Two swords (sayfs), South Arabia, circa 1900, The first with watered steel blade, the grip with hardwood facings and gold sheet mounted, in an iron mounted and fabric covered wooden sheath with embossed gold sheet mounts with two suspension rings, blade approx. 32" long, sword 97cm long total; the other fitted with a double fullered shashka blade, embossed gold sheets applied to the pommel and cross guard, the hilt lacking a bone facing, in a similar scabbard with sword knots, blade approx. 31.5", sword 95.5cm total (2) Provenance: Purportedly gifted by Ibn Saud to the vendors grandfather while he was a diplomat stationed in Saudi Arabia before WWII. Abdulaziz bin Abdul Rahman Al Saud, 1880-1953, known in the West as Ibn Saud, was a tribal, political, and religious leader who founded the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and reigned as its first King from 1932 until his death in 1953. Condition Report: The first described: the sheet gold of the grip is lifting, split and bent at the widest point of the mount. Typical wear to the grip consistent with age. The blade is tarnished and is possibly replaced. The scabbard has wear, dark tarnishing and indentations to the gilt mounts. Heavier knocks and mis-shaping to the tip. The leather elements are dry and have shrunk a little to be expected with age and use. One section of leather at the top is lifting and the pins securing all the leather elements are lost. The second described: as noted in the description, one bone mount to the grip is lacking. One securing pin to the remaining bone mount is missing but the mount is securely in place. The gold sheet mount to the grip on the side with the missing bone mount in dented and mis-shapen at the widest point. Typical wear and tarnishing overall consistent with age and use. The blade is possibly replaced. The scabbard with losses and heavy wear to the leather elements. A dent to the side of the top gilt mount. The lower half mounted in sheet white metal is heavily tarnished and dull in appearance. There are inevitable knocks and bruises to be expected with age and use.

A WW2 era M.S.V.N. Italian Blackshirt’s dagger. Issued to the Milizia Voluntaria per la Sicurezza / Voluntary Militia for National Security. Of standard form, with a contoured one piece wooden grip, with 2 rivets holding the tang in place. Flat wooden plate to form the pommel. Steel cross guard, and leather washer positioned at the ricasso. Double edged blade, with one edge running 2/3 of the blade length. Compete with black painted metal scabbard, with one side have the raided letters ‘M.V.S.N’ and the fascist symbol. The other side has the remains of what would have been the belt clip. Length approximately 33.1cm, blade length 20.8cm. Condition: service wear and some faults. The cross guard has had a fracture to the metal at some point in its life, and has a period repair. The belt clip has broken away in the past, leaving only the rivet behind. The blade has normal patination and wear to the surface.

A Spanish M1941 Mauser Bolo bayonet, complete with adapter for the M1943 Mauser. Standard chequered grips secured by 2 screws. Darkened steel pommel and cross guard. Single edged blade with fuller to both sides. Marked ‘Toledo FN’ to the ricasso. Serial number 7406 to the other side of the ricasso. Complete with black painted metal scabbard. Approximately 41cm length when in scabbard (including adapter). Blade length 24.8cm. Condition: generally very good. Normal service and age related wear. Some very light surface marks and paint lift in places. Blade is clean and bright.

A late 19th / early 20th Indian talwar sword and scabbard. Of traditional form, all steel construction, with contoured handle, convex quillon, and disc shaped pommel with spike finial. Curved single edge blade with flat spine. Complete with leather covered scabbard. No apparent makers marks. Approximately 91cm in scabbard. Condition: generally good. Some darkening and pitting to the steel parts, plus very minor corrosive spotting. The leather scabbard is complete, but there is a split to the leather at the chape - otherwise general service wear.

A fine quality 18th / 19th century Papal Chamberlain’s sword, with likely earlier 17th century blade. All steel construction with inlaid horn grip. Square section cross guard with acorn finials, chased floral decoration to the handle, and a fluted pommel. Double edged straight rapier blade with shallow fuller to both sides. Running wolf blade makers mark to one side. Scabbard absent. Approximately 96.5cm length. Condition: generally very good. Fine patina and colour to both the hilt and blade. The horn handle has some minor nicks to the edge and surface, but these are not detrimental. Blade is good, with even colour and minor mottling in places. Fine track lines to the blade from having been used in a scabbard.

