J W BELL "French 19th Century interior", watercolour, initialled bottom right, together with another similar, 50 cm x 70 cm and 48 cm x 63 cm CONDITION REPORTS Frames with various chips, damage and losses, various areas of repair and overpainting. Paintings themselves have some deterioration, some flaking and losses , some foxing and spotting, dirt, fading and wear. Some tears to edges. Large chunk missing top edge of picture depicting lady and gentleman in interior and also a chunk missing bottom left of this picture. Some sections of back boards to the frames are missing, and there is dirt, mould, stains and warping to back boards.

A c.1860 French silver gilt chalice with bell shaped bowl on hexagonal knopped stem above spreading lobed foot with an applied cut-card work, maker PV, stamped 498, silver standard 950, height 26.5cm, approx 19.6ozt. CONDITION REPORT: There are two areas of losses to the cut-card decoration on the lower part of the bowl, base is slightly wobbly.

St. Andrew and cross resting in an open thistle wreath bearing ‘Cameron’ scroll on the base; St. Andrew flanked by bi-part scroll ‘Liverpool Scottish’. Two loops to reverse which bears maker’s tablet. (as KK 2364) 8th (Scottish) VB raised 4th October 1900 with HQ at 22 Highgate St. 16th April 1901 Highland Dress sanctioned. Forbes tartan worn, taken from first CO Col. C. Forbes Bell VD. Transferred to Territorial Force as 10th Bn. 1st April 1908 with HQ at 7 Fraser Street Hugh King Collection
Richard Simkin 3rd King’s Own Light Dragoons Watercolour Painting. A very good and detailed study of an Officer of the Regiment, circa 1820. Mounted upon his charger we is seen wearing Bell Top shako, short tailed coatee and sabretache, while his charger with Regimental shabraque, saddle cloth. Clear signature, detail and colour very good. Unframed Size 10 x 14 inches.
Badge. East India Company William IV Officer’s “Bell-Top” shako plate circa 1829-37. A splendid rare rich fire-gilt example. Large crowned star mounted with silver 12 pointed star bearing rope edged gilt circlet pierced with Company’s motto “Auspicio Regis et Senatus Angliae” centrally a silver dome with red translucent Cross of St. George, the upper left corner mounted with gilt Hanovarian Arms. Two horizontal loops to reverse. Star ray at 1 o’clock has very minor split with old lead repair to reverse; tiny spilt between silver star’s rays around 4 o’clock. VGC The Hanovarian Arms were removed from the design in 1837, upon Victoria’s succession to the British throne, because women were unable to succeed to the Throne of Hanover.

Large rich gilt crowned star shako plate mounted with wreath and very large silver Rose, complete with horizontal loops to reverse ... pair of gilt chinscales complete with silvered rose ear bosses ... three regimental gilt coatee buttons. Attractively framed and glazed. VGC (opened for inspection) Note on reverse attributes to Lieutenant, later Major DYSON served 1803-34), changed his spelling to DEISON circa 1812
