Lot 35

WW2 German boot knife by Puma with clip back steel scabbard. Features contoured bakelite grip scales, retained by three pins, grips have no cracks or chips and are in good period condition. The hilt has a small oval cross guard and the blade is stamped on the ricasso with the maker PUMA of SOLINGEN. Blade is very good and factory sharpened trench knife style, with a 14.3cm drop-point dagger blade and an overall length of 25 cm. The metal scabbard is factory black with minor loss, rear spring clip in good condition. The knife itself is in excellent used condition.

1862 pattern U.S. Civil War era cavalry officer’s sword and scabbard stamped Ames Mfg. Co. Cavalry Officers Sword blade. Brass 3 bar hilt that is serial number 11743, intact brown leather and wire twist grip. Single fullered unsharpened blade measures 88cm long with manufacture stamps to ricasso U.S. ADK 1862. Scabbard has minor surface rust and 2 dents, drag stamped ADK. Overall measures 108cm.

WW2 German Hitler Youth knife with motto and scabbard by Tiger. Hilt nickel/silver plated with minor ‘hammering’ dents to surface. Solid black Bakelite grips has an imbedded enamelled HJ swastika logo diamond with light period age wear. 14 cm long blade, acid etched motto, “Blut und Ehre!”, (Blood and Honor). Maker marked TIGER Solingen. Magnetic sheet metal scabbard with remnants of original black coating, leather hanger is still supple and locks firmly onto hilt.

Bakelite grips, good amount of blue finish (60%) to metal work, with 25cm blade, dated 41 and maker marked for E F Horster (41 asw) 5600u. Sharp blade edge and slightly shaped spear point. Retains scabbard and black leather frog. Matching numbered example. Measures 40.2cm long.

1856 pattern British Yataghan bayonet and scabbard made under German Kirschbaum contract. Features solid leather hatched grip in good period condition, affixed solidly, spring steel bayonet lock missing locking button, steel guard with twin curved guard quillon and muzzle ring. Yataghan pattern single fullered 56cm blade with period edge nicks and minor steel age patina, end looks to have been reshaped, German Kirshbaum manufacture stamp to blade ricasso. Scabbard leather with surface wear, most stitching missing, bottom mount pin gone. Measures 69.5cm long.

Iconic USMC Fighting knife features black composite handle, nicely tooled 11.4cm wide brass cross guard. 24.3cm blade is stamped 'Kinfolks INC.' has machine d straight fullers, factory sharpened main edge and unsharpened false back edge, age staining to blade surface. Brown original scabbard with intact stitching and rivets has minor damage to small front section. Excellent Marine fighting knife.

1950’s era IXL Bowie knife and scabbard with gilt silver engraving to c19th blade. Features coffin handle with stag grip scales secured by pins. German silver name plate with a 7mm thick by 9cm wide silver cross guard. 24cm clip point Bowie blade with 11cm false edge, 4.8cm wide tapering to point. Reverse ricasso has pitting, marked in four lines: G. WOSTENHOLM and SON / WASHINGTON WORKS / NONE ARE GENUINE BUT THOSE / MARKED IXL. Also featured on blade below ridge line G. WOSTENHOLM & SON / WASHINGTON WORKS with an American Eagle followed by I*XL and a banner that reads THE REAL 17 I*XL KNIFE. Etched with a pair of gold gilt panels that depict bust images of General Garibaldi and Victor Emmanuel, with their names above and below the images. Reverse side has shallow pitting and age storage darkening, blade edge factory sharpened. Scabbard has German silver mounts with embossed gold gilt boarder and the makers I*XL logo. These knives were assembled in the 20th century using a stock of 19th century blades. Overall measures 38cm.

WW2 type 98 Japanese Army officer’s sword and scabbard in formal and field fittings with pre-war family blade. Features standard officer’s type 98 hilt, protected by original army leather field cover and leather fuchi cover with missing locking strap. Rusted tang to blade, most likely an older type blade, measuring 77cm tang to point, 86cm pommel to point. Field sharpened and carries a fair cutting edge with thumb nail nicks also some minor pitting and age darkening to back edge. Wooden scabbard with damage typical of jungle field use, missing upper section to lock scabbard to sword, with interesting brass ashi. WW2 NCO knot being tied to suspension ring of scabbard. Measures 95cm.

