A black-glaze kantharos with bell-shaped body, sharply carinated to the bottom and flared to the rim; tall stemmed foot with central moulding and splayed base; high strap handles extending above the rim; body decorated with ivy leaves and tendrils above a band of scrolls. 490 grams, 24cm tall (9 1/2"). Property of a North London gentleman; formerly in an old Cambridge collection. Fine condition.

A substantial bronze statuette of Fortuna (Greek Tyche) standing on a bell-shaped plinth with leaf ornament to the rim; the goddess standing in loosely draped chiton with mantle gathered at the shoulders, the hair dressed and extending in braids to the collar and neck, left arm supporting a cornucopia with overflowing fruit; tall stud modius above the head. 1.2 kg, 22cm (8 3/4"). On the London art market since 1990; with Pierre Bergé & Associés, Archéologie, Paris, 16 December 2015, lot 239 (22,000-25,000 euros); accompanied by copies of the relevant Pierre Bergé catalogue pages.
