An RN Midshipman’s dirk c 1856, broad blade 12”, DE for half its length, by “Thos Walton, Gosport, Outfitter to HRH Prince Albert, HRH The Prince of Wales and Prince Alfred, and HSH Prince Ernest of Lienengen”, finely etched overall with crowned fouled anchor and crowned VR cypher within scrollet foliate, frosted panels, regulation brass hilt, the shallow S shaped crossguard with acorn finials, lion’s head pommel and backstrap, wirebound white sharkskin grip, in its leather scabbard with engraved locket and chape, with knot (worn). GC, the blade retaining virtually all original finish (a few tiny speckles to edges, most gilt rubbed). Plate 6

A most impressive French Revolutionary period sidearm, slightly curved, fullered blade 27”, marked “B” and dated “18 (0)4” (unclear) at forte, heavy brass hilt, the crossguard with hound’s head finials and lion’s head centres, plain shallow pistol shaped grip and fearsome cockerel’s head pommel, in associated brass mounted leather (restored) scabbard. A French infantry officers sword, c 1832, shallow diamond section, tapering blade 31½”, hollow ground for 2/3rds length, marked “Manufactre Royale de Klingenthal” (faint) on one side, the inscription on the other side unclear, brass hilt with double shell guard, the outer one bearing an applied fleur de lys, the inner one turning down with ball catch, knucklebow with cap quillon, ovoid pommel, silver wirebound grip, in its brass mounted leather scabbard (leather limp), with brass chape and locket. Sword bears impressed number "13213" to blade, blade with wear scuffs and some nicks to edge, grip appears to be fairly firmly fixed to blade, there does not appear to be any other makers mark or inscriptions. Length of blade approx. 82.5 cm.

Ivorine grip in good condition, complete with original tightly wound wire. Swastika's in pommel retaining appox. 75% of original gilding. Retaining uncleaned patination.
A 19th century Royal Navy officer`s dress sword the bi-fulllered, acid-etched and gilt floral inlaid blued steel blade over single knuckleguard, wire bound fish skin grip and lion`s mark pommel, in a brass-mounted leather scabbard, inscribed `Captain The Honourable Robert Gore`; also inscribed with the Devonport outfitter`s address.