Rare WW2 Australian parachutist machete bayonet and scabbard. Features well blued hilt conforming in all respects to a pattern 1907 Australian issue piece. Slazenger manufacturer's marks to the wood scales stamped SLAZ 43 broad arrow stamped with working mortise button. 28.5cm heavy bolo-style machete blade, with sharpened edge & back blade, false edged for the last 12cm, carries majority of factory blueing. Correct WW2 issue canvas and webbing scabbard with riveted tin reinforcement at throat and chape, normal storage age wear, marked R.M.B.ltd.1944. Both the bayonet and the rifle Lee Enfield No1 MKIII 'Intermediate' which it was paired with were only produced in small numbers. It is believed that only around 2000 bayonets were produced. The official designation for the bayonet was 'Bayonet Parachutist, ex machete 'I' type' and it was intended for Para troop and Commando use in jungle warfare against the Japanese. Measures 43.5cm long.hete bayonet & scabbard.

Features nickel urn shaped pommel & winged guard numbered 542 with rotating swastika panels, with dark blue brown leather grip. Excellent condition 17.5 cm long maker marked and numbered ‘164’ blade, retaining leather washer. Blade fits well into the nickel and Moroccan leather scabbard, showing light wear overall, retaining suspension ring & hanger, with slightly dented ball end. Good unit stamps to throat, including swastika eagle propeller. Scarce 1st type dagger. Scarce.

1930’s era type 98 Japanese Army officer’s sword and scabbard with distinctive hamon blade. Features standard officer’s type 98 hilt with silk wrap break to one small section and repair to locking clip. Custom 1930’s era 83cm long blade, being 93cm pommel to point. Beautiful water quenched hamon polish temper line to full edge, sharpened and carries a fair cutting edge, no marking to tang and this custom-made blade is slightly tight in the last few centimetres of sheathing into the military scabbard, which is in very good condition. A superb blade in WW2 fittings. Overall measures 99.5cm.

1796 pattern British Army light infantry officer’s sword and scabbard named to C.C. BAKKER. Wire strung grip solid with worn gilt wash hilt fittings, urn shaped pommel and D’ shaped hilt guard, partially folding half circle langet, folding lock not locking, guard with floral designs to underside and to end of quillon includes officer’s name etched to bottom. Single edged blade, etching visible but worn, blade straight, no visible makers marks. Leather scabbard with worn brass and gilded fittings, scabbard bottom metal mount taped on, with damage to upper leather mount. Overall measures 97cm.

1811 pattern British Army etched ‘blucher’ sword and scabbard. Wide bow guard with leather wrapped wooden grips in solid condition, with wire twist intact. Blade engraved with military regalia, including King George III Royal cypher, still visible though worn as are the majority of the blade etchings. With no visible makers name or marks. Blade measures 82cm with age patina to the surface and a number of thumbnail nicks to the blade edge, slight bend to length when viewed along blade spine. Scabbard very solid and a good fit to the blade & carries a number of unit markings looking to have still been in service as an artillery Sabre late 1800s (AM.XVI.4.66). Overall measures 100cm.

WW2 era US Utility tool set saw & Puma Knife with sheath, Pioneer Co. Interesting double saw by THE PIONEER CO. BOISE, IDAHO USA KNAPP SPORT SAW P.TNO.206.389 and stamped as such to the aluminium handle, double edged sawblade with little wear to teeth, some age discolouration and minor surface rust, length 33.5cm. PUMA knife, heavily reshaped and sharpened, age darkened, numbered 42607 to the guard which has a little movement. Nice 3 rivet deer horn grip solid, length 26cm. Double sheath in brown leather, some light wear, age staining to surface but still very serviceable scabbard.

