dating: early 20th Century provenance: The Philippines, Long and strong, curved, single-edged blade, angled at the base, with tang, a silver (?) eye at the end of the second third. Wooden grip with pommel embossed with a flower and engraved with geometrical motifs, the base covered with a thick weave of rattan. Wooden scabbard, repaired rattan bands. An arm of christian tribes. length 67 cm.

A BRITISH 1821 PATTERN ROYAL ARTILLERY OFFICER'S SWORD by Thurkle, the 88cm straight polished blade etched 'Royal / Artillery' and with a crowned Royal garter crest, the motto 'Ubique', a field gun, winged lightning bolts and foliate decoration, further personalized with an indistinct name and 'R.F.A. Feb. 1902', indistinctly marked with the maker's details at the ricasso, the back edge numbered '11477', the steel hilt with a three bar knuckle guard and fish-skin grip (lacking wire binding), in its field service scabbard, overall 107.5cm long.

A BRITISH 1827 PATTERN RIFLE REGIMENT OFFICER'S SWORD by Wilkinson, the 82.5cm straight plated and polished blade etched with a crown and foliate decoration, a strung bugle, a crowned royal coats of arms and 'ER II', marked at the ricasso '...Wilkinson / Sword/ Ltd...', the back edge numbered '78243', the steel bar hilt with a strung bugle device and with a wire-bound fish-skin grip, in a steel scabbard, overall 103cm long.
A Henry Wilkinson dress sword in brown leather scabbard, with shagreen grip CONDITION REPORTS There are numerous areas of rust along both sides of the entire blade. Areas of pitting - both on the blade and on the hilt and guard. The shagreen has small areas of loss, wear, fading. In the middle of the etched Star of David decoration at the front of the guard there is a cut out hexagonal with gold metal insert with "M" and another indistinct letter. See photos for more details. The Property of The Admiral of The Fleet, Lord Roger John Brownlow Keyes, First Baron Keyes GCB. KCVD. CMG. DSO. Lord Keyes of Zebrugge and Dover. A 19thC naval officer's scabbard of leather and brass construction by Wilkinson Gun and Sword Maker, Pall Mall, London. By repute- taken from the capture of Destroyer Hai Loong by Lieutenant Keyes after leading the boarding parties from HMS Fame and HMS Whiting during the Boxer Rebellion at Taku 1900. The scabbard was sold as part of a collection by the 2nd Baron Keyes in 1974 and was aware of a sword by Wilkinson taken from Ha Loong by his father, 82cm.Provenance - Sold at Wallis and Wallis 2.2.74.
A George III naval dirk, having double edged blade with foliate scrolls, crown and anchor engraved, signed J. Knubley (presumed to be John Knubley - active 1772-95), leading to guard with scrolling tips, above an ivory canted handle with central engraved cartouche, leather scabbard with white metal throat and tip, 46cm.
A Third Reich 2nd Pattern Luftwaffe dagger by Eickhorn, having aluminium pommel with Swastika, a deep orange celuloid handle with aluminium cross guard of swooping eagle with Swastika, blade marked with squirrel emblem of Eickhorn, with metal scabbard having acanthus leaves and banding, 42cm wide.
A Victorian British Pattern Martini Henry sword bayonet, manufactured by Wilkinson Sword Company, London, with singular edged blade marked 1888 leading to singular guard and fitment, with wooden grip. No scabbard, 60cm. Along with lot 3111 these two bayonets belonged to Frederick Punter who served in British South African Police (BSAP) force in Rhodesia; from 1952 as member no. 4853, he retired in 1982 from the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) as SNr. ASST. Commissioner.
A British military issue light cavalry sabre stamped 'Mole' to blade back with painted ribbed grip and stamped broad arrows mark and 1920 to blade base, with leather scabbard, blade length 58.5cm, also a late 19th century French bayonet with wooden grip and a hunting knife in leather scabbard (3). CONDITION REPORT All worn and will need some attention. The sabre with some corrosion to the blade, all with heavy surface wear. The bayonet blade is heavily pitted.
A 19th century dress sword, possibly American Confederacy Medical Officer, the brass guard with raised snake and staff detail and with further foliate detail throughout to brass mounts, mother of pearl type and wire bound grip, the tapered blade length approx 70cm, in leather and brass scabbard.
An Erfurt saw-back bayonet, a Wilkinson military issued bayonet, a Chassepot type bayonet, stamped 'BM' to blade base, a socket bayonet and a further smaller bayonet, all in scabbards, (one scabbard af) (5). CONDITION REPORT The Chassepot type bayonet scabbard top has become separated from the body, all items heavily worn, the wooden mounts of the Erfurt example are coming loose and have possibly been replaced.
