The blade with George V cypher, etched to blade Stanley H De La Mare.Stanley de la Mare was born in 1876 and served with the British South African Police for 12 months, leaving in 1898 and joining the 49th Company Imperial Yeomanry to fight in the Boer War. He was then commissioned into the Montgomeryshire Yeomanry on 10/10/1914 and was mentioned in dispatches on 13/11/1916. He served with the Royal Engineers Tunnelling Company from November 1915 to March 1918 and after the war served with the 53 Welsh Division. See also lot 1447 and 1446 relating to De La Mare.
