An antique Victorian mid to late 19th century Somersetshire Rifles Officers Sword. Blade decorative with pattern & crest of Somersetshire Rifles. Bearing makers mark and address ' Firmin & Son, 153 Strand & 13 Conduit St, London ' to top of blade. Handle of Shark skin construction. Within its original scabbard & measures approx 100cm long.
British 19th century Constabulary sword having broad curving fullered blade, brass stirrup hilt and fish skin grip, the quillon stamped with crowned VR cypher, with scabbard, blade length 59cm, sword length 73cm. A HANGER A Gentlemans hanger with clamshell guard having knuckle-bow and swept forward quillion, in brass. The blade of 22,1/2" in length, with three-quarter fuller near the spine. Horn tapering grip with a groove in the rear, to assist the grip. With a scabbard that fits well, though would take a longer blade and likely to be of a later construction.
A NAVAL SWORD RNV ALSO AN RNR OFFICERS SWORD BELT. A George V period naval officers sword complete with scabbard, marked London Made and Morris Angel & Son, 117 Shaftesbury Avenue, WC. Having a clean blade with RNV markings, also fitted with a sword knot. The forward quillion is missing, the scabbard of black leather with brass mounts.
AN AMERICAN OFFICERS 1872 PATTERN SWORD & SCABBARD (OHIO V) An 1872 pattern sword made by M C Lilley & Co of Columbus Ohio, with 30" double-edged slim blade form. Marked amidst the foiliage and flags, crests etc is W Hammond 7th USV Infantry. Complete with a ornate hilt and steel scabbard, plain wooden (split) grip. The 7th 'Ohio' Volunteer Infantry Regiment, distinguished themselves greatly during the Civil War. A memorial exists for those who died at Gettysburg.
A SILVER MOUNTED TULWAR. A silver mounted Tulwar 18thC/19thC with ornately damascened foiliage designs, etc. Curved single-edged 29.1/2" blade, complete with an armourer's stamped mark. Three quarter fuller blade with a scabbard of green leather, covering over the wooden frame. Having a relief slot at the throat, to enable drawing and sheathing the curved blade. See Illustration
AN EARLY ENGLISH NAVAL CUTLASS. A late 17thC English naval cutlass with cast brass hilt and dogshead pommel. Brass knucklebow with three bar guard connected to disc guards. 26.1/2" curved blade with fluted point, marked with the running fox mark on both sides. Single narrow three-quarter fuller, complete with a leather covered scabbard. See Illustration.
A 17thC CONTINENTAL SIDEARM. A 17thC sidearm or hunting hanger, with a 20.1/2" straight blade with three fullers. The middle one is a full length fuller with traces of latin letters, between them. The hilt of steel as is the shell and quillion guards, antler horn grips with a steel pommel. The scabbard of red leather and having steel mounts. 25.1/2" overall length. See Illustration
A 17thC MORTUARY SWORD. A 17thC Mortuary Sword with cast brass hilt and shell decoration, with the head of Charles 1? on the bulbous pommel. White grip with circular grooves, the guard itself of solid form. Short langets on the straight 33" blade with single edge, having a full length wide fuller and narrow three-quarter fuller. The scabbard of leather covered finish with brass mounts. See Illustration
A PUSH DAGGER & SCABBARD. A Push or Palm Dagger marked Lockwood Brothers Sheffield , also Real Knife Pampa. Steel blade and part hilt, with wooden pommel for palm and fingers to grip. 3.1/2" diamond pattern double-edged blade, tapering to a point, complete with a sheath. Lockwood Brothers were working between 1849 and 1921 in Sheffield. Of the type favoured by Gamblers and gentlemen of dubious intent. See Illustration
AN 1XL BOWIE KNIFE. A horn handled Bowie knife with an attractive 9.7/8" blade, marked I* X L , complete with a red leather scabbard. On the blade is an Eagle and George Wostenholm & Son, Washington Works, Sheffield. Nickel plated crossguard with cow horn rivetted grips, the scabbard with steel throat and plated chafe. AN TURKISH DAGGER. An eastern dagger with much gold decoration, including on the stone pommel and hilt. A well made multi-fullered blade of some strength with raised centre-rib, chiselled decoration with gold covering. 9.3/4" blade with an overall length of 14.1/2". With a scabbard that is of covered wood, with metal wrapped chafe and throat. See Illustration
SFOR MEMORABILIA. An SFOR fighting knife and scabbard with Ceske Republiky markings and SFOR on the scabbard. The black hard plastic grip and 5.1/2" bowie style blade, with stainless markings etc. Cloth patches for SFOR include a N Zealand Armband, Black Hawk sleeve badge, Czech sleeve badge, B Coy LdSH (RC) . Metal badges include Malcon 111 SFOR (Malaysian) SFOR medallions x 2, etc. A copper Mostar Plaque, of the famous bridge 15" x 12.1/2". SFOR were a NATO led multinational force, stationed in Bosnia and Herzegovina from December 1996. To deter hostilities and stabilize the peace, at first during Operation Joint Guard, later during Operation Joint Forge 1998-2004. Stationed in the Barya Luka region, later taken over by Nato Forces. Awarded the Armede Forces Expeditionary Medal, also the Nato Medal.