Features a spectacular blade with lovely Damascus pattern Pamor pattern blade, very ornate Guru of entwined serpent detailing in gold and silver to the central blade body, upper blade very well detailed with cultural patterns highlighted in gold. 42cm Blade has 7 Luk or waves to length and an excellent keen blade edge. The throat ring is missing all but one blue gem stone, wooden hilt is traditionally made and the scabbard fits blade extremely well. Beautiful quality display piece for any collection. Total length in scabbard.

WW2 era German Army officers’ sword and scabbard by Robert Klaas. Features Gilt metal ‘P’ hilt, with eagle & swastika embossed guard, mounted onto a black elastoline wire wrapped grip. The 87cm long, slightly curved brushed steel blade shows maker mark for Robert Klaas of Solingen with kissing Cranes logo. Blade rates very fine with “live” blade that could be sharpened, this being far scarcer than standard nickel parade finish. Black paint factory finish with assorted chip and scratch loss along length exposing iron body, with scabbard retaining its single suspension loose ring hanger. Overall measures 96cm.

WWI 98/05 pattern German bayonet and scabbard by Alex Coppel of Solingen. 1918 dated bayonet features birds head pommel with imperial stamps, working mortise lock, upswept guard quillion, wooden grips, with flash guard. Single fullered butcher blade in good condition, period and age darkened surface with minor pitting to small sections, blade edge factory sharpened, with makers stamp to ricasso. Steel scabbard body with one dent to front, missing screw to front facing. Measures 52cm.

Features plated, nickel-pierced basket hilt, with minor plating loss, full leather inner guard, with red felt to upper portion, retaining red cotton plume to pommel. Fish skin & full wire wrap. 83 cm long straight double-edged blade, maker-marked with Wilkinson cypher and ‘BY APPOINTMENT TO HER MAGESTY QUEEN ELIZABETH II SWORD CUTLERS WILKINSON SWORD LTD MADE IN ENGLAND’, with manufacture number 19096 to spine. Unsharpened blade is the single fullered type and has age darkening to surface, good condition, retaining good etchings to both sides of blade, showing flora & thistles. The brown field scabbard shows only light wear. Generally, a good example. Overall measures 106 cm.

WW2 Era German SA/ NSKK 1933 2nd pattern dagger & scabbard by Carl Eickhorn. Features mid-brown wood grip, remains of lacquer, which fits the white-frosted cross guards correctly, retaining both eagle and roundel, both of which sit firmly in the grip. The very good condition RZM - M7/66 marked blade measures 22 cm, etched with motto “Alles für Deutschland” (All for Germany) very good in detail. Light age spots, otherwise light wear. Black enamel finish scabbard, retaining the leather hanger to suspension ring.

Features twisted silver wire hilt, brass gilt ornate handle fittings, with guard a little loose. Engraved & stamped straight blade with remnants of blueing and gilt work. Marked F. Runckel Solingen to blades spine, engraved with Royal cypher GR, and trophies of arms. Worn leather scabbard with brass mounts, with damage to scabbard leather body, being cracked through and period strapped. Throat locket engraved Goldneys, Late Neild of James Street Sword Cutler’s to his Royal Highness Prince of Wales. Overall measures 83cm.

Blade straight but worn, measures 55.2cm, no makers mark visible. Partial brass and leather scabbard remnants. Scarce bayonet. Measures 67.2 cm long.

C.1830 British Police constabulary etched short sword and scabbard. Brass ‘P’ shaped guard and ribbed topped pommel, very good fish skin grip. Leather washer fits well into the slightly curved 57cm long, thick cutlass blade, that shows minor age dark spots edge and has sharpening rasp marks. Acid etched ‘Wm PARKER Maker to His Majesty. HOLBORN LONDON’. Black leather scabbard has lost lower brass mount and has large leather patch to middle of both sides. Overall measures 72cm.

1909 pattern Argentine short sword bayonet and scabbard by WKC. Matching numbered German contract military machete. Wooden grips with curved pommel and S guard, showing inspection and serial numbers. Bright unsharpened Butcher blade, maker stamped with Argentine Government crest to the ricasso & original leather washer. Scabbard is rolled steel and nicely blued, with only minor scuffing to finish, with the issue numbers matching the blade. Measures 52.5cm.

