A 19th Century Cavalry sword and scabbard with brass hand guard, 117 cm overall CONDITION REPORTS Scabbard with various pitting and rusting. Sword grip with various wear and dirt, various symbols impressed into the brass knuckle guard etc. (see photos) also stamped with No. 692, and also stamped with an indistinct No. 234 which appears to have been scored out, blade is stamped to side but markings somewhat rubbed (see photo) and blade is indistinctly inscribed to top flat section "M fture fmple du and (?) Kingenthal Octobre 1813" (see photos). Overall with various scratches and wear.
Meissen figure group modelled as a Gentleman wearing armour and lady companion, cut through crossed swords mark and incised model number 543 to base, late 19th century, 23cm high Condition report: The tip of the scabbard and the ladyÆs thumb missing. A Victorian dress sword with chased gilt grip and helmet pommel, the etched double edge blade with VR monogram, later scabbard. note. This dress sword belonged to Sir Charles Lemon, 2nd Baronet of Carclew, son of Sir William Lemon, 1st Baronet. Sir Charles and his family lived in the, now lost, country estate at Carclew. Having been born into a family deeply involved in Cornish politics, Sir Charles followed suit. In several stints between 1807 and 1857 he served as an M.P. in Cornwall, during which time he led the petition against the removal of the packet service in Falmouth and funded the establishment of the Camborne School of Mines. He tragically lost all three of his children at a young age meaning the baronetcy became extinct after his death.
