An Art Deco three-piece clock garniture: the eight-day duration movement striking the hours and half-hours on a bell with an outside countwheel and stamped to the backplate with the trademark of the clockmaker Samuel Marti, the gilt-metal octagonal dial with black Arabic numerals and blued steel hands, set within a case of green, pink and black verigated marble, with spelter figures of naked females in contemplation to either side of the centre block, all standing on a rectangular base, with matching green, pink and black marble side vases, height: 26.5 cm. * Biography; Samuel Marti was one of the prolific French makers of the 1800's and was known to be working circa 1860 at Le Pays de Montbeliard, Paris making roulant blancs. Along with Japy Freres and Roux they set up a business in 1863 to market their movements to such firms as L'Epee. Their Paris address was Rue Vieille-du-Temple from 1870.

Winterhalter & Co are recorded as working in London circa 1850 and were a part of the German clockmakers of the same name.
George Clarke, White Chappel fecit, a brass lantern clock: the thirty-hour birdcage movement having an anchor escapement and striking the hours on a bell with an outside countwheel, the frame with turned pillars to the corners, turned brass finials to the top and ball feet below, the brass dial having a raised chapter ring with engraved Roman numerals, meeting arrow-head half-hour markings, the centre engraved with floral decoration and the maker's name George Clarke, White Chappel, fecit, with a decorative blued-steel single hand, engraved brass frets to the top and surmounted by a brass bell strap under which sits the bell, height 34cm. With a later oak wall bracket. * Biography: George Clarke is recorded as working in White Chappel (Whitechapel), London prior to 1760 as a turret clock maker.