WW2 German R.A.D. leaders’ hewer/dagger and scabbard with hanger by Wusthof. Features detailed hilt with eagle’s head pommel with 95% plate present and off-white grip plates. Cross guard arms that curl to a swirl at the quillons, plate loss and minor metal damage to right hand quillon. The guard obverse features a spade which is lined and has a superimposed swastika placed between two wheat shafts. The blade is a very fine matte finished example, being in near mint condition with only very minor age spotting. Motto “Arbeit adelt” is in crisp condition, reverse ricasso is etched with the Trident logo of ED WUSTHOF Solingen. The scabbard has a good crisp pebble pattern on both sides. The scabbard features the curl designs on the upper portion and below the curls are two touching wheat shafts. The lower chape portion duplicates the look with the touching wheat shafts. The throat is retained by two flatter head side screws. Completed with scarce double strap hanger. Total length 40cm.

ANKER - WERKE BIELEFELD maker stamp to ricasso, blade edge with sharpening wheel marks to blade facings with edge sharp. Scabbard shows period dents and some pitting. Good sawback bayonet by a scarce manufacturer. Measures 52cm.

German SA 1933 1st pattern dagger & scabbard by Ed Wusthof. Dark brown wood grip with eagle and SA roundel. Cross guards are correct nickel type with Oe’ (Osterreich) Gau regional stamp. Good condition blade is maker & trade marked ED. WUSTHOF SOLINGEN, measuring 22 cm and is etched with the motto “Alles für Deutschland” (All for Germany), being very good in detail. Fair condition scabbard, with anodised brown finish worn and light areas of surface corrosion, metal mounts has split to end drag, retaining hanger suspension ring.

1960’s era Australian issue 3rd pattern Fairbairn Sykes commando dagger and scabbard. Black enamel brass ribbed grip, maker marked for William Rodgers Sheffield. Retains large added brass ‘O’ ring. 16.5cm long plated double edge blade, shows use and remains of retailer’s stencil ‘SPEARMAN’ to one side. Custom made brown leather scabbard with leather tie. Purportedly issued to S.A.S.R. for use in Vietnam

German SA 1933 1st pattern dagger & scabbard by Ed Louper. Features dark brown wood grip with chip near right front guard, in correct nickel mounts with Gau “No” Nordsee regional stamp. Very worn/weathered condition blade is rare maker & trade marked LOUPER FLAMME SOLINGEN, which measures 21.8 cm and etched with the motto “Alles für Deutschland” (All for Germany), being good in detail. Black painted scabbard has surface corrosion, nickel furniture has dent to end drag, retaining hanger suspension ring with leather belt hanger. Very Rare #9 McSarr rarity scale, under 1000 produced, in worn condition.

WW2 Japanese wakizashi sword & scabbard with Norimitsu blade koto pre 1599 era. Blade and fittings as White ray skin hilt with thick gilt dragon menuki field wrapped with cotton cord, patterned fuchi with gold highlights, kashira pommel with gold “heart” and war fan, Iron “crab” tsuba guard and cloudy wave pattern habaki blade collar. Blade signed NORIMITSU, being late Koto pre 1599. Blade measures 57cm tang to point, 61cm pommel to point & carries a fair cutting edge with evidence of many years of polishing, with minor thumb nail nicks near point. Wooden lacquer scabbard with field use evident. Sword souvenired by owners Digger Father in Borneo WW2. Overall measures 99cm.

WW2 named Japanese officers’ sword Kanemoto Gendaito Katana in shirasaya mounts. Very fine blade with swordsmith signature Kanemoto, blade length from tip of kissaki to mune-machi tang end is 69.7cm. Very good hamon pattern and sharp cutting edge to blade length. Stored in solid shirasaya mounts, which carry the officers name, rank and unit, along with his address in Japan, present on the scabbard Saya.

