Lieutenant Colonel Geoffrey W. Webber, 10th Gurkha Rifles - an original WWII Second World War period early to mid 20th Century large Nepalese Gurkha Kukri knife. 19" long total length. Carved shaped leather carved wooden handle, leading to a typical elongated curved single edged blade (some oxidisation). Housed within its original leather covered wooden scabbard, with single Chakmak smaller dagger. Includes a smaller inner leather scabbard / wallet. This Kukri was originally owned by Dilbahadur Limbu, and his name is included within the small leather wallet section (and is mentioned in Webber's memoirs, published in 2014). With original leather belt frog present. Lieutenant Colonel Geoffrey W. Webber was born in Middlesex in 1924. In 1942 he joined the Middlesex Regiment, and by 1944 was attached to the 4th Battalion, 10th Gurkha Rifles - seeing action in both Burma and Indo-China. After the Second World War he was posted to India, and served in the 4th Battalion Bihar. In March of 1947 he was one of 150 ex-4th Battalion Gurkhas drafted to Rangoon to join the 1st Battalion where he came across the Amritsar Riots. In 1948 he joined the 11th Battalion Parachute Regiment (later becoming the 8th Middlesex Regiment, and then 5th Middlesex Regiment. By 1962 Webber was in command of 5th Battalion and his TA service ends. After his service, he moved to Sheat Manor on the Isle Of Wight and in 1998 he was awarded the MBE for Services To The Community. His memoirs were written and published in 2014.

The bowl shaped guard with Malaysian Armed Forces insignia to the underside and a fold down section securing it to the scabbard. The blade etched with scroll work. Measures approx 95cm.

Originale schwarze Lederscheide mit vergoldeten Beschlägen mit graviertem Dekor von Waffentrophäen und Arabesken. An Trageknopf. Lnge: 90 cm. Klinge: 75 cm.
