Chris Calle (American, B. 1961) "Gus Grissom - Second U.S. Manned Space Flight" Signed lower right. Mixed Media on Illustration Board. Provenance: Collection of James A. Helzer (1946-2008), Founder of Unicover Corporation. This painting was originally published on the Fleetwood First Day Cover of the Niue 25th Anniversary of the Moon Landing stamps issued July 20, 1994. On February 21, 1961, NASA announced that, of the seven astronaut-trainees of Project Mercury, three had been chosen to prepare for flight into space. Among them was 33-year-old military test pilot Captain Virgil "Gus" Grissom. So intent was Grissom on making the flight that he gave up water-skiing and became acutely observant of traffic laws to assure that nothing happened to make him ineligible. Finally, on July 21, 1961, only a few weeks after Alan Shepard's 15-minute suborbital flight in Freedom 7, it was Grissom's turn. He had named his Mercury 4 spacecraft Liberty Bell 7 because of its shape, even going so far as to paint a large crack on the vessel similar to the crack in the real Liberty Bell. At 8:20 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time, a Redstone rocket blasted Mercury 4 off from Cape Canaveral. Grissom slightly exceeded the distance and speed of Shepard's earlier flight, traveling to an altitude of 118 miles at over 5,000 miles per hour. After splashdown, the spacecraft's escape hatch blew off prematurely. While Grissom escaped unharmed, Liberty Bell 7 sank permanently to the ocean floor. Jokingly, Grissom named his next spacecraft "Molly Brown" after the popular Broadway musical The Unsinkable Molly Brown. Reluctant NASA officials agreed to the name after hearing Grissom's back-up choice: "Titanic." Image Size: 7 x 6.25 in. Overall Size: 11.5 x 10.5 in. Unframed. (B14795)

Steve Ferguson (American, B. 1946) "Bell P-59 Airacomet Airplane" Signed lower left. Original Acrylic painting on Cold Press Illustration Board. Provenance: Collection of James A. Helzer (1946-2008), Founder of Unicover Corporation. This painting was originally published on the Fleetwood Commemorative Cover with the U.S. 29c Flag stamp issued October 2, 1991. As he taxied down the hard-packed surface of Muroc Dry Lake on October 2, 1942, Bell test pilot Robert M. Stanley knew he was making aviation history. Enclosed in the prototype of America's first jet-powered aircraft, Bell put the XP-59A Airacomet through its paces and then executed a textbook perfect landing on the salt-infused lake bed. Developed from British work on gas turbine engines, the P-59 was a mid-wing monoplane with turbojets flanking its slender fuselage and was originally intended to be an interceptor pursuit aircraft. Subsequent, more intensive test flights revealed the plane's lack of power, short range and operational instability. Removed from combat capability, the P-59 saw service as a jet fighter trainer. However, its role in the development of American jet aircraft remains unsurpassed. Image Size: 16.5 x 14 in. Overall Size: 20 x 15 in. Unframed. (B13375)

In 1874 (Qing Tongzhi 13th year), he inherited the title of 7th generation Prince of Khalkha, also known as "Na Wang". Na Yantu lived a luxurious life and was keen on gambling in the casino, which resulted in huge expenses and increasingly difficult living conditions. In the 15th year of the Republic of China (1926), he borrowed 70,000 silver yuan from Father Jean-Marie Planchet, a priest of The North Church Catholic Church in Beiping (now Beijing). In 1927, Na Yantu entrusted the antiques in his royal residence to Minsheng Trading Company for auction to repay the debt, but the proceeds were still not enough to repay the debt. Later, Nayantu was sued by Father Jean-Marie Planchet. After Nayantu lost the lawsuit, the royal residence was mortgaged to Father Jean-Marie Planchet. A large number of artworks in that royal residence were purchased and transported back to France by Albert Armand Pouyanne (1873-1932), and after Pouyanne's death, his wealth and a large number of collections were inherited by his family.