WW1 1886 pattern French Lebel bayonet and scabbard. Mid WW1 era French Lebel bayonet with lock button R60999 stamped, button moves, but spring is slack. Full length 52cm cruciform blade which is in good condition. Steel scabbard with fixed belt bar is in good condition with no dents. The belt bar is stamped, metal has a period crack. Measures 65.5cm.

Vietnam War era bayonets (3). 2 US M3 bayonets by Imperial in good condition, one has slight movement to muzzle ring cross guard, good blades still well blued, M8A1 scabbards lock well. Soviet saw back AK 6x3 model survival bayonet, excellent blade, scabbard complete, slight shrinkage to leather locking strap. All good to very good condition bayonets.

1950’s era Fairbairn Sykes fighting knife by Venture HM Slater Sheffield, Hertfordshire Yeomanry dagger. 3rd pattern fighting knife, with blued 17.5cm double edged factory sharpened blade, the cross-guard stamped venture HM Slater, Sheffield, with ribbed cast grip, flat top brass pommel nut. Leather scabbard with good stitching and brass drag, upper elastic hilt retainer snapped as commonly happens. Leather tabs under webbing bayonet belt hanger that has a brass Hertfordshire Yeomanry badge to facing. Measures 32cm.

Lot of 1866 pattern French Chassepot Yataghan sword bayonets (2). Features solid brass ribbed hilt with working spring steel bayonet lock, steel guard with curved quillion, the muzzle ring numbered 8323 with inspection stamps. Yataghan pattern single fullered 58cm blade, with minor period edge nicks and dark steel age patina. Straight body scabbard, black paint with period loss, Japanese scabbard frog. Measures 71.5cm. 2nd bayonet is a converted 1866 Yataghan to long knife, with hard brown composite grip and brass plug etched imp du Mutzig armoury along spine, age patina and surface rust. Measures 70cm long.

WW2 Australian commando dagger stiletto knife by Wittingslowe WE. Cast zinc Mazak handle with slight upwards bent steel cross guard, brown resin near hilt and guard join. 18.3cm blade is Whittingslowe Engineering of Adelaide manufacturer WE stamped to ricasso with department of defence acceptance marks. Blade is solid stiletto pattern but shows age pitting to surface and slight bent near tip. Leather scabbard is correct WW2 issue with broad arrow stamp to back, metal and stitching complete, leather stiff and is in unworn condition, when compared to blade. Approx.500 made, they were issued in small numbers to Australian Special Operations ‘Z force’ and to all members of the 2/6 independent Company.

WW2 German Navy officer’s 2nd pattern dagger, scabbard, knot & hangers by Paul Weyersberg & Co. Solingen.  Features gilded brass fittings, twisted wire white grip and eagle pommel, small crack to wrap surface on grip reverse and normal age scuffing. Fouled anchor guard, retaining working locking button with silver knot with normal age wear. Maker marked 25.2 cm long blade, being finely double etched, with foliage, anchor and marine life design, showing toning to steel, with good edge and needle point. Gilded brass scabbard retains both suspension rings, with lightning bolt design, very good condition overall with one small dent. Naval Hangers with gilded lion faced buckles, wear to gilding and one of the 4 clasps is snapped. Black cotton and velvet straps in very good condition

WW1 1914 pattern Swiss Army pioneer 'Sawback' bayonet with scabbard. Features nickel steel fittings, showing birds head pommel, with working release catch, solid wooden grips muzzle ring, being arsenal stamped 52231. 48 cm long steel blade shows the ‘blood groove’ to the centre of each side of the blade, with a set of saw teeth to top spine and maker marked HS (Elsener Schwyz). Light wear & use to blade. Standard black finished metal scabbard. Measures 64cm.

German WW2 Police officer’s sword and scabbard by Hermann Rath of Solingen. Solid brown composite grip with wire wrap, brass Ordnungspolizei emblem is set flush and firmly in place. The 80 cm blade is in fair to good condition, straight with no bends, very minor plate loss and maker marked to HERM.RATH SOLINGEN. The scabbard retains most of its black finish, the nickel plate upper and lower fittings are in fair condition and firmly in place. The drag shows expected service wear and the main body of the scabbard is dent and damage free. Overall measures 96.5 cm.

