Early 19th Century oak cased 30hr cottage longcase clock marked J.W Shortman Newnham, having broken swan neck pediment above arched aperture flanked by plain pillars, the waist with strung outlined moulded door flanked by canted angles on a strung out lined panelled base. Arch painted face with floral spandrals, Roman numerals and seconds dial with date aperture. 30 hour single train movement, striking on one bell. 210cm high, the base 42 x 28cm approx. A bronze tubular sceptre finial comprising a bell-shaped mouth and balustered shank, openwork upper section formed as a bifacial stylised figure with ribbed collar, facing mask flanked by wings extending upwards to beast-heads grasped at the throat by a facing figure with bent arms.
