* An 1854 pattern Scots Guards Officer's sword by Wilkinson, the steel hilt pierced with regimental badge, the blade etched on one side with crowned Victorian cypher and battle honours including Waterloo and Talavera, the other side etched with crowned regimental badge, battle honours including Alma and Sevastopol and with a further panel etched "To Wm Gascoigne from his Godfather General Kenah" in plated steel scabbard and with bullion sword knot with gilt acorn. Major-General Sir William Gascoigne, K.C.M.G. was born in 1844, commissioned into the Scots Fusilier Guards in 1863, was commanding the regiment in the early 1880s, serving in the Egyptian War, the Sudan, Canada, China and Hong Kong. Lieutenant-General Thomas Kenah, C.B., Colonel of the 63rd Foot, was commissioned in 1799 serving in Holland, Egypt, Sicily, and the Peninsula, he was appointed Lt-Gen in 1851. (2)
* An 1857 pattern Royal Engineers officer's sword by Wilkinson, the steel hilt pierced in honeysuckle pattern and the plain unfullered blade etched near the forts "Paul Methuen from George Chapman", in brown leather covered service scabbard (chape lacking), with sword frog and a Sam Browne belt. An old label attached to the hilt identifies this as the sword carried by Lord Methuen when commanding "Methuen's Horse" in Bechuanaland in 1884-85. (3)
An early Victorian silver gilt dress knife with close plated foliate patterned etched blade, the grip with bifurcated pommel chased with urns and scrolls within leaf patterned borders, similarly decorated scabbard with pierced terminal and chain suspension, face plate lacking from mouth of scabbard, by Joseph Wilmore, Birmingham 1843, overall length 13 3/4in.