WW2 US M3 fighting knife and scabbard by Utica. Features stacked leather grip in solid shape, flat hammer pommel, steel cross guard with correct down turned profile. 17cm spearpoint blade stamped with manufacturer make and model to surface, remnants of factory bluing. M8 scabbard has remains of dark field coating, webbing belt loop solid but shows edge fraying around joins and rivets, fits blade nicely.

1866 pattern French Chassepot bayonet and scabbard. Metal quillion and muzzle ring showing issue numbers manufacturer stamps F 11539. Single edged 57.5cm long curved blade in very good condition. The spine shows the polished/worn engraved (St. Ettienne) and date for 18.. Metal scabbard is in very good, sound condition, with some light/use wear. Measures 71 cm long.

Dagger profile blade with maker stamp and logo, unsharpened single edge and surface has only light age darkening. WW2 Australian machete Knife with scabbard dated 1945. Features a Bakelite ‘cross hatched’ riveted grips and wrist strap, mounted onto metal tang and wide face blade measuring 37cm long. Blade is the correct swollen type, being factory and field sharpened and dated 1945. Comes with its brass and canvas scabbard, material period and age stained, small hole to back edge, belt hanger has some thread fraying. Solid example, these are becoming very collectable pieces.

Rare maker marked WW2 Nazi German Army officer’s dagger, scabbard & knot by Paul Seilheimer. Aluminium pommel cap and cross guard excellent, dark orange coloured grip in good condition. Solingen maker named and stamped to 26cm long blade, in very good condition. Dagger knot shows expected wear and tear, but is complete. Scabbard is dent free and in good condition with minor surface corrosion. All-round a good condition and solid dagger by a not often seen army dagger manufacturer

WW2 German Hitler Youth Leader’s ‘Wacth’ KS98 parade bayonet, scabbard and knot. Features good condition stag grip bayonet, nickel plated birds head pommel with light ‘hammering’ dents, working bayonet locking button and guard, with inset Hitler Youth enamel diamond. Blade 20cm long chromed marked VERCHROMT, showing light wear, but generally very good unsharpened condition. Completed by an excellent black enamel metal scabbard, leather frog and bullion and leather ‘faustriemen’ bayonet knot.

Nazi German R.L.B. 2nd model enlisted man’s dagger and scabbard by WKC Waffenfabrik Solingen. Pommel has the engraved accent line with ebony grip with minor surface markings. Central RLB button with silvering on the sunburst worn down to the copper near ends, with similar wear to swastika. Straight quillon arms with triangular ends. 21.5cm blade is in very good condition, being bright steel with reverse ricasso having a very fine makers mark with Knights head Logo. The scabbard has nickel mounts with straight body with some loss to the factory black paint finish. Headless screws in the edges all present.

WW2 Nazi Germany Arnsberg Police officer’s parade bayonet and scabbard by Alec Coppel Solingen. Features aluminium eagle head pommel, backstrap and guard with Arnsberg police markings. Grips in staghorn solid with tight pins, Nazi eagle and swastika wreath police emblem very fine. Maker marked 27cm nickel plated steel blade in clean unsharpened condition. Scabbard with supple black leather body and nickel chape, scabbard throat marked S.Ar.I1455 .and hilt marked S.Ar.I1244 marked (Arnsberg Police), dark brown leather frog.

WW2 Nazi Germany Army officer’s dagger, scabbard, knot and hanger by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen. Features excellent pommel cap and cross guard, dark orange coloured grip is in good condition. 26cm long maker stamped blade in very good condition. Scabbard is dent free with only minor spot corrosion. Beautiful belt hanger in silver thread and green velvet. Dagger knot shows expected wear and tear but is complete. All-round a complete dagger set in excellent condition.

