chequered pommel. Housed in its gilt-brass scabbard with white metal shoe ... Together with a Civil Uniform sword with regulation cast beaded metal hilt, the point of the blade now seized in the chape of its black leather scabbard ... and a Staff Officer’s gold and red flecked aiguillette. All mounted into a 19th Century glazed mahogany wall hanging display cabinet with hinged lid. (3 items) This sword is almost certainly that of Lieutenant (later Lieutenant General Sir) Robert Grant, who was educated at Harrow and RMA Woolwich before being commissioned into the Royal Engineers in 1854. He held a number of appointments, including that of Chief Engineer in the 1885 Sudan Expedition, becoming Inspector General of Fortifications in 1891. The relative dates of the blade and hilt of this sword indicate that Grant must have had the weapon re-hilted in or after 1857 to conform to the new pattern of hilt.
Victorian 1845 Pattern Sword, believed to be Warwickshire Militia. An unusual example, possibly carried by a Senior NCO. Broadly based on the British 1845 Infantry officer’s pattern, with plain slightly curved fullered blade, of German manufacture, bearing stamped scales trademark at the forte. The hilt with “Gothic” style guard, with decorative brass scrolling in place of the normal VR cypher cartouche. Wire-bound shagreen grip. Housed in its metal scabbard. Traces of rust to blade. Mr Harvey Withers in his book “British Military Swords” shows (page 131) a similar hilted Officer’s Sword, attributed to a Warwickshire Militia Volunteer unit.
Crimean War Period British Infantry Officer’s 1822 Pattern Sword. This example with slightly curved piped back blade with etched panel of a Crown VR cypher. Retailers details of James Holbeck of London to the forte. Complete with regulation hilt with open brass guard, this incorporating a Crowned VR cypher. The shagreen grip with twist wire binding and the inside of the guard retains original black patent leather liner. Housed in black leather and gilt mounted scabbard. The scabbard with the earlier feature of having a frog button to the top mount only. GC minor wear, damage to the folding guard of the hilt.
19th Century Chinese Sword. A good example with a 18 1/2 inch slightly curved plain blade with double fuller to the back edge. The hilt with circular brass guard with floral decoration and similar deep engraved decoration to the pommel. The shagreen grip with flat brass metal binding. Housed in wood and shagreen covered scabbard, this with brass mounts, these again with floral engraved decoration. GC.

British 2nd Pattern B2 Marked Commando FS Knife An example with plain double edged blade. Blued steel oval crossguard stamped “B2” with broad arrow. Brass checkered grip with steel top nut. Housed in its leather scabbard with blackened copper chape. Blade with light pitting, sharpened and cleaned; securing elastic AF.
19th Century Piha-Kaetta Sinhalese Silver Mounted Knife A good quality small example, the thin curved single edged blade, with a small amount of gilt floral decoration. The hilt with dark hardwood decoration and plain silver mount. Housed in original scabbard, this with silver sheet decoration embossed with floral designs. Overall GC clean condition.