A vintage mid 20th century Knights Templar commanders sword, by C.E.Ward Co New London. Gilt on white metal cross guard, pommel, and langet, the latter with red infilled enamel detail. Black japanned grip with inset white metal cross. 70cm blade, with etching to both sides, featuring crusades scenes, religious symbolism, and a memento mori skull. Makers mark etched to the ricasso. Complete with gilt on white metal scabbard, with 3 suspension rings, and moulded decorative bands along the length, some with red enamel infills. Some of the scabbard bands are marked ‘54’. Notes: the gold wash to the hilt and scabbard would indicate that the sword belonged to a commander. Total length in scabbard approximately 91.5cm. Condition: generally very good and solid. Some very minor service wear to the high points of the gilt finish, revealing the white base metal below. Minor red enamel losses in a couple of places, but overall these are not detrimental. Blade is clean and bright, with clear etching,
Lot 70
A British No.7 MK1 bayonet and other military related items. To included: a 1948 dated No.7 bayonet, designed primarily for the Sten Gun. With paxolin grips and distinctive swivelling pommel. The blade is marked at the ricasso with ‘No7 MK1 L’ and to the other side it is faintly marked 1948 and what appears to be a letter P in a circle. This would likely related to the Poole factory, who produced around 30,000 of the 176,000 produced in total. The pommel is faintly marked ‘F5B’ and with a broad arrow mark, plus the other side is faintly marked ‘Made in UK’. Please note that the bayonet is minus its scabbard. Plus a Skean Dhu style sock knife, with citrine paste stone set into the pommel, and base metal mounts. A Irish clan badge style motif is inset into the grip, a cased Pingat Jasa Malaysia Medal complete with its miniature medal and ribbon bar, a WW1 era ‘Bovril Handy-Book & Diary of the War’, 2 x Peter Hicks bronze resin military figurines, and 2 vintage Dinky armoured vehicle toys. 8 items. Condition: Varies across pieces. The No.7 bayonet is good, with only normal service wear. The Skean Dhu is in good condition. The WW1 booklet is in poor condition, with loose pages and creasing. The Pingat Jasa medal appears to be virtually mint. The resin figurines are in average condition, and one has rifle that appears to have broken away. The 2 Dinky toys are play worn, with missing tracks to the tank.

An early 20th century Middle Eastern Khanjar dagger. Wooden grip with chased brass pommel, and a chased brass sheath. One suspension ring to the scabbard, and one absent. Slightly curved steel blade. Approximately 41cm in scabbard, blade length 22.5cm. Condition: well used. Wear to the wooden handle on one side, plus old solder to the brass pommel. Wear to the chased detail on the sheath, plus some denting from use. One suspension ring absent. Some pinch marks to the blade on both sides. Plus, a 20th century Indian ‘wedding sword’ style dagger. 37cm length in scabbard.
Lot 58
A WW2 era Japanese Katana sword. Shagreen handle with leather wrap, bronze mounts and tsuba. Lacquered scabbard with single bronze ring mount. Slightly curved steel blade with fuller to both sides. Blade length 67cm - total length 95.2cm (in scabbard). Notes: the blade is likely older than the handle and mounts. The tang appears to have been shortened, possibly to fit into the standard handle. The peg to secure the handle to the tang is absent, meaning the handle will pull off. Condition: aside from the missing peg, the handle is in good condition, with a good patina to both the bronze fittings and leather grip. The scabbard’s finish is service worn, and the there is a small amount of verdigris to the bronze chape. The blade shows normal service wear, with track marks to the steel, and some tiny clips to the cutting edge in places.

A British 19th century 1827 pattern Royal Navy Officers Sword. Brass fold down guard, with fouled anchor and Queen’s crown inset into the guard. Brass backpiece and pommel, the latter being shaped as a lions head, the mane forming the pattern on the backpiece. Fish skin grip with twisted wire binding, and original sword knot attached to the guard. Steel single edged blade, with flat spine, single fuller, and etched decoration to both sides. Complete with original leather and brass scabbard. Approximately 91cm in scabbard. Condition: generally good condition to the sword, with the scabbard having faults. General light service wear to the brass guard and grip. Much wear to the surface of the sword knot, with the bullion parts having been worn away. The blade has a normal service wear, with darkening to the steel, and wear to the etched decoration. The leather to the scabbard is heavily worn, with the bottom section being detached but present (and the remains of an old repair).

A Victorian 1845/1854 pattern infantry officers sword. Fish skin grip with copper wire binding. Nickel plated Gothic style guard with integral VR cypher, rounded quillon, and stepped pommel. Single edged blade with fuller to both side, etched decoration featuring the VR cypher and crown. Proof mark and makers mark for Trayler & Co of Portsmouth at the ricassp. Complete with leather sword knot. Notes: Trayler & Co operated in High Street, Portsmouth as tailors and outfitters from 1881-1905. Approximately 97cm length. Condition: generally very good. Fish skin grips are intact, as is the wire binding. Wear to the high points of the nickel plating on the guard, which reveals the brassy base metal. The blade is clean, with only minor mottling in places. Some wear to the surface of the etched decoration, but most is legible. Scabbard is absent.

