HIGHLANDER (T.V. Series, 1992-1998) - Duncan MacLeod's (Adrian Paul) Hero KatanaDuncan MacLeod’s (Adrian Paul) sword of the Dragon katana from the fantasy-action TV series Highlander. MacLeod was given his iconic dragon-head katana by his mentor, the samurai Hideo Koto (Robert Ito).This sword design was made by Marto Toledo for Season 3. From the end of season 5 and onwards, this sword would feature a bronze collar along the neckline of the dragon-head pommel.The sword’s blade is made of 440 stainless steel, and its handle is resin, coloured to resemble carved ivory and featuring Japanese iconography, including its enigmatic dragon-head pommel. PACIFIC, THE (T.V. SERIES, 2010) - Japanese Officer's Hero Katana and ScabbardA Japanese officer's hero katana and scabbard from the HBO war drama mini-series The Pacific. Japanese officers carried katanas both ceremonially and as a weapon for hand-to-hand combat.The katana is made from metal with woven leather on the handle and features a cherry blossom design on the tsuba (guard), fuchi (handle collar), menuki (handle ornament) and fuchi-kashira (end cap). The katana comes with a brown leather scabbard into which it locks in place when sheathed, and a button on the handle frees the blade when pressed. The blade is tarnished with stage blood, has a dulled edge, and some of the metal shows discolouration. PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, THE (2004) - The Phantom's (Gerard Butler) Masquerade Stunt Sword and MaskThe Phantom's (Gerard Butler) stunt sword and mask from Joel Schmacher's film adaptation of The Phantom of the Opera. The Phantom wore his mask and wielded his sword after gatecrashing the masquerade ball held at the Opera House, where he demanded that the managers stage his new opera Don Juan.The sword, made of resin with inner metal supports, resembles a rapier and features an ominous skull as a crossguard. The sword is cast in the scabbard painted black and silver and shows minor paint wear and exposed metal from the removal of two prongs from the crossguard. The mask, made of fibreglass and resin, features a similar skull design with protruding brow and cheekbones. The inside of the mask is unfinished and there is no strap, indicating that it was not worn during shooting. A rare and impressive late 19th century Chinese Jian double-edged straight sword, the blade with obvious forge marks, seven holes with copper star and circle inserts and Chinese script towards the top on both sides of the blade, with brass hilt, green shagreen handle with copper rosette to the top, with copper-clad hole to the centre and brass finial, in a shagreen hard case, with brass embellishments, length of blade approx 74cm, length of sword 96cm, length of scabbard 86cm. CONDITION REPORT: Age-related wear, discolouration to areas of the blade, more to the tip. Clear inscriptions, some small areas of wear to the shagreen handle and case. Basically good condition.
