dating: 1860 provenance: Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, Double-edged blade of lozenge section, the first hexagonal part signed 'Labruna' and '1860 Napoli' between floral motif engravings, areas with rust damage. Fine gilt brass hilt, the shell-guard with stylised spider's web, quillon, loop-guard and pommel decorated with floral motifs in bas-relief, mother-of-pearl grips. Without scabbard. length 91 cm.

dating: First half of the 19th Century provenance: Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, Straight, double-edged blade, probably of Spanish manufacture, of hexagonal section, with fuller at the forte and marked 'SAGVVM EL VIEGO / SAGVVM'. Brass hilt with strongly convex sword-shell. Ring nut worked with feather at the base of the blade. Guard and other elements with relief leaf decoration. Hilt covered with metal wire binding. Antique leather scabbard (damage and repairs) with brass mounts, the cap fits perfectly into the hilt ring nut. Interesting. See a similar example in 'Storia dell'Arma Bianca Italiana' by C. Calamandrei, p. 479, at the center with photo, indicated as 'Spada da gentiluomo di camera con esercizio 1830-1860', with 1840 Labruna blade. According to the owner's research, the sword may in fact be more antique, probably a footed Life Guard officer's sword. Cf.: see an item with the same hilt, from the Fiorentino collection of Neapolitan arms, indicated as 'Ufficiale delle Guardie dei Corpi a Piedi', sold in our auction no. 62 (lot 704). length 100 cm.

dating: 1838 provenance: Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, Straight, tipped, single-and short false-edged blade, grooved and with fuller, marked at the tang with the mark of the Royal Manufacture of Naples, mark 'Z' (inspector Antonio Zampognaro) and with the date '1838'. Some pitting. Brass hilt with guard provided with three additional loop-guards, mark 'S.N. 68' and number '419'. Short cap, grip with earlier leather covering and brass wire binding. Iron scabbard with two lugs, with signs of use and time, in old patina. Interesting. See a similar example in 'L'Esercito Borbonico dal 1830 al 1861' AA. VV. (Italian Army Staff, Rome 1998), Volume II, pp. 332-333, with photo. The number 419 marked on the guard could be of papal reuse. length 112,7 cm.

Brass hilt with remains of antique gilding, for a junior officer, with sword-shell decorated with floral motifs in relief, cap shaped as a lion's head, horn grip (small missing parts) with copper wire binding. Missing scabbard. Given the atypical features of the blade and the motto of the Risorgimento, the abbreviation CDV might stand for 'Corpo Dei Volontari' (Volunteers' Corp), a large military unit of volunteers serving Garibaldi during the Third War of Independence. length 99 cm.

dating: circa 1859 - 1860 provenance: Duchy of Parma, Tipped, single-and short false-edged blade, for a good part of its length with fuller, engraved at the forte with racemes and trophies, also engraved on the back. The tang is marked 'F.HÖRSTER' and the signature in italics 'Fur Jung / Wien'. Fine iron hilt with knuckle guard pierced with racemes and featuring the Bourbon fleur-de-lis in the centre. Long cap, grip covered with fish-skin, with metal wire binding. Iron scabbard provided with two lugs decorated with faceting. Interesting, given its good state of preservation, and rare. The Ussari di Piacenza regiment was formed in 1859, at the time of the Provisional Government, and later passed into the ranks of the Italian army after unification.Cf.: see a similar model in 'Storia dell'Arma Bianca Italiana' by Calamandrei (p. 410 with photo), the sabre is listed as one of those in the regiment's possession before unification. length 100 cm.

Elegant shell-guard pierced and worked in relief and featuring a crowned eagle between laurel and oak branches; two lion's heads at each end. Guard with knot. Pommel shaped as a lion's head, checkered ebony grip scales. Earlier leather scabbard (strong signs of time, but apparently one repair only) with silver mounts. Very rare and elegant. Pierced shell-guard decorated in relief, with a crowned Savoy eagle at the center featuring open wings, made of silver. Guard decorated with floral motifs. Pommel with busts in relief. Mother-of-pearl grip scales. Earlier leather scabbard (maybe a couple of repairs) with gilt brass mounts. Two suspension rings. Clutch with remains of gilt wire binding. length 89,3 cm.

dating: First half of the 19th Century provenance: Sardinian Kingdom, Straight, tipped, single-and short false-edged blade, with wide fuller doubling at the weak, with engravings with racemes and trophies on remains of a blued background on half of its length, and with mottos in Gothic characters 'Viva Carlo Alberto' and 'Viva la guardia civica'. Remains of a mark on one side of the tang. Signs of time. Typical, brass hilt with small sword-shell with two valves and guard with large holding ring. Grip covered with silver-plated foil worked like the wire biding. Black painted, iron scabbard with brass mounts; two lugs. length 99 cm.
