Interesting and unusual 19th century table timepiece, the fusee anchor movement with maintaining power and 8in brass dial, inscribed James Bell Edinburgh 1840, in brass case of balloon style, the drum upon a rectangular case with inverted tapering sides, incorporating a spirit level, upon brass ball feet with spikes, 39.5cm. Notes: This timepiece was purchased by the vendor's uncle from the Northern Lighthouse Board in the 1970's. It was apparently from the Engine Room at Covesea Skerries, Lossiemouth, (lighted 1846). Condition Report In good condition. Rear door hinged replaced and needs tidying.
