Erste Hälfte 18. Jh., wohl um 1730. Mechanisches Werk mit gravierter Platine, Federantrieb über Kette-Schnecke für Geh-, Schlag- sowie Datumswerk, Spindelgang und Hinterpendel. Stundenschlag auf Glocke sowie Carillon-Geläut auf sechs Glocken, wählbar "A Greek Song" (Griechische Weise) oder "Cortilion" (kleine Cotillon-Melodie). Teilversilbertes und vergoldetes Zifferblatt mit arabisch-indischen ("türkischen") Stunden und Minuten auf gravierter Front mit Scheinpendelöffnung zwischen Schlagwerk- und Carillonregulierung. Datumfenster über sechs. Für den ausgedehnten osmanischen Markt gefertigt. H ges. 74 cm. Gangfähig. Obgleich in Yorkshire geboren, erlernte Kipling das Uhrmacherhandwerk bei Thomas Johnson in Ratcliff Cross, London, wo er sich um 1705 mit eigener Werkstatt niederließ. Sein Wirken ist bis ca 1750 nachweisbar, nicht zuletzt durch zahlreiche Groß- und Taschenuhren für den sogenannten "Türkischen Markt", ergo für Kunden im östlichen Mittelmeerraum, Nordafrika und Vorderasien.
