Maurice Clarke ( British b. 1875)Three quarter length portrait of an attractive young lady with ribbon tied chestnut hair, wearing a lace trimmed white gown, seated in an open armchair. Pastel, highlighted with white. Signed and dated April 1917 lower right, 76 x 59cm. Artists label verso, identifying the sitter as Monica Bell. There was little known about her early life but Monica joined the army in her twenties commissioned in the WRAC. By the end of the war she was a Colonel and served in Cairo for five years. After the war she returned to the UK and lived in Pluckley, near Ashford in Kent
A 9ct gold charm bracelet, featuring a heart shaped padlock clasp and nine charms. The charms include a claw holding a carnelian round, an articulated cannon, a bell, a child in a bath, a briolette crystal soda dispenser, a pistol, a wellington boot which opens to reveal a hiding kitten and a church which opens to reveal an enamelled bride, groom and vicar. Gross total weight 41.3 grams approximately.

RANTEI: A FINE IVORY NETSUKE OF A FOX WITH TEMPLE BELLBy Hogen Rantei, signed Rantei 蘭亭Japan, Kyoto, early 19th century, Edo period (1615-1868)Finely carved in openwork as a slender fox, probably an Inari fox, with neatly incised fur and long bushy tail clambering over a small mokugyo (Buddhist temple bell), which on the back is incised with the signature RANTEI within an oblong reserve. The back with a fine honey-yellow patina. The cord attachment runs through the looped handle of the bell.HEIGHT 3.4 cmCondition: Very good condition with minor wear and rubbing to the sumi-stained hairwork. Internally good with faint spotting & marks in places, lacking ffep, stitched at gutter of first title, tape reinforcement to rear gutter, binding worn and becoming loose, sold with all faults

Matchbox Models of Yesteryear Y13 1862 American "General" Class Locomotive - unlisted variation - dark green body, dark red chassis, black base, dark red baseplate rivet, gold condenser tops, silver headlamp lens, type B piston slot and with gold trim to bell - does have a few small edge rubs but still an interesting model in any condition, UK Matchbox Club Magazine Volume 8 page 179 mentions early issues having this gold painted bell - Excellent unboxed.
