Bayonets with this bracketed form of cast-in slogan are attributed to Leonard Schreiber, Cincinnati, during the 1850s. Rare to find leather scabbard still intact. Cavalry Officer`s saber Model 1860.35" blade length, brass pommel and knuckle bow. Leather and brass wire wrapped handle. Marked on the flat at ricasso Mansfield and Lamb and dated 1865. Metal scabbard. A popular model because of Indian Wars issue. Condition: Blade is in almost mint condition with very sharp crisp markings. Blade still shows the original polished lines. Springfield Model 1872 Light Cavalry Officer`s Sword34" blade with etched panels of military motifs. On the blade near the ricasso in four lines is an etched panel marked U.S., Armory, Springfield, Mass. This type of marking was used on swords circa 1880. Shagreen and gilt brass wire wrapped handle, with gilt chased pommel and three-fingered guard. Metal scabbard with chased brass fittings and drag. Condition: Blade and handle are in excellent condition. Blade retains 98% of the nickel finish. Nickel scabbard is speckled with storage rust. Metal scabbard with brass carrying rings. Condition: Blade is gunmetal grey with some light black staining. Handle is excellent. Brass with nice patina. Springfield Model 1905/1906 Experimental Saber27" nickel-plated blade length, marked at ricasso serial number 68, on the reverse 1906 SA and flaming bomb. Shagreen and brass wire wrapped handle. Checkered designed steel pommel with steel cupped knuckle bow. Brown leather scabbard with two metal carrying rings. Near the throat is marked 59, 8, RIA and dated 1906. Condition: This is an excellent specimen of a very rare sword made at Springfield arsenal. Total production was around 160. There is some minute wear spots to the shagreen handle. Blade is near mint retaining all of the original nickel finish. Leather scabbard has some scuffs, and the drag is opened a little and exposed.Starting Price: $2000

1920s: German made Irish Free State Army officer`s swordBrass hilt, fishskin and wire grip, leather scabbard.32 inch blade stamped "Germany" with etched design incorporating the Irish Harp, Oglaigh na hÉireann badge and Celtic knotwork. Crossguard with Oglaigh na hÉireann badge. Some early Irish Free State Army swords were made in Germany but the majority were, after pressure was brought to bear by the British government, commissioned from Wilkinson in London, who diplomatically omitted their usual trademark from the blade.