WW2 Japanese prisoner’s tanto knives, French colonial knife & billhook (3). Featured are 2 vendor attributed (not guaranteed) Japanese knives made whilst prisoner of war WW2 with light wood handles and scabbard with tin bindings. Blades are cutdown knife blade and reshaped steel, fit scabbards well, 23cms and 16cm in scabbard. French stamped blade that’s been fitted to Colonial native fittings, wooden tooled scabbard has section missing near throat, total length 29.5cm. Billhook blade knife features wooden ribbed grip with light brass fitting sand steel tang nut. Forged steel billhook blade carries sharp inner edge. Total length 48cm.

1920’s era U.S. Marine Corps named officer’s ‘mameluke’ sword and scabbard. German made Conqueror N S MEYER NC sword, number 202. Features composite orange faux ivory grip with brass star rivets and acorn tipped guard. Double etched 76cm long, slightly curved unsharpened stainless blade, showing USMC anchor and eagle World Shield with large “United States Marines” etched both sides, officers name “Howard P Done” to blade panel. Sword finished off nicely with correct black leather sword knot, fits well into the twin ringed nickel scabbard. An impressive display piece. Overall measures 92.4cm.

19th C. Martindale greenhorn machete made for South American market. Features Green Horn and brass/steel rivet bird beak handle with ‘S’ guard ending in acorns, cross guard. Full length 65cm tang to point single fullered blade with Makers stamp and crocodile logo to ricasso facing. Blade is bright but carries some nicks to edge and scattered minor areas of shallow pitting. Scabbard of brown leather has some stitching lose and leather wear to back near throat and near drag.

2nd pattern Fairbairn Sykes commando dagger and scabbard. Black enamel ribbed 2nd pattern type ‘hatched’ grip, maker marked for J. Nowill and Sons, Sheffield. Dept. Defence arrow stamped to guard. 17.5cm long plated double edge blade. Black leather frog with elastic suspender and leg ties.

North African Sudan fighting dagger knife and modern tanto knife. Sudanese Double edged, hand forged stamped blade, hardwood handle and hand tooled leather with reptile possible crocodile straps 26cm in scabbard. 2nd blade is a modern tanto, blue cotton wrap over wooden grips. Brass loose ring hanger is quite nice and possibly off another better piece, plated unsharpened blade and wooden black painted sheath. Overall measures 45.5cm.

C. 1870 German cavalry 1860 pattern export sword and scabbard by Rohrig and Co. Possibly American Civil War used sword, with 3 bar brass hilt with leather and wire twist grip in fine condition. Curved double fullered unsharpened blade 92cm long. Blade stamped R & C (Rohrig & Cie), steel scabbard very solid and carries 1 dent to the front, unstamped, double loose ring hanger, blade fits nicely. Quality German export sabre possible Civil war import. Overall measures 109cm.

Lot 92

1796 pattern British Army engraved light cavalry officer’s sword and scabbard. Wide bow guard with leather wrapped wooden grips, with bottom ferrule showing some movement. Blade being gilt engraved with military regalia including mounted officer, Knight “Dieu et mon droit” & “Honi soit qui mal y pense” motto. Crest and crowned King George cypher, with majority of gold present in the engravings. Blade shows normal service edge nicks, the blade measuring 84cm. Scabbard missing one hanger ring, throat section repaired, 2 seam holes but main body fair with period dents and surface corrosion. Scarce sabre in fair condition. Overall measures 99cm.

1888 pattern British bayonet and scabbard dated 1901 by Enfield. Features plain wood grips, steel mounted with working locking button. 30.5cm spear point blade, production stamped for November 1901, age patina and minor pitting. Scabbard leather torn near bottom mount. Measures 44cm long.

Lot 41

WW2 USN MK-1 machete legitimus Collins & Co 1942. Black/brown 2-piece composite grip hilt with 4 steel pins, light wear. Full tang steel blade 77cm long from tang end to point, factory darkened facing, worn manufacturer stamped. Field sharpened with numerous nicks to blade edge. Scabbard stencilled “U.S.N.’ MK.1, all rivets present. Olive drab throat has paint loss, minor wear fraying to edge, 2 holes where blade point has worn through canvas near scabbard end. Sheath material has some staining, but all complete.