A 20th century Nigerian Army Officer’s parade sword. Ivorine grip with twist wire binding, and eagle head backpiece. Chromed closed guard with Coat of Arms of Nigeria set upon a round tablet. Hooked quillon with fold down guard. Etched single edged non fullered blade, with a short section near the tip being double edged. Nickel plated parade scabbard with 2 suspension rings. No apparent makers marks. Approximately 97.5cm length in the scabbard, blade length 81.5cm. Condition: generally good. No plate loss to the guard or scabbard. Grip and wire binding is intact. The scabbard appears to be missing the retaining stud to hold down the fold down part of the guard.
Lot 102
A 1796 pattern infantry officers sword (AF). Gilt brass fold down guard, wooden grip with wire binding, and gilt brass pommel. Steel single edged blade, with single fuller and flat spine. Approximately 99cm. Condition: fair. Missing knuckle guard and quillon (these appear to have broken away at some point, perhaps purposely). A hole remains in the pommel where the guard once fitted. The wire binding to the wooden handle is loose and moves around. Good level of gilt finish remaining to the folding guard and pommel. Blade is mottled and pitted in places. Scabbard absent.
Lot 89
A 19th century Indian talwar sword. Typical form, with brass handle, convex quillons, and disc pommel with spike attachment. Chased flower and tiger decoration to the handle, plus further flower head motifs to the quillons. Steel single edged curved blade. Wooden scabbard with leather covering, and a white metal / silver chape. No apparent makers marks to the item. Approximately 92cm when in scabbard - blade length 79.8cm. Condition: generally good. Normal wear to handle commensurate with age and use. Slight play to the disc pommel, but still secure. The blade is solid, but there are some darkened areas and minor areas of pitting. The scabbard has a good even colour and patina, but there a sections of the leather covering missing, plus some separation along the stitched seam. The white metal chape has a small hole to the end, but is still securely attached to the scabbard.

A late 19th / early 20th century cavalry sword, with German blade. Brass 5 bar hilt and quillon. Steel backpiece and pommel, with fish skin grips and wire binding. Curved steel blade with single fuller and flat spine. Marked WK&C at the ricasso for Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Cie (founded 1883). Approximately 97cm. Condition: generally fair, with some service wear. The brass hilt is a little bent in place, plus it has some service contact marks. The fish skin grip is quite worn, revealing the wooden handle underneath. The steel backpiece and pommel has darkened with age. The blade has also darkened with age, and is mottled with dark spots in places. The cutting edge of the blade also has many nicks to it. Scabbard absent.

British 1858 Percussion Enfield Three Band Rifle (140cm) and Ring Bayonet (17”) with original scabbard, The condition of the rifle is good with working action that holds on half & full cock, Victorian, Tower mark and date to lock, the wood and brass look to be original with normal amounts of damage, comes with period ramrod.
Lot 382
An early 1st type German Hitler youth knife with associated scabbard. Standard nickel plated pommel and cross guard, cross hatched or chequered Bakelite grips with inset enamelled Hitler youth diamond badge. Early blade with engraved motto ‘Blut und Ehre’ - marked ‘ED Wusthof Solingen Ges.Gesch’ Black painted scabbard with leather belt loop and retaining strap. Leather washer still present at ricasso. Approximately 25.4cm length in scabbard. Notes: information supplied by the vendor states the the knife was acquired as a piece of ‘war booty’ at the end of WW2 by Douglas Fitzpatrick from the Submarine pen in Kiel, Germany. Conditon: generally fair. Wear to the nickel plating on the pommel, plus what appears to be an old repair to the enamel on the HJ diamond (the surface texture is different, and the enamel is darker). The scabbard retain around 50% of its black paint to the front, with over 90% remaining to the reverse. The blade is clean and bright, with minimal spotting. Both the motto and makers mark are clear. The leather washer at the ricasso is present but split.

A 19th century cavalry sabre, likely French in origin. Brass 3 bar guard, with brass quillon, backpiece, and lions head pommel. Leather bound grip with twisted wire bindings, plus navette shaped langets to both sides. Curved single edged blade with false edge towards the tip, a flat spine, and shallow single fuller. Approximately 100cm total length - blade length 86cm. Condition: generally good, with some service wear. Some light knock and darkening to the brass on the hilt. Leather bound handle and wire binding intact. Steel blade has darkened and has a mottled appearance in places. Several nicks to the blade, with a noticeable one near the ricasso. There is some play to the guard where it meets the pommel. Scabbard absent.
Lot 97
A U.S. WW2 era M1 bayonet and scabbard for the Garand rifle. Formerly the M1905 bayonet made by Springfield, the blades were shortened to 10 inches from 16 inches during WW2. This was carried out by UFH (United Fork & Hoe), and their details are stamped to the ricasso. Black finely ribbed plastic grips with darkened steel pommel. Steel cross guard and muzzle ring, along with darkened steel blade. Single edged blade with single fuller to each side, which extends almost the entire length of the blade. Green resin scabbard with metal throat and belt clip (this stamped US). Approximately 39.8cm length in scabbard, blade length 25cm. Condition: very good. Some light service wear overall, and a couple of small chips to the edge of the scabbard.

An 1871 pattern Imperial Prussian bayonet, dated 1873. Brass handle with diagonally grooved grip and beak pommel. Push button rifle release catch built into the handle. Steel cross guard with curled quillons to both ends. Straight single edged blade, with flat spine and single fuller. Makers mark of Weyersberg of Solingen at the ricasso. Also marked 14 AF 4 H 1 to the cross guard. Approximately 59.5cm. Conditon: solid, but much service wear to the backpiece. Knocks and scratches to the brass handle, especially the backpiece. Age related darkening to the cross guard and blade, with the latter having a mottled appearance. The push button release catch is operational. Scabbard absent.
