1845 Pattern Infantry Officer's Sword of Major General T.D. Carpenter (Madras Infantry), regulation blade by Henry Wilkinson, Pall Mall, London, un-numbered (pre-1854) etched with the crowned VR cypher amidst scrolling foliage and sharpened for field service, regulation pattern hilt retaining some original gilding, folding sideguard, wire bound fishskin covered grip, in its brass scabbard. Blade 83cms. Preserved in untouched condition this sword would benefit from careful cleaning.  An old and credible handwritten label reads "Another sword of Major Genl Thos David Carpenter Has also seen much service -especially in Band and Kirklace (?) campaign signed M S Lamb." Thomas David Carpenter, Madras Infantry 29 August 1859, Major General of H.M. Indian Forces (from 1860 Army List).

Good condition, some age wear, retains approximately 85% original gilding.

Very Fine Victorian 1827 Pattern Presentation Sword of the Derbyshire Rifle Volunteers, regulation blade by Henry Wilkinson, Pall Mall, London No. 10614 finely etched and mirror polished with crowned VR cypher, Sudbury 2nd Derbyshire VI Rifle Volunteers amidst foliage together with ‘Lord Vernon to Robert Booth’ beneath Lord Vernon's crest and motto, regulation steel guard and dress scabbard of blued steel, fish skin covered silver wire bound grip. Blade 82cms. The blade is preserved in almost mint condition and represents Wilkinson's best work. The hilt and scabbard retain much original blued finish. Fine condition, some staining to original blued finish, blade in close to mint condition.

Very Unusual Javanese Dagger Badek c.1800, bone hilt carved as a veiled Durga showing only her hair encased beneath pierced scroll work, short silver guard and scabbard mounts engraved with foliage against a cross-hatched ground (probably Chinese work), locket with belt hook, broad straight single edge blade showing extraordinary pattern welding.  Blade 27cms, overall 39cms. Good condition and age patina, small chip to back edge of scabbard.

Briggs (Bart) in March 1867.

Three Swords of Thomas Henry Purser, 69th (later 1st) Herefordshire Rifles (Bromyard Company) 1871-1892, comprising his 1827 pattern Rifle officer's sword, the blade etched and mirror polished with crowned 69th Herefordshire Rifles, regimental badge, laurel wreath, Union flags and foliage, regulation hilt incorporating the regimental badge, in its steel dress scabbard; his 1845 pattern Infantry officer's Presentation sword, blade by Prise & Co, Hart St, Covent Garden, London, etched and mirror polished with crowned VR cypher within foliage, together with "Presented to Major & Hon Lieut Col Thomas Henry Purser On His Promotion to Field Rank After 31 Years Service By Members of The Bromyard (D) Company Of The 1st Herefordshire Rifle Volunteer Corps April 1892" upon banners within foliage, brass hilt and scabbard of regulation pattern; and his 1895 Pattern Infantry officer's sword, blade by Hobson & Sons 1-3-5 Lexington St, London,  etched and mirror polished with crowned VR cypher, 1st Herefordshire R.V.C., and owner's initials T.H.P. all amidst foliage, regulation steel hilt and steel dress scabbard. All blades are preserved in almost mint condition, all hilts and scabbards have good age patina. T.H. Purser, Lieut 18.2,1871 in the 4th (Bromyard) I.A. Bn; Major Hon Lieut Col 13.06.1891 in the King's (Shropshire Light Infantry).

1856 Pattern Pioneer’s Saw Back Hanger, used in the Royal Navy 1864-1914, saw back blade 22.25” by Wilkinson with inspector’s and issue stamps, regulation brass hilt with volunteer markings to the 3rd Battalion of Seaforth Highlanders, in its brass mounted leather scabbard. Blade 87cms. Fine condition, blade retains virtually all original mirror polish.

Cummins When an Officer in the 46th Madras Native Infantry in 1863, slender regulation blade No 12610 by Henry Wilkinson, Pall Mall, London, etched with the crowned VR cypher amidst foliage, the owner's crest and motto, and along the back edge "R.B. CUMMINS 46th M.N.I." brass hilt with traces of gilding incorporates the owner's initials R.B.C. in the guard where the Royal cypher ought to be, folding sideguard retaining its white buckskin dress knot, copper wire bound fish skin covered grip, n its steel dress scabbard with 2 hanging rings. Together with extensive research data concerning R.B. Cummins (1839-1875) and his military career in India.  Blade 82.5cms.  Good clean condition. Together with extensive research data concerning R.B.
