(possibly a version of Nanping Wanzhong, one of the ten famous views of Xi Hu (West Lake) the bell at dusk at Jingci Temple at the Nanping Mountain). A BELL BELIEVED TO BE FROM THE S.S. GREAT EASTERN, un-named, cast in brass with moulded rim and shoulder, staple for clapper (missing) and suspension ring -- 10 x 12½in. (25.5 x 31.7cm.) on a wall-mounted oak frame with brass plaque engraved BELL OF THE GREAT EASTERN -- 54 x 12in. (137 x 30.5cm.); photocopy of cover and page from 1888 sales catalogue; letter confirming provenance, Provenance: Believed sold by Messrs Dixon & Moore of Liverpool at the Great Eastern dispersal sale of 20th-22nd November 1888 and purchased by James C. Farrie, great-grandfather of the vendor. In 1957 it was inherited by the vendor`s mother and, from 1977-2012, was on loan to the Great Britain Museum, Bristol. In 1888 James C. Farrie and his son James C. Farrie Jr. were cotton brokers living and working in Liverpool and are thought to have bought this bell as a souvenir. It is believed that the Great Eastern had two or even three bells and that this unmarked example was possibly located on one of the mid-ship masts. Her named maker`s bell was recently re-discovered and resides in the Liverpool Maritime Museum.

A BELL FROM THE DOVER-CALAIS FERRY CANTERBURY, 1929, cast in brass with moulded rim and clapper and inscribed in black-filled lettering over a decorative motif -- 12½in. (32cm.) high, Built by Denny Bros. in Dumbarton for the Southern Railway Co`s "Golden Arrow" service, she registered nearly 3,000 tons, could carry 800 passengers, and was fitted with Parsons turbines producing 22.15 knots which helped cut the time from London to Paris to 6 hours 35 minutes. She was broken up in 1965.

Legatura del secolo XIX firmata Chambolle-Duru in pieno marocchino rosso alle armi del barone Seillière, Bibliothèque de Mello, con triplice cornice in oro ai piatti, fregi elaborati al dorso, unghiatura à dentelles, tagli dorati. Prima edizione di questo celebre trattato di cucina rinascimentale che nella prima parte descrive i banchetti allestiti da Messisbugo presso la corte estense a Ferrara, di cui fu servitore, e contiene nella seconda parte un vero e proprio ricettario “dello chef”, con precisa indicazione delle dosi. Bell’esemplare proveniente dalla collezione Piatti della seconda edizione ma la prima arricchita dalle tavole di Callot che raffigurano 46 piante e vedute di Gerusalemme. Storia Locale - Veneto Interessante insieme di 4 album " in quarto oblungo della metà del secolo XIX provenienti da una colta e raffinata famiglia veneta o friulana. Più che classici album amicorum, essi sono una sorta di raccolta privata di autografi, vedute, poesie, musica, lettere, omaggi, disegni e biglietti nei quali un gusto tipicamente femminile s’intreccia con tematiche risorgimentali: a brevi ed allegri componimenti d’occasione e a disegni puramente ornamentali si affiancano infatti numerose le testimonianze di una forte attenzione ai temi politici dell’epoca, in particolare per quel che riguarda l’ambito veneziano e triestino. Uno degli album rimanda in molti casi alla famiglia Grancini – Olga, Luigi e Maria, nata de Leitenburg. Tra i numerosi autografi, esso contiene una ballata autografa di Carlo Virgilio Rupnick (autore de “Eroi triestini. Romanzo storico-popolare”, Trieste, 1894) e un suo disegno firmato e datato Trieste 20 ottobre 1851, e due graziose tempere floreali firmate Invernizzi e datate 1863. Il secondo album è una raccolta di acquerelli, tra i quali opere di Moro, Vicentini, Prosdocimi, e una veduta di Istambul attribuita a Caffi. Un terzo album è molto probabilmente appartenuto ad un membro femminile della famiglia Seismut-Doda. In esso trovano collocazione alcuni disegni e sonetti dedicati alla Zara italiana che parlano o illustrano le bellezze dell’Istria con una certa malinconia, uno dei canti di Aleardo Aleardi intitolato L’obolo di San Pietro datato 1865, un disegno firmato da Giuseppe Carlo Bottura del 1845 che vuol dare raffigurazione ai celebri versi di Berchet: Un sol voto di mezzo all`affanno, Un sol grido fu il grido di tutti: «No, per Dio! non si serva al Tiranno.» Quindi al crudo paraggio condutti, Preferimmo l`esilio, un estratto dal Marco Cralievich di Francesco Dall’Ongaro firmato e datato 20 maggio 1847 – all’epoca ancora inedito ma che verrà dato alle stampe con il titolo La resurrezione di Marco Cralievic nel 1863 e una poesia autografa di Giacomo Zanella intitolata L’Arte ad una giovanetta. Numerosi gli acquerelli e i disegni originali come le tre chine con indicazione manoscritta Novelli e due acquerelli firmati G. V. Zugni, di cui uno datato 1844. Tra le altre firme sui disegni e le tempere si leggono quelle di Policarpo Badini, Carlo Podiani, Carlo Tascan, Alessandro Schiavoni, Ugo Botti, D. Vianelli, Fausto Antonioli, G. Segusini, Francesco Locatelli. Per quel che riguarda la musica si segnalano una composizione musicale autografa firmata di Antonio Buzzolla con parole di Giovanni Peruzzini intitolata Il Crociato di Venezia, 8 pagine in 4° oblungo e otto battute autografe di Giovanni Pacini. Nell’album si trovano anche un biglietto da visita di Niccolò Tommaseo e uno di M. et M.me Alfred Dreyfuss con lunga nota manoscritta di ringraziamento. Ma l’autografo senza dubbio più bello e toccante è una poesia di Silvio Pellico dedicata a Roma: “Dall`altura del Pincio contemplando Il disceso all`occaso astro primiero, Ammiravam siccom` egli toccando La divina basilica di Piero Arricchisca di luce i suoi tesori , E con celeste amor si fermi a cingerla Di rubini, zaffiri e fulgid’ori: Io quindi ammutolia, Ma intesi una più fervida, più pia Alma esclamar: - Son quelle Le due nell` universo opre più belle, Onde materia sublimata adornisi; Dio per l’uom quella lampa in ciel ponea, Al suo Signor l` uomo quel tempio ergea.” Bell’insieme, tutto da studiare.
