Robert Burfield, Arundel, a late-18th century mahogany long case clock, the case with two-stage moulded and Greek key cornice supported by reeded columns, the waist-panel door with moulded border, raised on a plinth and bracket feet, the arched brass 12" dial with foliate spandrels, recessed second and calendar subsidiaries and strike/silent in the arch, the five-pillar 8-day movement striking on a bell, 240cm high.

A bronze lantern formed as a cube with four flared feet, openwork panels to the side walls, a balustered knop to each corner of the upper face, hinged bell-shaped openwork domed lid with knop handle; reserved calligraphic text to the upper face, incised text to the sides. See von Gladiss, A. Glanz und Substanz. Metallarbeitung in der Sammlung des Museums für Islamische Kunst, Berlin, 2012, item 26 for similar design. 2 kg, 27cm (10 1/2"). Property of a London, UK, gentleman; formerly with Pars Gallery, London, W1, 1990s. Lanterns of this type were usually made for mosques or the homes and palaces of the wealthy. The inscriptions usually comprise the name of the maker along with blessings for the safety and well being of the owner. This particular type of lantern was was popular in the Seljuk areas of Anatolia, Asia Minor, and were heavily influenced by Byzantine styles that were used as part of ecclesiastical furnishings, such as the silver gilt lantern now in the treasury of Saint Mark's, Venice. Fair condition.

A large gilt-bronze discoid harness pendant with integral suspension loop, raised parcel-gilt border with tremolier pattern; enamelled field with reserved swan between fronds, advancing with a bell secured round its neck. 35.7 grams, 72mm (2 3/4"). Property of a London gentleman; formerly in an old UK private collection. Fine condition.

From the collection of a North London gentleman; acquired in the 1980s. Fine condition.

A ceramic figure of a courtly attendant with short hair, layered robes with V-shaped necklines, hands folded within the bell-shaped sleeves, flared skirt, baggy trousers and rectangular shoes; pigment remaining to head, shoes and neckline; mounted on a custom-made stand. 6.7 kg, 59.5cm (23 1/2"). Property of a North London gentleman; previously in a private collection formed in the 1990s. Fine condition.

Each with a bell shaped sconce over a coiled serpent held in the beak of an owl and raised on a stepped circular plinth. The owls with glass inset eyes. An unusual early 19th century 8-day longcase clock, the mahogany case having Gothic and Scottish styling influences, arched top hood with eagle and ball finials, turned columns flanking the opening glazed door, the trunk having Gothic top 3/4 length opening door, flame mahogany panel with banding in lighter veneers, unusual applied half round columns, fluted spear-point finials and architectural roundels, the base having lighter cross-banded frame to match the door, supported on turned and stepped feet, dial is very colourful having four seasons to the corners and a country scene to the arch, indistinctly signed, the 8-day bell striking movement is mounted directly to the dial with no falseplate, approx. 220cm tall.Estimate £300 to £500Notes: A documented history is with the clock starting from 1836 (probably less than 20 years after the clock would have been made, they could have been the first owners) with successive generations of the Carr family of Camperdown, Northumberland. Whilst the name on the dial does not appear to be Carr, there was a Joseph Carr listed as clockmaker (Loomes) in Hexham, about 25 miles from Camperdown. He died in 1775 (too early for this clock) however it is possible that there was a familial connection between them. This lot MUST be paid for and collected, or delivery arranged, no later than close of business on Tuesday. Please do not bid if you are unable to comply
